CROCKER, ELDON WILLIAM
February 16th 1915 - February 3rd 2012

Trout River - It is with great sadness that the family of the late Eldon Crocker announce his passing on Friday, February 3rd 2012, from the Bonne Bay Hospital in Norris Point at the age of 96. He leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories his sister Flora (Scott) Brake, Niece Sharon Hann, with whom he resided, special cousins: Una Jacobs, Olive Payne, Bessie Crocker, Allan McLean, sisters in law: Gladys Sheppard, Edna Sheppard and Annie Sheppard, as well as a large circle of other cousins, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was predeceased by wife Mildred, grandparents John and Elizabeth Crocker, mother Winifred, sisters and brothers: Vera (Freeman) Crocker, Loretta (Raymond) White, Vivian (Gordon) Cluett, Reginald (Mary) Crocker and Luke Crocker. Visitation was held on Saturday from 7-9PM and Sunday from 2-4 and 7-9 PM from the St. Simon, St Jude Anglican Church in Trout River from where the funeral service will be held on Monday February 6th at 2PM with Rev. Charlene Laing officiating, with interment to follow at the Anglican Cemetery, Trout River. As expressions of sympathy flowers are graciously accepted or donations may be made to the Anglican Church Fund. Funeral arrangements entrusted to Fillatre’s Funeral Home, 10 Clinic Drive, Deer Lake.

GEORGE McILWRAITH SMITH
April 12, 1930 - February 3, 2012

Corner Brook, NL - Passed away at Western Memorial Hospital, Corner Brook, George McIlwraith Smith in his 82nd year. Leaving to mourn his loving wife Theresa (nee Downey), children Sheila (Eric Guile), Carolyn (John Bouchard), Jamie (Louise White), Greg (Irene Muzychka), Tina, Paula (Jessé Saunders), Laura (Stephen McGuigan), and grandchildren Trevor and Devon Guile, Nicholas, Christopher (Casey) and Sarah Bouchard, Michael and Richard Smith, Andrew and Stefanie Smith, Maxwell, Alexander and Maria Fillatre, Sophie Saunders and Alison and Brendan McGuigan. Visitation will take place at Fillatre’s Funeral Home, 4 Mark’s Avenue on Monday from the hours 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. The Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, February 7 at 1:30 p.m. from the Cathedral of the Most Holy Redeemer, Mount Bernard Avenue with Father Ambrose Hynes and Rev. Clayton Parsons officiating. Interment to take place at a later date. As expressions of sympathy flowers graciously accepted.

WILFRED PETER “WIFF” STRATTON
October 19, 1921 - February 1, 2012

Massey Drive, NL - It is with profound sadness that the family of Wilfred Peter Stratton announce his passing on Wednesday, February 1, 2012 at the Western Memorial Regional Hospital at the age of 90 years. Wiff was one of the first residents of Massey Drive. Left with a sense of emptiness in our lives are his wife of 34 years, Phyllis (Yates), daughters Judi (Gene), Carol (Andrew), Lynda (Duke) and Nancy; son Peter (Joy); stepsons Brian, Wayne (Tracy) and Kerry; 10 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren and 6 step grandchildren; brother Ray (Joan), sister Ruby and brothers Rodney (Jessie), Edgar (Kitty) and David (Patricia); and sisters Muriel (Ira), Marjorie (Lindy), Huldah (Gordon) and June (Charlie) as well as many nieces, nephews and friends. He was predeceased by his first wife Mary (Minnie); son Ricky; parents Abel and Mildred (Dwyer) Stratton; stepmother Jessie; brother Edgar (childhood) and brother Winston (in infancy) and brother-in-law William Lee. Friends may visit Fillatre’s Funeral Home, 4 St. Marks Avenue on Friday from the hours of 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. The funeral service will be held on Saturday, February 4 at 2:00 p.m. from Fillatre’s Funeral Home Chapel, St. Mark’s Avenue with Rev. Myles Vardy officiating. Interment to follow at Mount Patricia Cemetery. As expressions of sympathy donations can be made to the Alzheimer Society of Newfoundland & Labrador.

Herman Lloyd “Tim” Stratton
November 5, 1932 – January 31, 2012

Corner Brook, NL - Passed away Tuesday, January 31, 2012, Herman Lloyd “Tim” Stratton, aged 79 years at the Corner Brook Long Term Care Home. He will be sadly missed by his loving family: Paul (Betty), Janet (Darren McWhirter), Corner Brook, Joanne (Reg Rose), Barrington, NS; grandchildren: Julia, Matthew, Daniel, Mark, Jenna, Michael, Hillary, Sarah and Emily; brother: Frank. He was predeceased by his loving wife of 47 years Jessie in 2000; sister: Marie and parents, Edwin and Eva Stratton. Tim will be missed by special friend Marina Allen as well as a large circle of friends and relatives. The funeral service will be held Saturday, February 4th at 2:00 PM from Oakland United Church, Reverend Kim Waite officiating; followed by interment at Mt. Patricia Cemetery. The family will be receiving friends at Fillatre’s Funeral Home, 4 St. Marks Avenue Thursday, 7-9:00 PM and Friday 2-4 and 7-9 PM. As expressions of sympathy, flowers or donations to the Kidney Foundation are greatly accepted.

ELSIE L. BLANCHARD
January 10, 1921 - February 2, 2012

McIver’s, NL - Passed peacefully away on Thursday, February 2, 2012 at the Western Memorial Regional Hospital, Elsie L. Blanchard at the age of 91 years. She leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories her daughter Doreen; sister Gertrude (Bill) Sharpe; as well as a large circle of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Cremation has taken place at Humber Valley Crematorium and a private family memorial service will be held. As expressions of sympathy no flowers by request, donations may be made to the Western Memorial Regional Hospital, Palliative Care Unit or to the Special Olympics of Newfoundland and Labrador. A memorial donation will be made to the Mummers Society of Newfoundland and Labrador and the Mountainview Home in Meadows by the family, which was so very near and dear to Elsie’s Heart. Funeral arrangements entrusted to Fillatre’s Funeral Home, 4 St. Mark’s Avenue.

Philip Edward McCarthy
1991-2012

It is with great sadness that the family of Philip Edward McCarthy announce his sudden passing on Monday, January 30th, 2012 in Fort McMurray, Alberta at the age of 20. He leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories his mother Barbara McCarthy, father Kenneth McCarthy (Vickie), brother Joshua (Effie), grandparents Robert and Mary McCarthy; aunts and uncles: Betty Milley, Linda (Robert) Benoit, Roy Milley, Gord Milley, Roberta Giesbrecht (Walter), James McCarthy (Debbie), Clifford McCarthy, Donna Lee (Stephen), Deanna Hulan (Roger); his extended family also included Joshua, Jessica, Destiny and Kirkland, as well as a large number of cousins and many friends. Philip was predeceased by his grandparents Edward and Doris Milley and uncle Robert Milley.The funeral service will be held Monday, February 6th, 1:30 p.m. from The SonRise Ministries Family Faith Church, Wellington Street Corner Brook, Pastor Jonathan Rogers officiating. The interment service will follow the funeral sercice at Mt. Patricia Cemetery. Predeceased by her husband, Roy Street; daughter: Margaret Gillis and parents: Joseph and Maggie Young. Visitation will take place from Fillatre’s Funeral Home, 4 St. Marks Avenue on Wednesday from 2-4 and 7-9:00 p.m. The funeral service will be held on Thursday, February 2nd at 11:00 A.M. from Fillatre’s Funeral Home Chapel, Majors Calvin and Loretta Fudge officiating. Interment to follow at Mt. Patricia cemetery. As expressions of sympathy, flowers are graciously accepted or donations in her memory may be made to the Parkinson’s Society.
