BURSEY, Glenn Charles – Passed suddenly away at his residence on Aug. 26, 2007, Glenn Charles Bursey (Moose) in his 46th year. Predeceased by his father Charles Leonard (1968) . Left to mourn his loving wife Patricia (Humphries); mother Shirley (Harris); brothers: Darren (Linda) and Craig; nieces: Jennifer and Hannah May; nephew Troy; sister-in-law Brenda (Don); grandmother Mary Harris; mother-in-law Rowena Humphries, Casey the dog, plus a large circle of relatives and many friends from high school, university, law school, who he remained in contact with. A long time member of the Lion’s Club and Football Canada, Glenn was very active in community organizations. Resting at Carnell’s Funeral Home, 329 Freshwater Road. Visitation on Tuesday and Wednesday from 2 p.m. - 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. - 9 p.m. Funeral Service on Thursday, August 30th, 11 a.m. from St. Michael’s Church, St. Clare Ave., St. John’s. Interment to follow at the Anglican Cemetery on Kenmount Road.

BURTON, Myrtle Mildred – Passed peacefully away at Meadow Creek Retirement Center on Monday, August 27, 2007, Myrtle Mildred Burton, aged 86 years. Predeceased by husband Harry. Left with fond and loving memories are three sisters: Gladys Pardy (Fred), Joyce Layte (Gilbert) and Pearl Freake (Bill); nieces, nephews; and a large circle of relatives and friends. Resting at Barrett’s Funeral Home, 328 Hamilton Avenue on Tuesday, August 28, 2007 from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. Funeral service to be held from Barrett’s Chapel on Wednesday, August 29, 2007 at 11:00 a.m. Interment to follow at Mount Pleasant Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to a charity of one’s choice.

FARRELL, Mary “Dolly” – Mary Farrell, daughter of Cyril Turner and Elizabeth Harvey, born in St. John’s Newfoundland on September 12, 1922, passed away peacefully in Toronto on Friday, August 24th, 2007 after a brief battle with Cancer. Mary will be joining her Husband, Joseph William Farrell, her daughters Carmelita and Josephine and Grandson Christopher in heaven. A mother of thirteen, she leaves behind her loving children Catherine, Joseph, Louise, Patricia, Gwenda, Arthur, Claire, Annette, Mary Lou, Greg and John as well as her grandchildren and extended family. Mary’s faith was indestructible, and at the end of her life she was longing to be with the Lord. Her faith supported her throughout her life and she was a devoted parishioner of St. Brigid’s Catholic Church.
Mary was blessed with thirteen beautiful children. She was a woman of great beauty, strength and conviction. She needed nothing and gave away everything. Her compliments to others were in abundance and she could make you feel like a movie star. Mary was a happy, loving, giving, caring and faithful mother, grandmother and friend.
She will be missed by her family, friends and wishes to thank the outstanding staff at the East York Community Care Adult Day program for their dedicated work with seniors.
Everyone is invited to visit at O’Connor Bros. Funeral Home (416-698-9404), 1871 Danforth Avenue, on Monda, August 27th from 4-9pm. A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Brigid’s Catholic Church (416-696-8660), 300 Wolverleigh Blvd. on Tuesday, August 28th at 12 noon.
In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Mary can be made to the East York Community Care Adult Day Program, 840 Coxwell Avenue, Suite 101, Toronto, ON M4C 5T2.

GLEESON, Leo Albert – Passed peacefully away at the Health Sciences Centre on Monday, August 27, 2007, age 68 years of Topsail. Left with fond and loving memories his wife of 45 years, Jeanette; sons: Blair (Kim), Glenn (Maureen); granddaughter Lydia “Poppy’s little girl”; sisters: Helen Smith (Herbert), Nora Hutchings (George), Lucy Nickerson (Nick); brother Bill (Jeanine); mother-in-law Lydia Hiscock; brothers-in-law: Doug Hiscock (Patsy), Lloyd Warford; sisters-in-law: Yvonne Dawe (Gerald), Marina Pachnowski (Stan), Mildred Jennings; Also nieces, nephews and a large circle of relatives and friends. Visitation in the James J. Hickey Memorial Funeral Home, Kelligrews on Tuesday 7-9 p.m. and Wednesday 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral Mass in St. Thomas of Villa Nova Church, Manuels on Thursday, August 30, 2007 at 10:00 a.m. Cremation to follow.

HALL, Ethel (Nee Strugnell) – 1913 - 2007. Passed peacefully away at home August 26, 2007, Ethel Hall age 94. Ethel is predeceased by husband James. Left to mourn with fond and loving memories are sons: Andrew (Madeline), Percy, David, Alan (Vivian) and Munden; daughter Elizabeth; sisters: Aggie Brown, Grace Sears, Alma Murphy, and Myrtle Hudson; brothers: Percy Strugnell and Levi Strugnell; eight grandchildren: Susan (Shane), Michael (Lisa), Robert (Rebeccah), Tonya (Brad) Heather, Richard, Stephen and Susan; four great-grandchildren: Brandon and Ashley Lewis, Laurel Bowne and Zachery Hall. The funeral service will take place from the Holy Trinity Anglican Church on Wednesday, August 29, 2007 at 11:00 a.m. Interment will be at the Interfaith Cemetery in Grand Falls-Windsor. Pallbearers are Percy, David, Richard, Robert, Michael, and Stephen. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Mike Goodyear of Central Funeral Homes.

LINEHAN, Theresa M. (nee Critch) – It is with sadness we announce the passing in the presence of her loving family at the Sir Leonard A. Miller Centre on Monday, August 27, 2007 of our dear mother, Theresa Linehan, aged 78 years of Colinet Island, Admiral’s Beach, and lastly St. Joseph’s, St. Mary’s Bay. Predeceased by parents: Patrick and Mary Critch; sisters: Cecilia, Nora, Margaret Murphy and Mary Meehan; brothers: Con and Michael; husband Austin (2002) . Left with fond and loving memories are daughters: Mary (Frank) Rideout, their children; Sandra (Josh) and Kenneth (Allysa); Lorraine (James) Hearn, their children: David (Kelly) and Natasha (Steve); Elizabeth (Anthony) Daley, their children: Toni, Charles (Nadine) and Austin (Crystal); Eleanor (John) Pike; Christine (Andrew) Daley, their children: Mary, Matthew (Astrid), Robert (Marsha) and Andrew (Kate); and chosen son Joseph (Susan) Linehan, their children: Keli, Abagail and Robin; sisters: Nellie Warford and Elizabeth (Frank) Linehan; great-grandchildren: Ryan, Nicholas, Chelsea, Chad, Matthew, Marc, Liam and Aaron, numerous nieces, nephews and a large circle of extended family and friends. Resting at Queen of the Holy Rosary Church on Tuesday, August 28, 2007 from 12 noon - 7 p.m. and then resting at Enright Memorial Chapel, St. Joseph’s on Wednesday, August 29, 2007 from 1 p.m. - 9 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial on Thursday, August 30, 2007 at 11 a.m. from St. Joseph's Church, St. Joseph’s, St. Mary's Bay. Interment will be in the family plot at Sacred Heart Cemetery, O'Donnell's. Flowers gratefully accepted or donations may be made in her name for the upkeep of Sacred Heart Cemetery, O'Donnell's. Funeral arrangements entrusted to Dunphy’s Funeral Home, Holyrood.

MERCER, Reginald Gaden – November 11, 1926, WWII Veteran Regiment 166. Passed peacefully away at St. Clare’s Hospital on August 26, 2007, surrounded by his loving family. Predeceased by his wife Marjorie Louise (Clark); his sister Lilla and his brother Lewis. Leaving to mourn his children: Carl (Jana), Bob, Shirley (Wally), Cathy (Dave), Lawrence and Terrance (Peggy); brothers: Gerald (Corine), Gander, Eric (Dorothy), North River, Neil (Dorainne/Ann), St. John’s; sister Marina (Ted), Kippens; eight grandchildren: Nikki, Eric, Amber, Brittany, Krista (Kevin), Michael (Sarah), Katie and Joey; one great-grandchild Jacob. Resting at Carnell’s Funeral Home, 329 Freshwater Road on Tuesday from 12 p.m. to 9 p.m. Funeral service will be held at St. Augustine’s Anglican Church, Westerland Road, on Wednesday, August 29, 2007 at 11 a.m. Interment to follow at the Anglican Cemetery, Kenmount Road. Flowers gratefully accepted or donations may be made in Reginald’s memory to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or Daffodil House.

MORRISSEY, Stella – Entered eternal peace in the presence of her family on August 25, 2007. Survived by son Ernest, granddaughter Shauna, great-grandson Edward. Left to che0rish “motherly childhood memories” are Ed Costello (Edna), Pat Costello (Jan), Maish (Chris Buckle), great-nephews: Sean Lyons (Jodi), Mark (April) and Shane Costello; great-niece Wanda Pomeroy (Mark); precious great-great-nephew Evan and great-great-niece Bridget; very special Aunt Nellie Druken, St. John’s. Stella was blessed with another family at Kennedy’s Personal Care Home, Holyrood, where she was cared for with genuine love and support. She will be greatly missed. Visitation in Hickey’s Funeral Home, Holyrood on Tuesday and Wednesday 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial in Assumption R.C. Church, Avondale, on Thursday, August 30, 2007 at 1 p.m. Interment in the family plot at the R.C. Cemetery in Avondale. Flowers gratefully accepted or donations to the S.P.C.A. or a charity of one’s choice.
