Corner Brook, NL - It is with great sadness that the family of the late Dorothy Alteen announces her passing on Wednesday, January 26th, 2011 at Corner Brook Long Term Care Home at the age of 85 years. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories: her husband of 62 years, Fred; daughter: Linda Carruthers (Dick); sons: Fred Jr. (June), George (Vera Lynn), Paul (Tu) and John (Anna Marie); grandchildren: Lisa (Joe), Aimee, George Jr., Matthew, Katie Lynn and Dianna; brothers and sisters-in-law: Lawrence (Barbara) Alteen, NS, Lou (Elizabeth) Alteen, Corner Brook and Muriel Michael, PEI; as well as a large circle of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Visitation will take place from Fillatre’s Funeral Home, 4 St. Marks Avenue on Friday, 2-4 and 7-9:00 p.m. The Mass of Christian burial will be held on Saturday, January 29th at 2:00 p.m. from The Cathedral of the Most Holy Redeemer, Mt. Bernard Avenue, Monsignor Edwin Gale officiating. The interment to follow at Mt. Patricia Cemetery. Corner Brook, NL - Passed peacefully away on Wednesday, February 23, 2011 at the Western Memorial Regional Hospital, Andrew John Pittman in his 89th year. Predeceased by his son Garry. Leaving to mourn his wife Ann, his pet dog Bella and numerous other family members and friends. Andrew was a World War II Veteran and also a life member of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police Veterans’ Association. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories are her long time friends: Clayton and Madeline Watkins; the Kajaks families in Montreal and Toronto, and other relatives and friends. She was predeceased by her husband Richard, 1997. She was predeceased by her parents William & Eileen Wayson, brother James and sisters Margaret & Patricia. JEFFREY’S, NL - On February 16, 2011, just one year and twelve days after losing his wife Dorothy, Gordon entered into eternal rest. Everything good in his life will go on living in his daughters Sandra (John) & Sonja (Corey); and his grandsons Andrew, William, Peter, and Nathaniel. He was predeceased by his wife; parents Janie and Albert Hounsell; sister Elizabeth and his in-laws Annie & Emmanuel Legge. Along with his immediate family he leaves a huge circle of extended family on both the Legge and Hounsell sides as well as a large circle of friends. Visitation with a family service will take place on Sunday Night. A celebration of life will be held on Monday, February 21, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. in St. Mary Magdalene Anglican Church, Jeffrey’s. A reception will follow at Three Rivers Lions Club in McKay's. As expressions of sympathy donations may be made to the family or to a charity of one's choice.
