Marguerite Laura Lawrence

Corner Brook, NL - Passed peacefully away surrounded by her family, Marguerite (Hamilton) Lawrence. Marguerite, a nurse and war bride, was born in Waterford, Ireland and came to Canada in 1946 with her beloved husband, Chester, who predeceased her in 1979. She leaves with many fond memories three daughters: Laura (Craig) Strang, Sheila (Bob) Baird, and Patricia (Peter) Blow; seven grandchildren: Erin (Scott), Ian, Vicki (Brad), Laura, Danny, Dreda and Oliver; sisters-in-law: Annie, Edith, Isabel, and Ruth; brother Harry; special friend Mereda Preece; and little cat Jigger; as well as many other relatives and good friends. Marguerite was a founding and lifetime member of the Bay of Islands SPCA. Her kindness to all of God’s creatures, both human and animal, made her a very special person. Visitation will take place at Fillatre’s Funeral Home, St. Mark’s Avenue, Monday 7-9PM, and Tuesday 2-4 & 7-9 PM. The funeral service will take place on Wednesday, November 18th, at 2 PM from The Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist, Archbishop Stewart Payne officiating. Interment to follow at Mt. Patricia Cemetery.Many thanks to Dr. Coleman and the staff on the 6th floor of the hospital for making her comfortable during her last year. Pasadena, NL - It is with great sadness that the family of the late Lorna “Ruth” Legge announce her sudden passing at the Health Science Centre, St. John’s on Monday, November 16th, 2009 in her 68th year with family at her side. She leaves to mourn her children: Marilyn (Stephen Hooper), Pasadena, James (Nicole), Mount Pearl and Julia (Donald) Moores, Edmonton, AB; special grandson Stephen Legge-Hooper, Kristy (Thomas) Marche and Nicolas Moores, her sister Florence Melanson, Calgary; sisters-in-law: Ruby (Norman) Wheeler, Lillian Dinney, Rose (William) Perry, Linda (Cort) Oake, Donna (Chris) Hancock, Bertha Legge, brothers-in-law: Gordon Gushue, Gordon (Salome) Legge, Kenneth (Eileen) Legge; as well as a large circle of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. She was predeceased by her husband of 44 years Edgar Jr. In 2006, parents Henry Thomas and Annabel Butt, sister Sadie Gushue, brothers Joe (Norma), Reg (Bride), Jack (Mary), brothers-in-law Louis Melanson, John Legge, Clouston Legge. Visitation will take place from Humber Valley United Church, Pasadena on Thursday 2-4 PM for family and 7-9 PM for friends from where the funeral service will be held on Saturday, November 21st at 2:00 PM with Rev. Andrew Wright officiating. Interment to follow at the Church Cemetery. HANNAH “EVELYN” TUCKER (Nee Mollon)

Meadows, Bay of Islands - Passed peacefully away at the Palliative Care Unit of Western Memorial Regional Hospital on Wednesday, November 18th, 2009, Hannah “Evelyn” Tucker. Born in Lark Harbour on July 18th, 1915 to the late George and Rebecca Mollon, she was the youngest of 13 children. Predeceased by her husband Frank, September 1993; eight brothers, Josiah, William, Henry, Bert, George, Clarence, Leslie and Hayward, four sisters, Lillias, Ethel, Elizabeth and Blanche. Survived by her two sons Malcolm (Muriel), Wayne (Marie), three daughters Carolyn (Everett Hann), Rebecca (John Parsons), Christine (Maitland White). Eleven grandchildren; Glynis (Allan Ellsworth), Natalie (Dale Merry), Tina Pittman, Renee (Steve Couglin), Blair Tucker, Jennifer (Donald Curry), Petrina (Chad Brake), Michael Hann (Tina), Jason Hann (Sueann), Craig Hann (Nadean), Stephen Green (Cheron). Great-Grandchildren; Melanie, Matthew, Natasha, Derricka, Alexander, Noah, Casey, Christina, Brandon, Janelle, Matthew, Morgan, Joshua, Nathan and Ava, and one Great-Great-Grandchild Jaida. STEPHENVILLE, NL - Muriel Irene Brinston departed peacefully on Friday, November 20, 2009 at the age of 89 surrounded by her loving family. Left to celebrate her life are her husband Richard; children: Harvey (Ann), Gerald (Donnie), Edie (Robert Philips), Kathy (Yve LeRoy); grandchildren: Kelly, Adrienne, Philip, Adam, Scott, Jamie Lynn, Matthew, Stephen; great-grandchildren: Nicole, Ryan, Jacob, Hayden, Austin; twin sister Frances Vardy; brother Cecil Miles as well as a large circle of family and friends. She was predeceased by her parents Hubert and Doris Miles; great-grandchild Brooke Brinston-Carter. The family will be receiving friends and family on Saturday from 2 – 4 and 7 – 9 p.m. at the First United Church, St. Clare Avenue, Stephenville from where the funeral service will take place on Sunday, November 22, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Kathryn Eddy officiating. Interment will follow the service at Hillside Interfaith Cemetery, Hansen Highway, Stephenville. It is with great sadness that the family of the late Effie Collier (nee Durnford) announce her sudden passing on Thursday, November 19th, 2009 at Dr. Charles L. Legrow Health Centre at the age of 64 years. Born at Parson’s Harbour, NL, Effie was the daughter of the late Henry and Emily Durnford. She leaves to mourn with fond and precious memories, her husband of 46 years, Chesley; daughters: Elizabeth (Jackie) Parsons, Rose Blanche, and Kathy (Benjamin) Edmunds, Port Aux Basques; son Freeman, Rose Blanche; brothers: Clayton (Joan) Durnford and Phillip Durnford; sisters: Victoria (Norman) Savoury and Sebina (William) Keeping; sister-in-law Betty (Andrew) Anderson, all of Rose Blanche; six grandchildren: Savannah, Adriana, Kevin, Devin, Jordan, Haley and a large circle of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Visitation took place on Friday and Saturday at St. Michael’s and All Angels Church in Rose Blanche, from where the Funeral Service took place on Sunday, November 22nd at 2:00 p.m., officiated by Rev. Andrew Nussey. Interment followed at Hillside Haven Cemetery in Margaree. As expressions of sympathy, flowers are graciously accepted. She was predeceased by her grandparents Archibald and Donna Wiseman, and her cousin Thane Wiseman.
