Daniel Ashini
1959-2009

It is with great sadness that the family of the late Daniel Ashini announce his passing on Monday, October 12th, 2009 at the Labrador Health Centre at the age of 49 years. He will be sadly missed by his family and friends. Visitation will take place at his residence in Sheshatshiu after 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Funeral Service will be held at the New School Gym on Thursday, October 15th at 12:00 noon. Interment will follow at the Roman Catholic Cemetery. As expressions of sympathy, flowers are graciously accepted.

John March

It is with great sadness that the family of the late John March announce his passing on October 12th at the Labrador Health Centre at the age of 78 years. He will be sadly missed by his wife Patricia; children: Debbie(Chris), Doreen, Rose(Rod), Robert and Renee(Toby); grandchildren: Melissa, Jerrod(Debbie), Amy, Matthew, Michael(Rose), Bradley, and Brittany(Robert); as well as a large circle of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. He was predeceased by his parents Michael and Regina March; and brothers: Gerald and Cletus. Friends may visit Fillatre's Funeral Home, Happy Valley-Goose Bay, on Wednesday from 2-4 and 7-9 PM. The funeral service will be held on Thursday, October 15th at 2 PM from the Our Lady Queen of Peace Church, with interment to follow at the Roman Catholic Cemetery. As expressions of sympathy flowers are graciously accepted or a donation may be made to Daffodil Place, St. John's.

JOHN VALENTINE AYLWARD

Happy Valley-Goose Bay, NL - It is with great sadness that the family of the late John Valentine Aylward announce his passing on Friday, October 9th, 2009 at the Labrador Health Centre at the age of 77 years. He will be sadly missed by his wife Rose, children: Jackie McCarthy, Paul (Norma), Yvonne (Kirk) Johnson, Dominic (Serena), Kathleen (Andrew) Battcock, Patrick (Andrea), David (Sue), Leonard (Julie), Lisa (John) Taylor and Stephen, 18 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild. As well as a large circle of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was predeceased by his parents Clement and Ellen Aylward, his brothers Brendan and Michael, his sisters Mary, Alice and Bert as well as 7 brothers and sisters who died as children. Friends may visit Fillatre’s Funeral Home, Happy Valley-Goose Bay on Sunday 7-9 PM and Monday 2-4 & 7-9 PM. The funeral service will take place at the Roman Catholic Church on Tuesday, October 13th at 2 PM. Interment to follow at the Roman Catholic Cemetery. As expressions of sympathy flowers gratefully accepted or donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.

EVELYN MARY GALE
November 13, 1949 - October 7, 2009

Corner Brook, NL (Formerly of Sop’s Arm, NL) - It is with great sadness that the family of the late Evelyn Mary Gale announce her passing on Wednesday, October 7, 2009 at Western Memorial Regional Hospital at the age of 59 years. She leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories her two sisters: Marie, Sop’s Arm and Zebina (Clyde), St. Barbe; brother Robert John (Karen), Ottawa; nephews and nieces: Clyde Jr. (Tina), Cindy (Boyd), Justin, Melissa (Phil) and Zachary, great-nephews: Nico and Nicholas, great-nieces: Kaitlyn and Alyssa, uncles: Solomon Tilley (Alvina), Willis (Joyce) Tilley and Robert (Robeena) Tilley, as well as a large circle of relatives and her extended family of friends at City Pharmacy, Corner Brook. She was predeceased by her parents Elias and Lucy Gale and Nephew Robbie Pollard. Friends may visit Fillatre’s Funeral Home, 4 St. Mark’s Avenue on Wednesday 7-9 PM and Thursday 10-11 AM. Visitation will continue at the Church of the Transfiguration, Sop’s Arm Thursday beginning at 2:00 PM from where the funeral service will be held on Friday, October 9 at 2:00 PM with Rev. Hannah Dicks officiating. Cremation to follow at Humber Valley Crematorium. As expressions of sympathy flowers graciously accepted.

AUTUMN RAE WHEELER
February 2, 1982 - October 5, 2009

Corner Brook, Originally of Virginia - Autumn surpassed this life on October 5, 2009. She is predeceased by her dad, Edward Wheeler. Left to carry on: mother, Barbara Chason, step father, William Roberts, brother, Aaron Wheeler (Julie), step brothers, Benjamin Roberts (Claire) and Andrew Roberts (Genna), grandmother, Georgina K. Noel, step mother, Linda Freuh, aunts, uncles, many relatives and an abundance of friends. Friends may visit Fillatre’s Funeral Home, 4 St. Mark’s Avenue on Thursday and Friday 7-9 PM. A memorial service to be held at the Heritage Theatre in Woody Point on Saturday, October 10 at 2:00 PM. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Autumn Wheeler LPN Scholarship College of the North Atlantic, Corner Brook.

BRYANT AUSTIN PITTMAN
March 30, 1946 … September 30, 2009

Stephenville, NL (Formerly of Corner Brook) - Passed peacefully on Wednesday, September 30th, 2009 at the Health Science Centre, St. John’s, Bryant Pittman at the age of 63 years. Predeceased by his mother, Emma Pittman. Leaving to mourn are his two sons: Keith (Kathy) and Darryl (Heidi); one daughter: Lana (Shawn) Hodder; four grandchildren: Stephanie and Lindsay Drover and Joshua and Jordan Pittman; father: Mr. Walter Pittman; four brothers: Gorman, Milton, Lloyd and Gordon; three sisters: Linda, Mildred and Shirley; as well as a large circle of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Cremation has taken place. A memorial visitation will be held on Tuesday from 2-4: and 7-9 p.m. from Fillatre’s Funeral Home, 4 St. Marks Avenue. A Private family burial will be held at a later date. As expressions of sympathy, no flowers by request.

VERONICA SMITH (nee Merner)
August 22, 1914 - October 2, 2009

Passed peacefully away with her family at her side at the Inter-Faith Home in Corner Brook on Friday, October 2, 2009, aged 95. Left to mourn are her children: Sean (partner Jean Fudge), London ON; Paul, Corner Brook NL; Edward, Corner Brook NL; Elizabeth (Steven Brown), Halifax, NS. Her sister, Josephine Holt, Orlando, FL; her brothers: John Merner, Harbour Main, NL; James Merner, Hamilton ON; her grand-children, Rory Smith, Michelle Belbeck, and Katie Estabrooks. Her great-grand-children: Ayden, Mia, Mariah, and Paige. She was predeceased by her husband, Paul Smith, in 1983, and by her sister, Elizabeth in 1942, her sister Bride in 1960 and her sister Angela in 2004. Visitation will take place Saturday, October 3 from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Fillatre’s Funeral Home at 4 St. Mark’s Avenue, Corner Brook, and again on Sunday, October 4 from 2 p.m to 4 p.m., and 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. A Mass of Christian burial will take place at the Cathedral of the Holy Redeemer, Mt. Bernard Avenue, at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, October 5, Father Ambrose Hynes officiating. Interment to follow at Mount Patricia Cemetery. As expressions of sympathy, flowers graciously accepted or a donation can be made to the Food Bank Network P.O. Box 171, Corner Brook, NL A2H 6C7 or the charity of one’s choice.

JOHN PATRICK PUMPHREY
MARCH 17, 1961 … SEPTEMBER 19, 2009

It is with great sadness that the family of the Late John Pumphrey announce his passing as a result of a tragic accident at his home in the Highlands on Friday, September 19th, 2009 at the age of 48 years. He will be very sadly missed by his loving partner Terri MacAuley and daughter Ryley; brothers and sisters: Mary (Tom), Gerry (Lorraine), Brian (Rhoda) of the Highlands, Michael (madeline), Philip (Norma), Geraldine (Ken), Rita (Lloyd) and Edward all of Ontario, Cecilia (David) of Halifax and Joan (Loyola) of South Branch, a large number of nieces, nephews, as well as all the people of Bay St. George South where John was a dynamic Leader and Volunteer. He was predeceased by his parents Michael and Geraldine (Halbot). Visitation will take place Monday from 7 … 9 p.m. and Tuesday from 2 … 4 and 7 … 9 p.m. at St. Columcille Roman Catholic Church in St. Fintans with the Funeral Mass taking place on Wednesday, September 23, 2009 at 11a.m., Father Maurice O’Quinn officiating. Interment will follow the service at the family plot at the Highlands. As expressions of sympathy flowers are graciously accepted or donations may be made to St. Columcille Roman Catholic Parish. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Fillatre’s Funeral Home, Stephenville Crossing.

Deer Lake - It is with great sadness that the family of the late Emma Janes announce her passing on Sunday September 20th, 2009 at Western Memorial Regional Hospital Corner Brook at the age of 91. She leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories her special relatives Irene and Bliss Jefferies, with whom she resided, Pamela (Dion) Simmons, Richard, Liam and Kylie Simmons, all of Deer Lake; nieces and nephews: Jean Coombs, Corner Brook, Verna Corder; Arkansas, Margaret Ormandy, Ontario, Lorna Hassel, New Jersey, Louise Sheppard, Ontario, Valda Brown, Ontario, Joe Brown, BC; great nieces and nephews: Craig Brown, Ontario, Brenda Anstey, Corner Brook, Bruce Coombs, Pasadena, Dr. Heather Coombs, Montreal and Tim Brown, Ontario, as well as a large circle of other relatives and friends. She was predeceased by her parents Elizabeth and Norris Janes, brother Howard Janes, sisters Dot Brown and Naomi Lewis and cousin Bruce Jefferies. Friends may visit Fillatre’s Funeral Home 10 Clinic Drive Deer Lake, Tuesday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m.. The Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, September 23rd at 2:00 p.m. from the Emmanuel Pentecostal Church, Pastor Peter Grimes officiating. Interment will follow at the Pentecostal Cemetery High Street. As expressions of sympathy flowers are graciously accepted or donations may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
