November 6, 1925 - February 10, 2011

Curling, NL - Passed peacefully away at Western Memorial Hospital - Mabel Bartlett in her 86th year. Left with wonderful memories are husband Frank of 69 years. Daughters Joyce Northcott (Gord) Ontario, Kathy (Jack Carlson) Corner Brook, Sons Bob (Ontario), Frank (Wanda) Corner Brook, Terry (Valerie) Paradise, NL. Grandchildren Craig, Wade, Keith, Jay, David, Geoffrey, Scott, and Danielle; 6 great grandchildren Johnathon, Nicole, Megan, Ryan, Ethan and Madison; One great great grandchild Colton. Special dog Logan. Sisters Mary Crawley, Emily (Bob Grant) Ontario, Joyce (George Gilbert), Doreen (Ben Barrett), Ruth Dawe, Joan (Ron Legge), Sisters in Law Phyllis Chaulk Corner Brook and Doreen, Halifax. Brother Lionel, Tom (Joan) Corner Brook, Lewis Jr. (Davina) Ontario, Wayne (Denise) Calgary. Predeceased by precious Son Allan, Parent's Florrie and Lewis Chaulk, Brother Ernest, Daughter in law Carol Bartlett, Brother's in law Kevin Dawe, Ken Crawley, Basil Cormier, Ralph Bartlett, and Sister's in law Shirley Chaulk, May Bartlett, Ada, Madge, Father and Mother in law Charles and Laura Bartlett. Also, leaving behind, many nieces, nephews, relatives and dear friends. Friends may visit Fillatre’s Funeral Home, 218 Curling Street on Saturday 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. The funeral service will he held on Sunday, February 13 at 2:00 p.m. from Curling Memorial United Church with Rev. Clayton Parsons officiating. Cremation to follow at Humber Valley Crematorium with burial at a later date. Donations in her memory gratefully accepted to The Children’s Wish Foundation and Curling Memorial United Church.

McIver’s, NL - It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Wade Parsons, age 58, at the Palliative Care Unit, Western Memorial Regional Hospital, on Friday, February 4th, 2011 surrounded by his loving family. Left to mourn with fond and loving memories, his wife of 34 years, Pauline; daughters: Gerri-Lynn (Dwayne Curtis), McIvers, Nikki (Chris Gillis), Meadows; son: Robert (Jennifer), Summerside; five precious grandchildren whom were the lights of his life: Carlee and Kelly Curtis, Landon and Samantha Gillis and Emily Parsons; sisters and brothers: Rhoda Twyne (Edger), McIvers, Laurence (Eileen), McIvers, Melvin (Rowena), McIvers, Judy (Clarence Park), Cox’s Cove; father-in-law: Donald Park, McIvers; brothers and sisters-in-law: Bernice Parsons, McIvers, Gilbert (Lynn) Park, Cox’s Cove, Ernie (Elaine) Park, McIvers, Lloyd (Rose) Park, McIvers, as well as a large circle of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Predeceased by his parents: Nelson and Annie Parsons; mother-in-law: Nettie Park; sisters: Cedella Furnoug, Marie Payne; brother: Blandford Parsons; and sisters-in-law: Michelle Eveleigh and Doreen Parsons. Visitation will take place from The Epiphany Anglican Church, McIver’s beginning at 4:00 p.m. on Friday, all day Saturday and Saturday evening from where the funeral service will be held on Sunday, February 6th at 2:00 p.m. Reverend Joan Coles officiating. Interment to follow at the Church Cemetery. As expressions of sympathy, flowers are graciously accepted or donations may be made to the McIver’s Volunteer Fire Department, where Wade was a member for the past 25 years; c/o Town of McIvers, Box 4375, RR# 2, Corner Brook, A2H 6B9.

John (Jack) Allen
May 14, 1922 to February 3, 2011

Curling, NL - It is with great sadness that the family of the late John (Jack) Allen announces his passing on February 3, 2011, at the Western Memorial Regional Hospital at the age of 88 years. He leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories his children: Marlene Kennedy (Bert), Ontario, Derek Allen (Delores), Halfway Point, Wallace Allen (Bev), Ontario, Doug Allen, Corner Brook, Glenys Park (Fred), McIvers, Linda Park (Arch), McIvers, Bill Allen (Sylvia), Corner Brook, Elizabeth Anstey (Frank), Mount Moriah, Baxter Allen (Gaye), Ontario, Gloria Lavers (Joe), Ontario, and Byron Allen (Louise), Meadows; 18 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; sisters: Sophie Bartlett, Corner Brook, and Audrey Collins, Corner Brook; as well as a large circle of nieces, nephews, and friends. He was predeceased by his wife of 67 years Marion N. Allen on January 25, 2010, his parents John and Francis Allen, daughter Baby Gloria, great grandchildren Baby Baxter Park and Baby Alexander Park, daughter in law Dianne Allen; sisters and brothers and their spouses: Lilly Porter (Herb), Eva Leggo (Jack), Winnie Hilliard (Hayward), Maria Young (Richard), Lena Simms (Cameron), Robert Allen (Mary), Beattie Bartlett, Nina Rock (Thomas), and Johnny Collins; his sisters and brothers in law: Eva Jenkins (George), Maude Ledrew (Abe), Ella Curtis (Joe), Chesley Doman (Vera), Gerald Doman (Eunice), Kenneth Doman (Evelyn), and George Doman. Friends may visit Fillatre's Funeral Home, 218 Curling Street, on Saturady 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. and Sunday 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. Funeral service will take place on Monday, February 7, at 2:00 p.m. at St. Mary's The Virgin Anglican Church in Curling with Reverend Karen Laldin officiating. Interment will follow at Mount Patricia Cemetry. As expressions of sympathy, flowers graciously accepted or donations may be made to St. Mary's Anglican Church, Curling.

Donald B. Humber
1935-2011

Passed away Thursday, January 27th, 2011 at the Corner Brook Long Term Care Centre, Donald B. Humber at the age of 75 years. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories, daughter Elaine Humber (Martin Beeton); sons: Alan Humber (Hope Pilgrim), Raymond Humber (Cynthia); grandchildren: Andrew Humber, Fiona Humber; brother Gerald Humber (Robina); sisters: Ivy Williams, Elsie Elliott; sisters-in-law Georgina Bailey, Mary Humber, Stella Humber, as well as numerous nieces, nephews and a large circle of relatives and friends. He was predeceased by his wife Mildred, March 21, 2010; brothers: Ronald, Reginald, Harold and Cyril; sisters: Dorothy, Ella, Melissa and Rose. The family will be receiving friends at Fillatre`s Funeral Home 218 Curling Street Thursday from 8-9 p.m., Friday 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. and Saturday from 10:00 -11:00 a.m. The Funeral Service will take place Saturday January 29th at 2:00 p.m. from St. Ambrose Anglican Church, John`s Beach, Reverend Nellie Thomas officiating followed by the interment at the Church Cemetery. As expressions of sympathy in lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Kidney Foundation of Canada, NL Branch or St. Ambrose Church.

DAVID WELLMAN

SUMMERSIDE, NL - With the quiet strength and dignity that he lived his life, David Rayfield Wellman, age 70, slipped away Wednesday, January 26th, 2011 at Western Memorial Hospital, Corner Brook. Predeceased by his parents Paul and Annie Wellman, brother: Howard and his in laws Wesley and Marie Loder. Dave is loved and forever remembered by his wife of 50 years, Barbara; sons: Roger (Carolann) and Darryl (Lori); grandsons: Blair (Candice) and Justin (Meghan); granddaughters: Kayla (Justin) and Deidre; great grandchildren: Maddison, Jada and Alex; seven brothers: Len (Madeline), Lorne (Tally), Wayne (Fern), Wallace (Faye), Joe (Teresa), Kerry (Hazel) and Keith; four sisters: Gloria (Lenard), Marilyn (Steve), Pauline, Lorna (Corbin); sister-in-law: Valerie Wellman; in laws, The Loder family; Alvin (Maxine), Joan (Earl), Jerry (Gloria), Terry (Vivian), Tony (Dallas), Andy (Karen), Brad (Cindy); cousins, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and friends too many to count. Dave was born in Springdale and moved to Corner Brook as a young man for employment. He retired in 2001 after 42 years of service as a steam engineer at Western Memorial Hospital. He met Barbara Loder, they married, built their home in Summerside, raised their two sons and celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on January 4th, 2011. Dave was a gentle and generous man, who loved his family dearly. He enjoyed the great outdoors, hunting and fishing and spending time with friends and family at his cabin in Sheffield Lake. He loved to grow flowers and herbs, and experimented with growing varieties of potatoes. Dave leaves behind a legacy of love and generosity. Visitation will take place from Fillatre’s Funeral Home, 4 St. Mark Avenue on Thursday evening, 7-9:00 p.m. and Friday, 2-4 and 7-9:00 P.M. The funeral service will be held on Saturday, January 29th at 11:00 A.M. from the Salvation Army Citadel, Clarence Street. Majors Robert and Cassie Kean and Reverend Malcolm Palmer officiating. Interment to follow at Mt. Patricia Cemetery. As expressions of sympathy, in Dave’s memory, donations to the Bay of Islands Food Bank will be gratefully accepted.

HENRY MARTIN KENDALL
February 11, 1928 - September 5, 2011

Corner Brook, NL - Passed peacefully away on Monday, September 5, 2011 in the presence of his loving family at the Western Memorial Regional Hospital after a courageous battle with ALS, Henry Martin Kendall age 83 years. He leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories his wife of 59 years Betty (nee Pretty); daughter Colleen Louise (Pat McKeown), Kamloops, BC; sons: Ken (Marjorie), Corner Brook, Tom (Glenda), St. John’s and David (Karen Rose), St. John’s; sisters: Margaret Skinner, North Sydney and Edith Lilly, St. John’s; brothers: George (Florence), Corner Brook and Montford, Prescott, Ont; grandchildren: Janice (Larry) Hiscock, Stephanie Kendall, Steven Hurley, Rebecca, Josh and Aaron; great-grandchildren: Evan and Scott Hiscock; sister-in-law Helma Day, Corner Brook; brothers-in-law: Reg Pretty, Sarnia, Ont, Harold (Bride) Pretty, Corner Brook and Cliff (Olga) Pretty, Corner Brook; special family friends Cheryl Power, who has helped us through many difficult times and Gerald Kinslow, a long time hunting buddy; as well as a large circle of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was predeceased by his parents Leo and Lucy Kendall, sister Audrey and brother Walter. Friends may visit Fillatre’s Funeral Home, 4 St. Mark’s Avenue Home, 4 St. Mark’s Avenue on Wednesday 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. The funeral service will he held on Thursday, September 8 at 2:00 p.m. from the Cathedral of St. John’s the Evangelist, Main Street with the Very Rev. He leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories his children: Brenda (Larry) Clarke, Ontario, Doris Gurski, Ontario, Wayne, Ontario, Myra Anderson (Neil MacArthur), Corner Brook, Anthony “Tony” (Joanne), Massey Drive and Ona (Ian) Robertson, Calgary; 16 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren; sister-in-law Marie (Roy) Simon, Ontario; as well as a large circle of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was predeceased by his wife Mary (nee Quann) son Darryl, daughter-in-law Elizabeth, sons-in-law Wilson and Pat, parents Timothy and Lucy (nee Mitchell), sisters Madeline Mason and Una Parsons-Hutchings; brothers-in-law Mike, Bernard, Sam and Martin Quann, sisters-in-law Alice Gaudon and Julia Cormier. Friends may visit Fillatre’s Funeral Home, 4 St. Mark’s Avenue on Wednesday from the hours of 2-4 & 7-9 PM. The Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, September 8 at 3:30 PM from the Cathedral of the Most Holy Redeemer, Mount Bernard Avenue with Father Ambrose Hynes officiating. Interment to follow at Mount Patricia Cemetery. As expressions of sympathy donations may be made to the Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation.
