ROXANNA (ROXY) HUDSON
OCTOBER 15, 1912 – NOVEMBER 23, 2011

ST. GEORGE’S, NL - The family and friends of Roxy (mom) wish to announce her passing on Wednesday, November 23, 2011 at the age of 99 years. Lovingly remembered by her son Bill (Linda) Hudson of Little Rapids; daughter Ruby (Ron) Smyth of Victoria, BC; grandson Jim Hudson (Sherry) of Corner Brook; granddaughters: Marsha (Don) Tulk of Middle Cove, NL, Sheilagh (Wade) Smyth-Borthwick, Jennifer Smyth of Victoria, BC; great-grandchildren: Max Chrappa, Willem & Miller Tulk of NL, Lucy and James of Victoria, BC; sister Hazel Head in Grand Falls; brother Ron (Maria) Butt in Heatherton; stepbrothers Don (Marcella) MacDonald, Calgary, John MacDonald plus many relatives and friends in Nfld and across Canada. She was predeceased by her husband James Edward Hudson in 1990; mother Wilhelmina MacDonald in 1986; father John Norris Butt in 1926; stepfather John MacDonald in 1961 and sister Mable Snow in 2002. Visitation will take place at Fillatre’s Funeral Home, Stephenville Crossing on Friday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral Service will be held at St. Mary the Virgin Anglican Church in St. George’s on Saturday, November 26, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Kathryn Eddy officiating. Interment following the service will be in the United Church Cemetery, St. George’s. In her memory donations may be made to St. Mary the Virgin Anglican Church in St. George’s. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Fillatre’s Funeral Home, Stephenville Crossing.

SAMSON, LLOYD
September 11, 1939 … November 22, 2011

River of Ponds, NL - It is with great sadness that the family of the late Lloyd Samson announce his passing on Tuesday, November 22nd, 2011 at Western Memorial Regional Hospital in Corner Brook at the age of 72 years. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories his devoted and loving partner of 31 years, Annie Bursey; special nephew: Todd Samson; Annie’s children: Judy (Glen) Cooper, Ann Marie (Perry) Cooper and Robert (Nancy) Bursey; five grandchildren and one great granddaughter; sisters: Effie (Harold) House, Eunice (Herb) Tucker, Jean Samson, Vera (Wilfred) Patey and Bride Whey; brothers: James, Jerry (Roslyn), Dion and Morris (Sheila); stepmother: Mrs. Mary Samson; brothers and sisters-in-law: Bob (Joan) Johnson, Frank (Jean) Johnson, Wanda (Allan) Dalley and Wayne (Donna) Johnson; as well as a large circle of nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. He was predeceased by his parents: James and Dolly; sister: Dolly; and grandmother, Dorcas Samson and brother-in-law: Hughie Whey. Friends may visit the Anglican Church in River of Ponds on Thursday evening beginning at 6:00 p.m. from where the funeral service will be held on Friday, November 25th at 2:00 p.m. Reverend Marlene Harvey officiating. The interment will follow at the Pentecostal cemetery. As expressions of sympathy, in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the ALS Society.

Doris Edna Wells

Port Sauders, NL - It is with great sadness that the family of the late Doris Wells announce her passing on Sunday, November 20th, 2011 at Rufus Guinchard Health Centre in Port Saunders at the age of 71 years. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories her husband: Tom; son: Kenneth; granddaughter: Julietta; grandson: Donovan; great grandchildren: Parker and Sophia; sisters: Renne (George), Anchor Point, Peal (Sam), River of Ponds, Catherine, Corner Brook, and May (Henry), Port Saunders; brothers: Dwight (Brenda), Otto (Bonnie), Brampton, ON, Frederick (Pat), Manley, London, ON., Walter (Irene), Hawkes Bay; brother-in-law: Don Verge, Deer Lake; and a large circle of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was predeceased by her parents: Thomas and Muriel Sheppard; sister: Philmon Verge; brothers: Thomas and Kenneth; sister-in-law: Lydia. The family will be receiving friends from Good Tidings Pentecostal Church in Port Saunders on Tuesday, 7-9:00 p.m. from where the funeral service will take place on Wednesday, November 23rd at 1:00 p.m., Pastor Jenkins officiating. The Interment to follow at the Anglican Cemetery in River of Ponds. As expressions of sympathy flowers are graciously accepted or donations can be made to a charity of one’s choice. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Fillatre’s Funeral Home, Port Au Choix.

Port Saunders, NL - It is with great sadness that the family of the late Barbara House announce her passing on Saturday, November 19th, 2011 at Western Memorial Regional Hospital in Corner Brook at the age of 48 years. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories her husband, Dan; daughters: Jinene (Desmond), Port Saunders, Ashley (Dwayne), Deer Lake; grandchildren: Dakota and Donovan; parents: Leonard and Edna House, River of Ponds; sister: Joanne (Troye); brothers: Evan (Connie), Junior (Ellisa), Russell (Gladys); extended family: Laura (Wilfred), Elaine (Steve), Sidney (Jill), Stephen (Vicky), Nicholas; mother-in-law: Hepsey House; brothers-in-law: Craig (Lisa), Clan (Brenda) and Derek; and a large circle of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. The family will be receiving friends from St. John the Divine Anglican Church in Port Saunders on Sunday evening and Monday from where the funeral Service will take place on Tuesday, November 22nd, at 2:00 p.m. Interment to follow at the Interfaith Cemetery, Sandy Cove. A s expressions of sympathy, flowers are graciously accepted or donations may be made to the charity of one’s choice.

Mildred Margaret CHAYTOR (nee Wheeler)
November 13, 1924 - November 18, 2011

Halfway Point, NL - It is with great sadness that the family of the late Mildred Chaytor announce her peaceful passing at Corner Brook Long Term Care on Friday, November 18th, 2011 at the age of 87 years. Leaving to mourn with fond and precious memories, husband Cyril; children: Mona, Gregory (Veronica Hynes), Josephine, Monty (Mary Kelly) and Aiden (Karen Hynes); 10 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; sister-in-law Mary Wheeler (late Leo), as well as a large circle of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Mildred was last living member of the Wheeler family. She was predeceased by her son Everett Chaytor; daughter Betty Chaytor and her husband Ron Scott; mother Mary Elizabeth (nee Gallant); father Thomas Wheeler; brothers: Harold, Wilfred (Gertrude), Clifton (Ida), Bernard, Leo, Clayton (Cecilia), Austin (Alva); sisters: Edna (Harold) Companion, Gerona (Arthur) Donahue and Eva (Thomas) Burke. Friends may visit Fillatre’s Funeral Home, 218 Curling Street on Sunday from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. The Funeral Service will take place on Monday, November 21st at 1:00 p.m. from Our Lady Star of the Sea RC Parish, Benoit’s Cove. Corner Brook, NL - Passed peacefully away at her home in Mountain View Estates, on Thursday, November 17th, 2011 Anne Grant at the age of 93 years. Left to celebrate her life are her sons: John (Helen) Elliston, Gary (Shirley), Cape Ray, David (Jacqueline), Corner Brook; daughters: Patricia (James) Smith, Ottawa, ON, Maureen (David) Haynes, Ottawa, ON, Doris (Bill) Myles, Tantallon, NS, Brenda (George) Buffett, Corner Brook, Dianne (Bob) Bedford, Halifax, NS, Catherine (Gary) Devine, Halifax, NS, Carol Anne (Clyde) Cooper, Lower Sackville, NS, Sharon (Carl) Peach, Salmon Cove, Janet (Chris) Noseworthy, Palm Springs, CA, Beverly (Mike) Renchko, Kitchener, ON and Michelle (Jack) Dempsey, Lyons Brook, NS; 43 grandchildren; 38 great grandchildren; brother and best friend: Bill O’Keefe; brother Clem; sisters: Evelyn, Hilda and Imelda; very special family friend, Bob Grant; friends and staff at Mountain View Estates and a large circle of relatives and friends. Predeceased by her husband, Patrick Joseph Grant; daughter: Margaret Rose (Peggy) McCarthy; grandson: Jeffrey Bedford; sister: Loretta Green; brothers: Arthur and Aloysuis O’Keefe and parents: Mary and David O’Keefe. KARL ANDREW CHARLES McFATRIDGE
JUNE 3, 1927 – NOVEMBER 14, 2011

STEPHENVILLE CROSSING, NL - Passed away peacefully at Sir Thomas Roddick Hospital in Stephenville, NL on November 14, 2011at the age of 84 years, Karl Andrew Charles McFatridge. Predeceased by his daughter Janet Marie, May 1964. He leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories his wife of 60 years Cora; children: Nancy (Rick) Nova Scotia, Wade (Terri), Stephenville, Heather (Larry), Stephenville Crossing, Jeff (Alfreda), Deer Lake, Kerry (Linda), Stephenville; grandchildren: Ian, Kyle, Evan, Michael, Janet, Wendy; sisters Norma, Melba, USA and a large circle of family and friends. He was a long time businessman in the community. He had a passion for woodworking and find-a-word puzzles. He will be missed by his furry friend Charlie (his cat) who spent many hours curled up next to him. Thanks to the Palliative Care Unit at Sir Thomas Roddick Hospital. Visitation will take place at Fillatre’s Funeral Home, West Street, Stephenville Crossing on Wednesday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. The Funeral service will take place from All Saints Anglican Church in, Stephenville Crossing on Thursday, November 17, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Gwen Butler officiating. Interment will take place following the service in the Anglican Cemetery in Stephenville Crossing. As expressions of sympathy flowers are graciously accepted or donations may be made to a charity of one’s choice. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Fillatre’s Funeral Home, Stephenville Crossing.
