Dr. Richard John Sturmey Harley

Steady Brook, NL - Passed away suddenly on Friday, March 2nd, 2012, Dr. Richard Harley, an extremely caring Radiologist and devoted husband. Leaving to mourn; his loving wife Kelly (nee Burt); his father: Dr. Brian Harley Sr.; sisters: Alison (Doug O’Keefe), Caroline (Tom Alteen) and Jacqueline; as well as his mother-in-law: Margaret; brother-in-law: Craig; sister-in-law: Belle (Duane) and many nieces, nephews, other relatives, friends, colleagues and co-workers. Friends may visit Fillatre’s Funeral Home, 4 St. Marks Avenue on Sunday from 2-4 and 7-9:00 p.m. The funeral service will be held on Monday, March 5th at 11:00 AM from the Pepsi Centre Annex, with Marilyn Avery officiating. Richard tremendously enjoyed his work, dogs, hunting, salmon fishing, snowmobiling, motorcycling, and love of life with good company, nature and his Lomond River. As expressions of sympathy, in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Bay of Islands SPCA, SPAWN or Western Memorial Regional Hospital Foundation.

RAYMOND ANDREW POLLETT
May 16, 1934 - February 26, 2012

Corner Brook, NL - It is with great sadness that the family of the late Raymond Andrew Pollett announce his passing on Sunday, February 26, 2012 at the Corner Brook Long Term Care Facility at the age of 77 years. He leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories his son Troy (Elaine); daughter Nicole; grandson Andrew; brother Earl (Ruth) Pollett; sisters- and brother-in-law: Alma Walsh, Ruby Ballard, James Gosse (Dulcie), Joyce Simmons (Nelson), Mary Colbourne (Paul), Doreen Higden (James), Linda Hefford (James)and Annette Bonin (Paul); as well as a large circle of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was predeceased by his wife Margaret, 2007. Parents George and Evelyn Pollett, brothers Walwyn Pollett and Bernard Pollett, parents-in-law Stephen and Flora Gosse, Special pets Chippy, Sonny, Diamond and Snoopy. Friends may visit Fillatre’s Funeral Home, 4 St. Mark’s Avenue on Monday from the hours of 7-9 p.m. and Tuesday 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. The funeral service will be held on Wednesday, February 29 at 2:00 p.m. from the Salvation Army Temple, Citadel Drive with Major Calvin Fudge officiating. Interment to follow at Mount Patricia Cemetery. As expressions of sympathy in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Bay of Islands SPCA or to a charity of one’s choice.

Rev. Father William Joseph KELLY
1926-2012

Passed peacefully away at St Patrick’s Mercy Home, St. John’s on Sunday, February 26, 2012, Father Joe Kelly in his 87th year. Predeceased by his parents William Kelly and Alice Mae (Howard) Kelly and his sisters Dorothy Lake, Elizabeth Kelly, Esther Stack, Margaret Kelly and niece Betty Jo Stack. Father Kelly is survived by his sister Mary St Cyr and nieces and nephews Bernardine Russell, Paula Smyth, Clare Craig, Mary Vanzanten, Joe Lake, Geraldine Foley, Margaret Stack Nissan, Robert St Cyr and their families. Father Kelly grew up in Daniel's Cove, Trinity Bay and attended St Augustine’s Seminary in Scarborough, ON. He was ordained on June 5, 1954 and served in the Diocese of St. George’s and the Dioceses of Corner Brook and Labrador. Upon retirement Father Kelly spent his summers at his ancestral home in Daniel's Cove, Trinity Bay among family and friends, particularly Edmund and Mary Kelly and Lillian Spurrel. His winters were spent on the West Coast with his fellow Priests, parishioners and friends of whom he spoke with deep admiration and affection. Father Kelly's family wishes to thank the staff at St Patrick's Mercy Home for their compassion and care. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, February 29 from the hours of 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. at the Cathedral of the Most Holy Redeemer, Mount Bernard Avenue, Corner Brook from where the Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, March 1 at 10:30 a.m. with the Principal Celebrant, The Most Rev. Peter Hundt, Bishop of Corner Brook and Labrador and Father John Molloy, the homilist. Interment to follow at Mount Patricia Cemetery. As expressions of sympathy, donations may be made in Father Kelly's name to the “Shepherd Fund”, Bank of Montreal, 1 West Street, Corner Brook, NL.

Elizabeth “Frances” Pennell

Benoit's Cove, NL - Passed peacefully away at Western Memorial Regional Hospital on Thursday, February 23rd, 2012, Frances Pennell at the age of 93 years. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories is her son: Vincent Pennell (Molly); grandchildren: Keith (Darlene), Lori Ann (Jagadish), Cory (Trina), Draper (Stephanie) and Terri Lynn (Jonathon); great grandchildren: Chris, Leslie, Jamie, Somia, Alexandra, Kaitlyn, Breyden, Page, Madison and MacKenzie; sisters: Veronica Greene and Bride Greene (Ron); as well as a large circle of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Predeceased by her husband Leslie; grandson: Vincent; sister and brothers: Dorothy, Ray, Ben and Patrick. The Funeral Mass will take place on Saturday, February 25th at 10:30 AM from Our Lady Star of the Sea Parish, Benoit's Cove, Father Edmund Camacho officiating, followed by interment at the church cemetery. Friends may visit Fillatre’s Funeral Home, 218 Curling Street on Friday from 2-4 and 7-9:00 p.m. As expressions of sympathy, flowers are graciously accepted or donations may be made the charity of one’s choice.

Mabel Lillian Hann
1927-2012

It is with great sadness that the family of the late Mabel Lillian Hann announce her passing on Thursday, February 23rd, 2012 at Calder Health Centre in Burgeo at the age of 85 years. Friends may visit Faith United Church in Burgeo on Friday between the hours of 2-4 & 7-9 p.m., from where the funeral service will take place on Saturday, February 25th at 2:00 p.m., Reverend Wilson Gonese officiating. Interment will follow at the community cemetery. As expressions of sympathy, flowers are graciously accepted.

ISABEL FLORENCE LAWRENCE
September 19, 1913 … February 24, 2012-02-25

Corner Brook, NL - Passed away peacefully at Corner Brook Long Term Care Facility on Friday, February 24, 2012 in the presence of her loving family, Isabel Florence Lawrence at the age of 98 years. Forever remembered and cherished by her family, she leaves to mourn her five children: Edward (Berneice), Pasadena, Cecil, Corner Brook, Grace Hutchings, Pasadena, Joan Lawrence, Corner Brook, and Phyllis (Dougald) Noel; ten grandchildren: Clay Hutchings, Denise (Jeff) Vey, Cindy Toye, Geoffrey (Janet) Noel, Lisa (Kyle) Jensen, Ian Hutchings, Lesley (Glenn) Ward, Gregory (Donna) Noel, Eddie (Carolyn) Lawrence, Tina Lawrence; and fourteen great-grandchildren: Zackary, Megan, Andrew, Samantha, Jamie, Matthew, Danielle, Shaun, Kristen, Rhiann, Adam, Rhys, Liam and Harry. She also leaves to mourn sisters, Elsie Lundrigan and Martha Legge, sisters-in-law Annie Smith, Ruth Ridolfo, and special sister-in-law Edith Lawrence as well as numerous nephews and nieces. Isabel was predeceased by her husband of 66 years, Archibald (2001), brothers Joseph Curtis (2000) and Edmund Curtis (1994), and son-in-law Clayton Hutchings (2003). Family and friends will be received at Fillatres Funeral Home, 4 St. Marks Ave. on Sunday, 7-9 p.m. and Monday from the hours of 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. The funeral service will be held on Tuesday, February 28 at 2:00 p.m. from All Saints Anglican Church, Clarence Street with Rev. Tanya White and Rev. Derek Thomas officiating. Burial to follow at Mount Patricia Cemetery. As expressions of sympathy, donations may be made to All Saints Anglican Church or Western Memorial Regional Hospital Foundation.

Herbert Norman Young

Corner Brook, NL - It is with great sadness that the family of the late Herbert Young announce his passing at Western Memorial Regional Hospital on Friday, February 24th, 2012 at the age of 91 years. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories is his wife of 70 years, Molly (nee Sheppard); sons: Roy (Jane), Eric (Peggy) and Brian (Marg); daughter: Debbie (Keith); two special granddaughters: Lisa, London, ON and Lana Childs (Roland); 10 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren and four great great grandchildren; as well as many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Predeceased by his daughter-in-law: Marie; parents: Norman and Elizabeth Young; three brothers and two sisters. Visitation will be held at Fillatre’s Funeral Home, 4 St. Marks Avenue on Saturday evening, 7-9:00 P.M. and Sunday, 2-4 and 7-9:00 P.M. The funeral service will take place on Monday, February 27th at 2:00 p.m. from St. Michael's and All Angels Anglican Church, Park Drive. Reverend Roberta Woodman officiating, with cremation to follow. As expressions of sympathy, flowers are graciously accepted or donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke foundation.
