HAPGOOD, Mildred Jane (nee Legge) – Passed peacefully away on August 29, 2007 at the Hoyles Escasoni Complex, in the presence of her family, Mildred Jane Hapgood, aged 84 years. Predeceased by her husband Thomas, infant daughter Laura, sisters Annie and Ina, brothers Lewis and Caleb. Leaving to mourn daughters Daphne (Peter Hiscock), Pearl (Sam Bromley), Diane (Roger Hollahan), Debbie (Terry Chafe); sons Winston (Eileen), Ches (Marie); thirteen grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren, special niece Geraldine Legge (Ron), and a large circle of other nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. A special thank-you to St. Clare’s 7 East staff and the staff of the Hoyles-Escasoni Transition Unit. Resting at Caul’s Funeral Home, LeMarchant Road. Visitation Thursday and Friday from 2 p.m. - 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. - 9 p.m. Funeral Service on Saturday, September 1, 2007 at 10 a.m. from Caul’s Chapel. Interment to follow at the Field of Honor, Mount Pleasant Cemetery. Flowers gratefully accepted or donations can be made to a charity of ones choice.

HILLIARD, Margaret (October 22, 1950 - August 29, 2007) – God and his angels have called Margaret (Margie) home to be with her devoted and loving parents Jack and Mary Ellen Hilliard. Margie passed away in hospital in the presence of her loving family, age 56 years. Margie’s special needs during her lifetime have been a true blessing to us. Her life was filled with giving love and happiness to all who knew her. We will miss her beautiful blue eyes and warm disposition. Her passing will leave a void in our hearts that will never be filled. She will be sadly missed by her sister, brother-in-law and brother Bernie and Ken Schabell and Alfred Hilliard of Jerseyside, NL with whom she resided; sister Angela Durrell (Wayne), Maine; brothers: Percy (Nancy), Ontario, Joe Hynes (Helen), Victoria, B.C.; her niece Kim Brennan (Bill); nephews: Ted Schabell and Curtis Schabell (Chandra); and precious great-nieces: Kendra Perham and Bailey Schabell; special friends: Donna Greene, Diane White, and Theresa Thorne. In addition, Margie has many special nieces and nephews and extended family members living in Placentia, St. John’s and throughout Canada and the United States. Margie will be resting at Maher’s Funeral Home, Placentia, on Thursday, August 30, 2007, from 7:30 p.m. to 10 p.m. and on Friday, August 31, 2007 from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 7:30 to 9 p.m. Service will be held at Maher’s Funeral Home on Saturday, September 1, 2007, at 10:30 a.m. Interment to follow at Sacred Heart Cemetery, Placentia.

MYERS, Mary (Nee Dawe) – Passed peacefully away at St. Patrick’s Mercy Home, on Monday, August 27, 2007, age 86 years of Kelligrews. Predeceased by her husband Michael 1979, daughters: Barb 1993, Arlene 1988, grandchildren: Wade 1984, Michelle 1992. Left with fond and cherished memories sons: Patrick (Yvonne), Don (Wini), Mike (Linda), Gerry (Vicki), Rick (Wonda), Des; daughters: Madonna (Larry), Rowena (John); grandchildren; great-grandchildren; brother Patrick; sisters: Rita and Nell. Also, a large circle of other relatives and friends. Visitation in the James J. Hickey Memorial Funeral Home, Kelligrews on Thursday and Friday 10-12 noon, 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial in St. Edwards R.C. Church, Kelligrews on Saturday, September 1, 2007 at 10 a.m. Interment in the R.C. Cemetery, Kelligrews.

PITTMAN, James – Passed peacefully away at St. Clare’s Mercy Hospital on Thursday, August 30, 2007, age 68 years. Predeceased by his parents: Cyril and Lorraine (nee Lake); sisters: Mary, Dorothy and Lorraine; brothers: Tom, Brian, Aubrey and Eugene. Left to mourn with fond and loving memories sister Ethel Robinson; brothers: Gordon (Jenny), Cyril (Anne), Kevin (Beth), Derm (Betty), Russ (Heidi), and Pat (Ina); also, aunts, uncles, a large number of nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends. Resting at Maher’s Funeral Home, Placentia, on Friday, August 31, 2007 from 2 to 9 p.m. Funeral Mass at Sacred Heart Church, Placentia, on Saturday, September 1, 2007, at 1:30 p.m. Cremation to follow. Inurnment on Monday, September 3, 2007 at Mt. Carmel Cemetery, Placentia. Flowers gratefully accepted or donations may be made to Diabetes Association of Canada or Heart and Stroke Foundation.

EVELY, Theresa G., (nee George) – of Carbonear, who passed away peacefully at the Interfaith Citizens Home, Carbonear on Wednesday, August 29, 2007. Mrs. Evely was in her 86th year. She leaves to mourn her loving family: sons: Joseph (Judy) Evely, Fred (Sharon) Evely, Clarence (Lola) Evely; daughters: Florence (Gary) Voyce, Phyllis Lorent; sister Grace McCarthy. Predeceased by: husband Wilbert Evely; parents Matthew & Anne George; daughter-in-law Marlene Evely (nee Levitt); and a large number of other relatives and friends. The Funeral Mass will take place at St. Patrick’s R.C. Church, Carbonear, on Saturday, September 1, 2007 at 10:30 A.M. The Family will be receiving relatives and friends at SLADE’S FUNERAL HOME, POWELL DRIVE, CARBONEAR between the hours of 2 - 5 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. Friday. As expressions of sympathy flowers are gratefully accepted or donations may be made in her memory to the Trinity Conception Placentia Health Foundation. The Evely Family will be receiving family and friends at a reception following the Funeral Mass at the Knights of Columbus Carbonear. BAGGS, Martha Jane – August 28, 2007. Passed peacefully away on August 28, 2007 at the Central Newfoundland Regional Health Center, Martha Baggs at the age of 80 years. Predeceased by her husband, William; son, Norman; brothers: William and Job; sisters: Rita and Annie Lou; parents: Edward and Rebecca Easton. Left to mourn with fond and loving memories her sons: David (Marie), Edward (Violet), both of Clarenville, Randy (Wanda) of Steady Brook, Paul (Verna) of Grand Falls-Windsor and Sherwin (Jennifer) of Badger; daughters: Lorraine (William) Papineau of Pickering, ON, Lillian (Mark) of Seagrave, ON, Janet of Badger and Yvonne (Ken) of North Bay, ON; daughter-in-law Diane of Clarenville. Also leaving to mourn sister Barbara Rideout and brothers: Charles (Alvina) and Edward (Joyce); twenty-two grandchildren; twenty-three great-grandchildren and a large circle of other relatives and friends. Visitation will take place from Sunset Memorial Funeral Home on Thursday, August 30, 2007 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. The funeral service will be held on Friday, August 31, 2007 at 2:00 p.m. from the Salvation Army Citadel, Circular Road with Captains Morris and Wanda Vincent officiating. Interment at the Salvation Army Cemetery, Union Street. Donations in her memory may be made to the Heart and Stroke Association. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Sunset Memorial Funeral Home. Pallbearers are: sons: David, Edward, Randy, Paul, Sherwin and grandson Cory.

HAYWARD, David – Passed away suddenly on August 17, 2007, David Hayward in his 48th year. Predeceased by his father Aloysius in 2004 and his brother Denis, January 1957. Left to mourn his sad loss his loving wife Linda, two daughters Nena and Denise of Paris, ON; his mother Margaret Hayward of Newfoundland; two sons Aloysius (Chris) of Hamilton, ON; Luke (Gale), Hamilton, ON; three sisters Catherine (Patrick), Burlington, ON; Elizabeth (Morley) of St. Vincents, NL; Margie (Geno) of Scarborough, ON; one uncle Kevin Hayward of St. Vincents, NL; one aunt Agnes Gibbons of St. Patrick’s Home, St. John’s; and a large circle of cousins, relatives and friends. Mass of Christian Burial celebrated by Fr. Mike Bennett. His final resting place Holy Cross Cemetery, Paris, ON.

KELLUM-SMITH, Elsie May – August 24, 2007. Predeceased by her parents Azariah and Leah Smith; also, brothers: Eli, John and Fred; sisters: Grace Manning, Rose Bromley and Gertie Snow; and son Ricky. Leaving to mourn her husband of 52 years, Jim Kellum; one son and five daughters; two sisters: Edith (Harry Davidson), Langley, B.C., Betty (Harry Wiseman), Mt. Pearl, NL; and many other relatives and friends. Funeral took place in Grapeland, Texas, on August 27, 2007.

LEDREW, Lily – Passed peacefully away at A.M. Guy Memorial, Buchan, NL on August 16, 2007, Mrs. Lily LeDrew, age 81 years. Predeceased by husband Selby R. LeDrew, father Herbert White, mother Delphine White, brothers: William, Llewlyn and Austin White. Left with loving memories are her sons: Robert L. (Anne) of Buchans, Roger (Tily) of Burlington, Ont., Derreck (Sandra) of Guelph, Ont., Steve (Pauline) of Cambridge, Ont., and Dean (Pamela) of Guelph, Ont.; daughter Linda (Peter) Glavine of Corner Brook, NL.; brothers: Ken (Jean) of St. John’s, NL, Maxwell (Doreen) of Whitby, Ont.; sisters: Katherine of Dildo, NL, Margarite (Tom) Loder of Kelligrews, NL; fourteen grandchildren: Robert P., Brian, Dennis, Damon, Jason LeDrew, Peter and David Glavine, Bart LeDrew, Wayne, Samuel, Shelley LeDrew, Melanie, Stephinie LeDrew, Ryan LeDrew; and twenty-one great-grandchildren. Also a large circle of other relatives and friends. Funeral service was held on Monday, August 20, 2007 from Salvation Army, Buchans. Interment Buchans Community. Donations in her memory may be made to the Salvation Army Church Memorial Fund. Arrangements through Stacey’s Funeral Home, Gander.
