OLIVER, Florence (nee Halliday) – November 29, 1919 - August 26, 2007. Passed peacefully away in the presence of her family on Sunday, August 26, 2007 at the Health Sciences Complex, Florence Oliver of St. John’s formerly of Norman’s Cove, aged 87 years. Predeceased by husband Maxwell, parents: Jessie and William Halliday. Brothers: Wilson and John, sister Minnie and son-in-law Wilbur. Leaving to mourn daughters: Sylvia and Cynthia; stepdaughter Berdina; also lovingly remembered by five grandchildren: Colin and Keith Josephson, Brenda Reid (Lem), Denise Owen (Michael), Mervale Smith (Eileen); six great-grandchildren: Philip and Tyler Reid, Gordon and Nathan Jarvis, Stacey and Matthew Smith; sisters: Janet Wheeler and Elsie Halliday; sister-in-law Mabel Halliday and brother-in-law Ellis Oliver (Sarah) . A large number of nephews, nieces, other relatives and friends. Resting at Warren’s Funeral Home, Dildo with visitation Tuesday, August 28th 2 p.m. - 10 p.m., Wednesday, August 29th 10 a.m. - 12 noon. The funeral service will be held from Faith Pentecostal Church, Norman’s Cove on Wednesday, August 29th at 2 p.m. Interment to follow at Faith Pentecostal Cemetery. As expressions of sympathy flowers gratefully accepted or donations in her memory may be made to a charity of one’s choice.

PARKINSON, Samuel William – Passed peacefully away, in the presence of his family, at St. Clare’s Mercy Hospital, on August 27, 2007, age 77 years. Leaving to mourn sons: Dave, Sam (Loretta), Bill (Jody), Dean, Doug (Rose), Mike, Derick (Jackie); daughters: Annette (Bill), Bonnie (Richard), Theresa (Rick), Donna, Kim, Renee (Geoff); nineteen grandchildren; one great-grandchild; sister Violet Fleet (Isaac) and brother William Parkinson. Resting at Caul’s Funeral Home, LeMarchant Road. Visitation Monday from 7 p.m. - 9 p.m. and Tuesday from 10 a.m. - 4 p.m. Cremation to follow. Funeral Service on Wednesday, August 29, 2007 at a time to be announced from St. Michael and All Angels Church. Inurnment to follow at the Anglican Cemetery, Kenmount Road.

BRETT, Herbert Donald – Passed away at his residence on Monday, August 27, 2007, Herbert Brett of Arnold’s Cove, aged 67 years. Predeceased by his parents Donald and Ethel Brett. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories his wife Iris of 44 years; sons: Adam, Petawawa, ON and Scott (fiancee Pamela Martin), Brampton, ON; daughter Aimee Brett, Brampton, ON; grandson Alexander; brother Fred (Verna), Arnold's Cove; aunt Louise Bishop, St. John's, nieces, nephews, cousins and a large circle of friends. Resting at Fewer’s Funeral Home, Arnold’s Cove 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. Wednesday, August 29, 2007. Funeral service 2:00 p.m. Thursday, August 30, 2007; from First United Church, Arnold’s Cove with interment at Interfaith Cemetery, Arnold’s Cove. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to First United Church, Arnold’s Cove.

LEE, Alban – Passed peacefully away in the presence of his family at the Health Sciences on August 28, 2007, Alban Lee of Riverhead, S.M. Bay, aged 83 years. Predeceased by one son Michael, two daughters: Darlene (Howard) and Glenda. Leaving to mourn with many fond memories Anne (nee Meaney), his devoted wife of 56 years; four sons: Boyd (Rosarie) and their children Michael and Janet; Keith (Donna), their children: Jillian and Julie; Gerard and his son Darren; Denis (Wanda), their children: Daniel and David; daughters: Marilyn (Ron), their children: Scott, Chris, Mark; Peggy (Pat), their children: Stephen, Neil and Leeann; Diane and her son Liam; his son-in-law Jeff Howard and his children: Bailey and Sydney; one brother George (Madonna); two sisters-in-law: Gert (Kevin) and Madeline; five brothers-in-law: Mike Murray, Gordon (Margaret), Jerome (Rosemarie), Eugene (Betty), Kenneth (Maureen); special cousin and friend Peter Lee; and many other nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Resting at Gibbons Funeral Home on Wednesday, August 29, 2007, 2:00 - 4:00 p.m., 7:00 - 9:00 p.m., Thursday, August 30, 2007, 2:00 - 4:00 p.m., 7:00 - 9:00 p.m. No visitation on Friday. Mass of Christian Burial on Friday, August 31, 2007 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Joseph the Worker Church, Riverhead. Burial to follow at Riverhead. Flowers gratefully accepted or donations may be made in his memory to the Bliss Murphy Cancer Clinic.

McLEAN, Mary Emma – 1927 - 2007. Passed peacefully away at CNRHC, in Grand Falls-Windsor surrounded by her loving family on August 22, 2007, Mary E. McLean (Quinlan), age 80 years, of Bishop’s Falls, NL. Mary is predeceased by her son Noel Bartlett (2007) and granddaughter Rosalind (1982) . Leaving to mourn her loving and devoted husband of 52 years, Bill; children: Maureen (Glen O’Keefe) of Mt. Pearl, NL, Jacqueline (Kevin Hynes) of Bishops Falls, NL, Sean (Madonna Barry) of Bishop’s Falls, NL, Michele (Pat Clarke) of St. John’s, NL; Pier (Tom Morris) of Bishop’s Falls, NL, Francine (Larry Wrice) of St. John’s, NL; daughter-in-law Dorothy (Barrett) Bartlett of Fr. McMurray, AB; also leaving to mourn 14 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law: May French, Bernadine Gunn, Floss McLean and Alice McLean; many nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. Rested at Central Funeral Homes in Bishop’s Falls, NL, August 23, 2007 and August 24, 2007. Mass of Christian Burial was held August 25, 2007 at 10:00 a.m. at the Sacred Heart Church in Bishop’s Falls. Interment of her ashes will take place at a later date. Forever in our hearts.

MULROONEY, Francis (Frank) – Passed peacefully away in the presence of his loving family at St. Clare’s Mercy Hospital on August 27, 2007, Francis (Frank) Mulrooney, aged 67 years. Predeceased by his wife Rosemarie and his mother Margaret. Left with fond and loving memories, daughters: Jacinta, Josephine and Lorina; sons: Philip and Maurice; nine grandchildren, as well as a large family. Resting at Caul’s Funeral Home, LeMarchant Road. Visitation Tuesday from 7 p.m. - 9 p.m. and Wednesday from 10 a.m. - 9 p.m. Funeral Mass on Thursday, August 30, 2007 at 2 p.m. from St. Teresa’s Church. MYERS, Mary (Nee Dawe) – Passed peacefully away at St. Patrick’s Mercy Home, on Monday, August 27, 2007, age 86 years of Kelligrews. Predeceased by her husband Michael 1979, daughters: Barb 1993, Arlene 1988, grandchildren: Wade 1984, Michelle 1992. Left with fond and cherished memories sons: Patrick (Yvonne), Don (Wini), Mike (Linda), Gerry (Vicki), Rick (Wonda), Des; daughters: Madonna (Larry), Rowena (John); grandchildren; great-grandchildren; brother Patrick; sisters: Rita and Nell. Also, a large circle of other relatives and friends. Visitation in the James J. Hickey Memorial Funeral Home, Kelligrews on Thursday and Friday 10-12 noon, 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial in St. Edwards R.C. Church, Kelligrews on Saturday, September 1, 2007 at 10 a.m. Interment in the R.C. Cemetery, Kelligrews.

POWER, Gertrude F. (nee Wall) – Passed peacefully away after a courageous battle with cancer on August 28, 2007, surrounded by her loving family, Gertrude Frances Power, age 77 years. Gertrude battled her illness with courage, strength and dignity - teaching all of us to keep our faith. Gertrude was predeceased by her loving husband Alonzo; son Jim and granddaughter Lisa Marie. She leaves to mourn with many fond and loving memories her four daughters: Jocelynne Hussey (Allister), Tina Power, Jacinta Rodgers (Fraser) and Marylou Robertson (Scot); three sons: Alonzo (Doreen), Perry (Eunice) and Brendan; daughter-in-law Pearl Power; brother Leo Wall (Florence); two sisters: Mary Dwyer and Agnes Ford (Cyril); sisters-in-law: Bride (Mary) Glynn and Madeline Ronayne; also leaving to mourn eleven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; a large extended family and circle of friends. Resting at Caul’s Funeral Home, LeMarchant Rd. Visitation on Wednesday from 7 p.m. - 9 p.m. and Thursday from 2 p.m. - 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. - 9 p.m. Funeral Service on Friday, August 31, from Caul’s Chapel, time to be announced. Interment to follow Belvedere Cemetery. Flowers gratefully accepted or donations in her memory may be made to the charity of one’s choice.

RANDELL, Muriel (nee Collett) – Passed peacefully away on Monday, August 27, 2007 at Chancellor Park, Muriel Randell, aged 97 years. Predeceased by her loving husband Samuel in 2003. Leaving to mourn beloved daughters: Audrey Neary (Harry), Aurora, ON and Elaine Grubbs (Berry), Dallas, TX; cherished grandchildren: Deborah Neary (Didier), Barrie, ON and Krysta Betanzos (Todd), Dallas, TX; great-grandchildren: Claire, Matthew, Samuel, Joshua and Laine; other relatives and friends. Resting at Carnell’s Funeral Home, 329 Freshwater Road on Wednesday from 7-9 p.m. and on Thursday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral service to take place from the Chapel of St. Mary the Virgin, Anglican Church, Craigmiller Avenue on Friday, August 31, 2007 at 2:00 p.m. Interment to follow in the Anglican Cemetery, Kenmount Road. Flowers gratefully accepted.
