ORGAN, William Patrick – Passed away suddenly at his residence in St. John’s on October 14, 2007 after a short illness, William Organ, age 76 years. Leaving to mourn his wife Kay; son Jim (Dianne), JoAnn (Al Williams) and Janet (Kevin Battcock); two grandchildren: Michael and Allison Organ; sisters: Margaret Kirsebom (Peter), Louise O’Grady (Frank, deceased), Mary Maddigan (Courtney) and Elizabeth Moore (Leo, deceased) and many other relatives and friends. Cremation has taken place. The family will receive relatives and friends at Carnell’s Funeral Home, 329 Freshwater Road on Tuesday, October 16, 2007 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. A memorial service to celebrate his life will be held at the Carnell Memorial Chapel on Wednesday, October 17, 2007 at 10:00 a.m. with a grave side committal service to follow at Mt. Carmel Cemetery.
VELEY, Leonard William (1928 - 2006) – Retired manager of Blackwood Hodge Atlantic. Passed away at St. Clare’s Mercy Hospital on Friday, March 24, 2006, Leonard William Veley of St. John’s, aged 77 years. Predeceased by parents Robert and Mildred Veley. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories his devoted wife of 47 years, Rita (nee Golden) . Daughters Sharon and Deanne, son Gordon (Edith), two grandchildren, Darryl and Leanne Veley, and three great-grandchildren, Aliyah, Hunter and Lilly. Also lovingly remembered by sisters Ethel (John) Shymko, Mable Benn, Lois (Levi) Duscharme, Bertha (Les) Mills, Isabelle Dusharme and Edna Kish, all of Ontario. Brothers Robert and David Veley, brother-in-law Bill (Shirley) Golden, sisters-in-law Minni Follett, Eleanor Wells and Eva Eddy. A number of nephews, nieces, other relatives and a large circle of friends. Resting at St. Andrew’s United Church, Whiteway from Saturday at 6 p.m. until time of funeral. The funeral service will be held from St. Andrew’s United Church, Whiteway on Monday, March 27 at 11 a.m. Interment to follow at St. Andrew’s cemetery. BOWERING, Howard M. (V01 HMB) – Passed peacefully away at the Health Sciences Centre on Tuesday, September 18, 2007 after a lengthy illness, of Foxtrap, age 71 years. He was a retired employee of the Canadian Coast Guard. Predeceased by his wife Phyllis (April 18, 2005) . BUDDEN, Margaret Lillian (nee Bishop) – Passed peacefully away in the presence of her family at the L.A. Miller Centre, Palliative Care Unit, on September 18, 2007, Margaret Lillian Budden (nee Bishop), aged 68 years. Predeceased by her parents, Robert and Miriam Bishop, and her brother Fred. Leaving to mourn her husband of 48 years, George; daughters: Janice (Mike Fleet) of Brockville, Ontario, Jennifer (Bill Hunt) of St. John’s and Joanne (Bob Carter) of Halifax, Nova Scotia; son Geoff and daughter-in-law Suanne Reid of St. John’s; cherished grandchildren: Sarah Fleet, Joshua and Graham Hunt, Elizabeth and Daniel Carter, and Laura and Erica Budden; special friends, Mary and Merv Andrews; as well as a large circle of family and friends. DAVIS, Isaac B.C. – Died suddenly at his residence on September 18, 2007, Isaac Davis, age 90 years. Owner and operator of the first Canadian Tire Store in Newfoundland and Labrador, charter member of the Kiwanis Club of Grenfell and life time member of the St. James United Church Choir.
