It is with great sadness that the family of the late Loretta Marie Bennett announce her passing on Monday, September 19, 2011 at Sir Thomas Roddick Hospital in Stephenville, NL at the age of 77 years. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories her husband of 53 years Gordon, eight sons and nine daughters: Danny (Marion), Judy (Carl), Myrtle (Denis), Larry (Sue), Sandra, Dale (Bob), Melita (Chris), Brenda (Peter), Winnie (Leroy) all from Dartmouth, NS, Gerry (Marie) Saint John, NB, Randall, Wallace, Gary, Janet (Jason), Shane (Stephanie), Gordon (Tracey), and Renee all from Stephenville Crossing; 27 wonderful grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; two brothers: Don, Phonse; six sisters: Beatrice, Cecila, Stella, Venetia, Mercy, and Margo all from Newfoundland as well as a large circle of family and friends. She was predeceased by her mother Margaret Young, father Walter King, brother Ronnie and one granddaughter Alissa Marie. Visitation will take place on Wednesday from 2 … 4 and 7 - 9 p.m. at Fillatre’s Funeral Home, West Street, Stephenville Crossing. Cremation will take place at Humber Valley Crematorium following the visitation. The funeral mass will be held on Friday, September 23, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. from St. Ann’s Chapel in Flat Bay with Father Gerard Patry officiating. Interment will follow the service in the Roman Catholic Cemetery in St. Teresa’s. As expressions of sympathy flowers are graciously accepted or donations may be made to The Heart and Stroke Foundation. He leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories his four sons: Aaron (Judy), Corner Brook, Bill (Peggy), Frenchman’s Cove, Darren and Jason, Benoit’s Cove; 5 grandchildren: Morgan, Kathleen, Sara, Mackenzie and Jonathan; 1 great grandchild: Ethan James; brothers and sisters: Alphonses (Rita) O’Connell, Lorne (Sandra) O’Connell, Anita (Danny) Lewis, Jerry (Shirley) O’Connell, Maxine Wayson, Caroline (Gus) Jones, Bernetta Critch and Martin O’Connell; as well as many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Predeceased by his loving wife, Mary (Mame) O’Connell; his parents: John and Kathleen. He is once again united with his loving and devoted wife, Jean (nee Pike). He leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories his children: Stephen (Jean), Ontario, Karen (Andy) Loder, Summerside, Murdock Jr. (Nancy), Ontario, Olga (Dan) Green, Ontario, Bruce (Leeanne), Corner Brook, Pamela (Tim) Schwartzentruber, Ontario, Bertha Prosper Hunt, British Columbia; 17 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren; brother: Hector (Eva) Prosper; brothers-in-law: Eric (Betty) Pike and Jim Whiteway; sisters-in-law: Margaret (Danny) McCarthy, Evelyn (Lloyd) Colbourne, Betty Parsons and Cora Pike; as well as a large circle of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was predeceased by his wife Minnie in 1995.
