Corner Brook, NL - It is with great sadness that the family of the late Leonard Rioux announces his passing on Wednesday, February 11, 2009 at the age of 77 years. He leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories, his wife Sarah Rioux, two sons; Peter in Ottawa, Ontario, Paul in Korea. Six brothers; Johnny (Evelyn) of Lourdes, Lewelyn (Diane) of Lourdes, Mervin (Diane) of London Ontario, Cecil (Bertha) of Stephenville Crossing, Joseph (Delores) of Brampton Ontario, Yves (Laura) of Lourdes, three sisters; Aurelia (Frank) Maggiacomo of Mississauga Ontario, Elizabeth (Thomas) Alexander of Lourdes, Marie (Ivan) Jesso of Ontario. He is predeceased by his parents Florence and Peter Rioux. Visitation will be held at Country Haven Funeral Home, 167 Country Road on Saturday February 14, 2009 at 7-9 p.m., Sunday February 15, 2009 from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. The funeral service will take place at West Side Tabernacle Monday, February 16, 2009 at 2 p.m. with Pastor Andrews and Pastor Sacrey officiating. Interment will take place at Mount Patricia Cemetery. As expressions of sympathy flowers gratefully accepted or donations may be made to the Cancer Society.

Corner Brook, NL - The family of the late Norah D. Krsmanovich announces that she passed from this world on March 11, 2009 and has gone home to be with her beloved husband Nicholas, who pre-deceased her in March of 2000. Norah was pre-deceased by her parents, the late Philip and Alice Reddy, brothers Arthur, Daniel and sisters Mary (Pat) Turner, Margaret (Charlie) King and Sarah Reddy. She is survived by her brothers Ned and Neil (Marie) and several nephews and nieces. She also leaves to mourn her dear friend Marguerite McLean and a large circle of friends in Cambridge, ON where she and Nick lived for forty years. Mass of Christian burial will be held on Monday, March 16, 2009 at 10:30 a.m. at the Roman Catholic Cathedral, Mount Bernard Ave. Corner Brook with Monsignor Gale officiating. Cremation has taken place and her ashes will be returned to Cambridge, ON for interment beside her beloved husband Nicholas. As expressions of sympathy, donations may be made to the Canadian Feed the Children Fund.

Conche, NL - It is with great sadness that the family of the late Stan Daniel Fitzgerald announces his passing on March 14, 2009 at Vancouver Island B.C. in his 54th year. He leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories his daughter; Tamara, son; Trevor (Danielle), father; Gerald Fitzgerald, sisters; Mary (Henry), Linda, Judy (Paul), Betty (Nick), and Helena, special friends Jerome Byrne, Shawn and Annette Payne, a large circle of nieces and nephews and numerous friends and relatives from coast to coast. Corner Brook, NL - It is with great sadness that the family of the late Phyllis Duffney announces her passing at the Western Memorial Regional Hospital on February 11, 2009 in her 80th year. She will be sadly missed by her four sons Jack (Betty), Terry (Olive), of Benoits Cove, Howard of Winnipeg Manitoba, Gerard Jr. of Corner Brook. Her five daughters Dorothy (Herbert) Lundrigan of St. John’s, Pauline (Sam) Lavalle of Port au Choix, Barbara (Derek) Morrison of Mount Moriah, Joanne (Edward) Walsh of Corner Brook and Karen (Arthur) Furey of Avondale. Also her 17 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren and 7 step grandchildren, one sister Doreen Sheppard of Corner Brook and one brother Patrick (Nora) Curtis of Benoits Cove. She was pre deceased by her mother and father Clara and Peter Curtis, 2 daughters, 2 sons and her brother in law Chris Sheppard. The family will be receiving friends at Country Haven Funeral Home 167 Country Road on Thursday February 12, 2009 from 7-9 p.m., Friday from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. The funeral service will take place on Saturday February 14, 2009 at 10:30 a.m. from Our Lady Star of The Sea in Benoit's Cove with interment at the church cemetery with Father Ambrose Hynes officiating. She was predeceased by her husband Thomas Burke (1980), parents: William and Elizabeth Wheeler, brothers: Wilfred, Clifton, Clayton, Leo, Austin, Harold, Bernard, sisters: Edna Companion, and Gerdna Donahue. Passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on February 11th, 2020, Craig Sooley, age 59 years. Predeceased by his mother Sheila; brother Paul; parents-in-law: Caleb and Sophie Osmond. Leaving to cherish his memory and to continue his legacy, loving wife Beverley; children: Jason (Gloria), Matthew (Nicole) and Samantha (Dennis); two precious grandchildren: Caleb and Jackson; father Allan Sooley, as well as a large circle of extended family and friends. Visitation will take place from Barrett’s Funeral Home, 328 Hamilton Avenue, on Thursday, February 13th from 5pm-9pm and Friday, February 14th from 2pm-4pm and 6pm-9pm. Funeral service will be held at Wesley United Church on Saturday, February 15th, 2020 at 11:00am, with interment to follow at Mount Pleasant Cemetery.
