Jones, Boyd Alexander

Halfway Point, NL - It is with great sadness that the family of the late Boyd Alexander Jones announces his passing on Saturday, April 18, 2009 at Western Memorial Regional Hospital at the age of 43 years. Left to mourn with fond and loving memories, are his wife Janet; sons: Jeff and Dylan; father: Fred Sr.; sisters: Debbie, and Cynthia Gilbert (Farron); brother: Fred Jr.; as well as a large circle of other relatives and friends. He was predeceased by his mother Ann. Visitation will be held at Country Haven Funeral Home, 167 Country Road on Monday, April 20 and on Tuesday, April 21 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. The funeral service will be held on Wednesday, April 22, 2009 at 10:30 am from Our Lady Star of the Sea, Benoit’s Cove with Father Bernard Buckle officiating. Cremation to follow. As expressions of sympathy, flowers will be graciously accepted or donations may be made to the Palliative Care Unit of Western Memorial Regional Hospital or to Daffodil Place.

French, Linda Marie

Corner Brook, NL - It is with great sadness that the family of the late Linda Marie French announce her passing at Western Memorial Regional Hospital on May 27, 2009 at the age of 57 years. She leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories her son Ken, wife Dana, special grandchildren Emma and Gabriel, brothers; Peter and Norma French of St. John’s, Ernie and Carol French of Alberta, Tom and Laura French of Corner Brook, David French of Corner Brook, Wally and Cindy French of Pasadena, Eugene and Mary French of Corner Brook, Darren and Kelly French of Pasadena, sisters; Yvonne Robertson of Stephenville, Sharon and Ken Wright of Ontario, Marion and Ron Dennis of Ontario, Rose Mary and Ed Chafe of Corner Brook, Danielle and Brad Elliott of Corner Brook, mother Grace French and Special friend Jack Cashin, as well as nieces, nephews, other relatives and a large circle of friends She is predeceased by her father Walter French. Funeral service will take place on Friday, May 29, 2009 at 2 p.m. at Country Haven Funeral Home Chapel 167 Country Road with Monsignor Edwin Gale officiating. Interment to follow at Mount Patricia Cemetery. No flowers by request, in lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Janeway Children's Hospital.

English, Madeline Anastasia Clara (Kennedy)

Corner Brook, NL - Madeline (Kennedy) English passed away peacefully on May 31, 2009. She was predeceased by her husband Jack English (1970) . Madeline was a wonderful mother who encouraged her children to take every opportunity and adventure they found in life. She will be missed by Dermot (Christine Thistle), Bill (Susan Lundrigan), Karen, Ann, Ed (Rebecca Simpson) . Madeline will also be missed by her last surviving sibling Clara Bales and grandchildren Duncan, Davis, Heather, Amy, Ned, Maggie, Hal and Tess. Madeline was daughter of Will Kennedy and Margaret (Rockett) of Curling. Born January 10th 1921. She was predeceased by her siblings Mary, Frank, Maurice, Gerald, Rita Geraldine and Joseph. Madeline was an active volunteer and athlete, in addition to many firsts in competition Madeline was a founding or early member of USO, Corner Brook Ski Club, Curling Club, Tennis Club and Marble Mountain and was with the Corner Brook Hospital Auxiliary for many years. She was a strong supporter of the arts helping many artists. Madeline was a long time member of the Corner Brook choral groups and arts groups, in later years being a painter in oils, watercolors and sketching. Whenever she could she encouraged others to develop their style and artistic talents. Her love of nature could be seen in the very large rock garden she built at her home on West Valley Road. Madeline spent much time traveling the world. She saw the beauty and excitement wherever she went from trips to Trout River and Hong Kong, to Sweden and Africa. With each trip mom learnt a bit of a new language and new artistic expressions. With every trip she had new friends in the international community and they would call and visit our home. She was born and raised in Curling and became a lifelong member of Holy Redeemer parish. Visitation will take place on Tuesday, June 2, 2009 from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. at Country Haven Funeral Home, 167 Country Road. Funeral services will take place on Wednesday June 3, 2009 at 10:30 a.m. at Country Haven Funeral Home Chapel. In lieu of flowers please make a donation to the Purchase Award Fund for LAWN (League of Artists of Western Newfoundland) for their upcoming Annual Juried Exhibition.

Delaney, Richard (Dick)

Corner Brook, NL - It is with great sadness that the family of the late Richard (Dick) Delaney announces his sudden but peaceful passing at Western Memorial Regional Hospital on May 28, 2009 at the age of 85 years. He leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories his special friend and companion Shirley MacInnis, children; Betty (Wayne Frampton), Brenda (Larry Reid), Tom (Michelle), Rick (Pamma), Dennis (Valerie), Terry (Sharon), Patricia (Steve Kenney), David (Debbie), Rob (Marci), 15 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren, brothers; Mark, WillJoe, sister-in-law Dorothy Delaney and brothers-in-law Ben Hogan and Tom Doyle as well as a large circle of family and friends. Richard (Dick) was also a life member of the 4th degree Knights of Columbus. He is predeceased by his wife Alice, brothers; Jim and Pat, sisters Min (Ben Hogan) and Hannie (Tom Doyle) . Visitation will take place on Friday, May 29, 2009 from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. at Country Haven Funeral Home 167 Country Road. Funeral Service will take place on Saturday, May 30, 2009 at 10:30 a.m. from Most Holy Redeemer Cathedral, Mount Bernard Avenue with Monsignor Edwin Gale officiating. Interment to follow at Mount Patricia Cemetery. As expressions of sympathy flowers are gracefully accepted or donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation.

Companion, Violet Cecilia

Corner Brook, NL - It is with great sadness that the family of the late Violet Cecilia Companion announce her passing at Western Memorial Regional Hospital on May 26, 2009 at the age of 77 years. She leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories her children Bill (Marion), Fred, Mike (Carol Ann), Mary (Willie), Gerald (Cheryl), Gail (Larry), John (Kathy), Brian (Christine), brothers; James (Laura), Gordon (Maxine), Lawrence Jr. (Judy), Walter (Joy), sisters; Marie, Sadie (Philip), Madeline, and Gloria, sisters-in-law; Jean (Melvin) Tipple, Mary (Frank) Batt, Gerald (Susan) Companion, 24 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren as well as a large circle of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She is predeceased by her Husband Lawrence (March 2007), her parents William and Edna Wells, and brother Gerald Barnes. Visitation will take place on Wednesday, May 27, 2009 from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m., and Thursday, May 28, 2009 from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. Funeral Service will take place on Friday, May 29, 2009 at 10:30 a.m. from Most Holy Redeemer Cathedral, Mount Bernard Ave. with Father Ambrose Hynes officiating. Interment to follow at Mount Patricia Cemetery. As expressions of sympathy flowers are gracefully accepted or donations may be made to the Cancer Society or The Heart and Stroke Foundation.

He leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories his loving companion Lynda Loder, his children; Debbie (George) Brake of Benoit’s Cove, Nancy (Peter) Hackett of Mount Pearl, Robert Brake of Corner Brook, Linda (John) Brake of Fort Nelson B.C., 9 grandchildren, his step son Christopher (Gillian) Loder of St. John’s, the mother of his children Geraldine Brake of Mount Pearl, sisters; Leona (Neil) Murrin of Corner Brook, Margaret (Bruce) Howell of Corner Brook, Yvonne Purcell of St. John’s, Betty (Cyril) Gabriel of Ontario, brothers; George Brake of Corner Brook, Pat Brake of Ontario, sister in law; Stella Brake of Corner Brook, Lynda’s mother Pearl Sharpe of Corner Brook, Lynda’s sisters; Margaret (Mike) Boland of Alberta, Susan (Ron) Marshall of Corner Brook as well as a large circle of nieces, nephews and friends. He is predeceased by his parents Elizabeth and Maurice Brake, his brother Wayne Brake, brother in law Alexander Purcell, and his step daughter Pamela Loder. Cremation has taken place. The family will be receiving friends on Thursday, April 23, 2009 from 7-9 p.m. at Country Haven Funeral Home 167 Country Road. The funeral will take place on Friday, April 24, 2009 at 2 p.m. at Country Haven Funeral Home Chapel 167 Country Road with Rev. Gordon Druggett officiating. Woolridge, Raymond Alex

Corner Brook, NL - It is with great sadness that the family of the late Raymond Alex Woolridge announces his passing at Western Memorial Regional Hospital at the age of 79 years. He leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories his wife Ramona Woolridge of 57 years, his sons; Donald (Judy) Woolridge, Brian (Penny) Woolridge, sisters; Sadie Normore of Scarborough, Vi Lucas of Scarborough, and Marilyn (Bob) MacGillvrey of Halifax, brothers; Calvin, Vernon (Bertha), and Keith (Beverly) of Ontario, brothers-in-law Phonse Penny (Mima) of Corner Brook, and Richard Rideout of Deer Lake, grandchildren; Andy, Matthew, Megan, Benjamin and many nieces and nephews, relatives and friends. He was pre-deceased by his son, David, June 2, 1987, his parents Alex and Bessie Woolridge, brothers; Donald, Albert, Maxwell and Wallace, sisters; Myrtle Yates, Shirley Rideout. The family will be receiving friends at Country Haven Funeral Home 167 Country Road, Corner Brook on Saturday March 14, 2009 from 2-4 &7-9, and Sunday march 15, 2009 from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. The funeral will take place on Monday March 16, 2009 at 2 p.m. from First United Church Park Street with Rev. Dr. Cole officiating. Interment to follow at Mount Patricia Cemetery. In lieu of lowers donations can be made to the Shriners Fund.

Stagg, Gordon George

Corner Brook, NL - It is with great sadness that the family of the late Gordon George Stagg announces his passing at Western Memorial Regional Hospital on March 15, 2009 after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories his wife of 58 years Olive, his daughters; Edith (Henry) Pinhorn, Debbie (Les) Pike, Sandra (Nick) Hawco, Cheryl (Don) Snow all of Corner Brook; his sons Phillip (Sue) of Exeter England and David (Paula) of Corner Brook, his daughter-in-law Geraldine Stagg (Brian Nolan) of Reidville. His grandchildren Carla Reid, Paula Gardner, Jeffrey Stagg, Jason Stagg, Marcus Pike, Joshua Pike, Cassandra Hawco, Nicholas Hawco, Megan Stagg, Katherine Stagg, Crystal Snow, Matthew Stagg and Julia Stagg. Also his 6 great grandchildren, his sister Ena (Allan) King of Ontario, Joan (Jim) Wells of Deer Lake, Audrey Rideout and Sylvia (Fred) Burton of Corner Brook. He was pre-deceased by his parents Selena and Alexander Stagg, his daughter Judy, his son Gerald and his granddaughter Amy Pinhorn. Also leaving to mourn a large circle of relatives and friends. The family will be receiving friends at Country Haven Funeral Home 167 Country Road on Tuesday March 17, 2009 from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. Wednesday March 18, 2009 from 10-12 noon. Funeral Service will take place on Wednesday March 18, 2009 at 2 p.m. from Salvation Army Temple O’Connell Drive with Major Calvin and Loretta Fudge officiating. Interment to follow at Mount Patricia Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Western Memorial Regional Hospital Foundation or the Salvation Army Red Shield Appeal or a charity of ones choice.
