Deer Lake Manor - It is with great sadness that the family of the late Gertrude Sarah Carter announce her passing on Monday, September 19, 2011 at the Western Memorial Regional Hospital, Corner Brook in her 92nd year. She leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories her children: Shirley (Cabot) Flynn, Howley, Don (Elaine), Pasadena, Norma (Lewis) Stratton, Pasadena, Linda (Eugene) Gillett, Moreton’s Harbour and Eric (Darlene), Perth, Ont; 17 grandchildren: Todd (Debra), Keith (Rio), Cabot Jr, Jonathan (Tanya), Pamela (Cory), Paul (Nikki), Donna, Deanna (Jason), Victoria (Chad), Darren (Susan), Richard (Sharalee), Michelle (Scott), Rodney (Melissa), William (Kelly), Erin, Jaime and Justin; 18 great-grandchildren; as well as a large circle of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was predeceased by her husband Abraham J. Carter, sister Bessie, sister-in-law Sarah and brother-in-law George. Friends may visit Fillatre’s Funeral Home, 4 St. Mark’s Avenue on Tuesday from the hours of 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. The funeral service will be held on Wednesday, September 21 at 2:00 p.m. from the First Pentecostal Church, Premier Drive with Pastor Velmer Bessey officiating. Corner Brook, NL - It is with great sadness that the family of the late William Rolf announce his passing on Sunday, September 18, 2011 at the Mountainview Estates at the age of 86 years. He leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories his wife Marie (nee Barnes); children: Tony Rolfe (Susan), Dianne Devin (Dan) and Paula Rolfe (Byron Caines); grandchildren: Julia, Rebecca, Jessica and Nicholas Rolfe, Richard and Joanne Devin, Andrea and Mark Caines; special nephew Eddie Rolfe (Maureen); good friends Phonse and Mammie Penney; as well as a large circle of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Cremation has taken place at Humber Valley Crematorium. She leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories her four children: William Henry (Joan) Barnes, Madeline (Peter) Maddigan, Vera (Austin) Hackett and Sheila (Howard) McCarthy; brothers: Stephen (Shirley) Vater, Joseph (Lillian) Vater and Richard White; sister: Mercedis (Clarence) Sheppard; sister-in-law: Joanne Vater; special friend: Alfred Pennell; 10 grandchildren: Darlene (Darren), Kevin (Melinda), Lisa, Marsha (Darryl), Tracy (Kevin), Laurie Joan, Rachel (Derrick), Glenda, Brad and Joanne; 14 great grandchildren: Brandon, Christopher, Andrew, Colton, Kelsy, Dylan, Brittany, Courtney, Tara, Cameron, Cody, Riley, Tristan and Rachel; one great great grandchild: Brodie; home care workers: Eva Hynes, Linda McHugh and Brittany Alyward; as well as many other relatives and friends. Predeceased by her loving husband, Enos Barnes; her parents: William John and Mary Thryfena; sister: Patricia Pennell (Limbergh) and her brothers: Patrick and James. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories are her eight children: Donna Beales (Doug), Corner Brook, Barry Wiseman (Rose), NB, Olga Wiseman (Joe), Deer Lake, Karen Ogden (Everett), Corner Brook, Susan Wiseman-Park (Larry), Corner Brook, Don Wiseman JR., NS, Cathy Byrne (Ben), York Harbour and Patty Sheppard (Ken Walsh), Corner Brook; 20 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren; sisters: Viola Leriche and Elsie Hart; twin brothers: Josiah and Lewis Leyte; brother-in-law: Hedley Wiseman (Ethel); as well as a large circle of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was predeceased by her husband, Donald; son: Dennis; granddaughter: Dana Beales and son-in-law: Darren Sheppard. With our hearts full of wonderful memories, we announce the sudden, but peaceful passing of our dear mother, sister, auntie and friend, Joan Bernice Vincent (Nee Drover) on Thursday, September 8th, 2011 in Brampton, ON at the age of 50 years. Joan was the youngest child of Herb (1908-1971) and Mae (1920 - 2006). She grew up in Corner Brook, NL where she met the love of her life Todd Vincent. Marrying him and having their two wonderful children Corrine and TJ, they were the best accomplishments in her life. A celebration of her life will be held on Thursday, September 15th at 2:00 pm at the Salvation Army Citadel, Clarence Street with Major Raymond Janes officiating. Passed away peacefully at the Western Memorial Hospital the Rev’d Canon David Pearce. He is survived by his loving wife June of 51 years; three daughters: Judy (Gil) House of Kippens, Jean (Brian) Flanagan of Red Deer, Alb. and Janice Davis of Sylvan Lake, Alb; ten grandchildren; and one sister Jean Purcell of Smith Falls, Ont. He was predeceased by his father and mother Dr. Frank and Laura Pearce of Burin and sisters Eileen and Alberta. He was a proud and Dedicated Anglican Priest for 53 years. Cremation has taken place at Humber Valley Crematorium. Visitation at Fillatre’s Funeral Home, 4 St. Mark’s Avenue, Corner Brook on Thursday, September 22 from the hours of 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. The funeral service will be held on Friday, September 23 at 2:00 p.m. from All Saints’ Anglican Church, Clarence Street with The Right Rev’d Bishop Leonard Whitten and The Very Rev’d Archbishop S.S.
