Gardner, Lloyd

Corner Brook, NL - It is with great sadness that the family of the late Lloyd Gardner announces his passing at Western Memorial Regional Hospital on Saturday, August 23, 2008 at the age of 83 years. He leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories, his wife of 64 years, Elizabeth; sons: Chesley Gardner, Lloyd Gardner, Alonzo Gardner (Margie) and Roy Gardner (Alice); daughters: Ruby (Roy) and Princealean (Ken); sister-in-law, Gladys Gardner; and a large circle of other relatives and friends. He was predeceased by his parents, Harry and Annie Gardner; brothers, John and Arestis; and sisters: Victoria Clarke and Rachel Tavenor. The family will be receiving friends at Country Haven Funeral Home, 167 Country Road on Sunday, August 24, 2008 from 2-4 and 7-9 P.M. The funeral service will be held on Monday, August 25, 2008 at 2:00 P.M. from St. Michael and All Angels Anglican Parish, Park Drive. Interment at Mount Patricia Cemetery. As expressions of sympathy, in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or the Canadian Cancer Society.

Allen, Dianne Elizabeth

Corner Brook, NL - It is with great sadness that the family of the late Dianne Elizabeth Allen announces her passing at the Palliative Care Unit, Western Memorial Regional Hospital on Friday, August 15, 2008 at the age of 58 years. She leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories, her husband of 35 years, Douglas; 2 daughters: Tanya Leyte (Collin) and Sabrina Allen (Pete); 3 grandchildren: Jenna, Joshua and Nicholas; sisters: Judy Byrne of Ontario, Shirley Allen (Chris) of Corner Brook, Catherine Kennedy (Stan) of Corner Brook, Myra O’Brien (Paul) of Ontario and Lisa Collier (Wade) of Ontario; brothers: Gordon Kennedy (Lisa) of Corner Brook, David Kennedy (Jocelyn) of Corner Brook, Rod Kennedy (Jenny) of Ontario, Wayne Kennedy of Ontario and Brian Kennedy (Anita) of Ontario; mother and father-in-law, Marion and Jack Allen of Corner Brook; sisters-in-law: Marlene Kennedy (Bert) of Ontario, Elizabeth Anstey (Frank) of Corner Brook, Glenys Park (Fred) of Corner Brook, Linda Park (Arch) of Corner Brook, and Gloria Lavers (Joe) of Ontario; brothers-in-law: Wally Allen (Bev) of Ontario, Bill Allen (Sylvia) of Corner Brook, Byron Allen (Louise) of Corner Brook, Baxter Allen (Gaye) of Ontario, and Derek Allen (Delores) of Corner Brook; her best friend, Catherine (Googie) Coombs and husband Randy; and a large number of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was predeceased by her parents, John Kennedy (1999) and Evelyn Kennedy (2007) and brother-in-law, Donald Byrne (2002) . Visitation will be held at Country Haven Funeral Home, 167 Country Road on Sunday, August 17, 2008 from 7-9 P.M. and Monday, August 18, 2008 from 2-4 and 7-9 P.M. The funeral service will take place on Tuesday, August 19, 2008 at 10:00 A.M. from St. John the Evangelist Anglican Parish with Rev. Michael Rice officiating. Interment at Mount Patricia Cemetery. As expressions of sympathy, flowers gratefully accepted or donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or a charity of one’s choice.

Luther, Alvina Pearl

Corner Brook, NL - It is with great sadness that the family of the late Alvina Pearl Luther announces her passing at Western Memorial Regional Hospital on Saturday, June 14, 2008 two days before her 87th birthday. She leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories, her very devoted husband of 64 years, William; son, David (Marie Louise) of Corner Brook; daughters: Lorraine Milley (Bill) of Halifax and Donna of Corner Brook; grandchildren: Bradley, Rayna, Jonathan, Morgan, Heather, Vicky and Scott; great-grandchildren: Ethan, Gavin, Logan and Ava; sisters and brothers: Clarisa Andrews (Roy) of Niagara Falls, Lillian Luther (Jack) of Corner Brook, Dorothy Hutchings (Bob) of Columbus, Ohio, Wilfred Hutchings of Corner Brook and Violet Goodyear (Doug) of Mount Pearl; and a large number of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was predeceased by her parents, Arthur and Evelyn Hutchings; brother, Rendell Hutchings; and 1 infant sister. Visitation will be held at Country Haven Funeral Home, 167 Country Road on Monday, June 16, 2008 from 7-9 p.m. from where the funeral service will take place on Tuesday, June 17, 2008 at 2 p.m. with Rev. Dr. Wayne Cole officiating. Interment at Mount Patricia Cemetery. As expressions of sympathy, flowers gratefully accepted or donations may be made to the 5th and 6th Floors, Western Memorial Regional Hospital.

Earle, John Eldon (Pop)
March 24, 1916 – December 18, 2007

Gillams, NL - Passed peacefully away at the Corner Brook Interfaith Home, with his loving family by his side, on December 18, 2007, John Eldon Earle in his 92nd year. He leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories, his devoted wife of 69 years, Hazel (Cutler); adopted son, Derick (Betty) Brake; adopted daughter, Nina (Ted) Swyer; grandchildren: Debbie (Melvin) Sears, Barry (Cynthia) Brake, Donna (Rick) Baldwin, Wade (Lisa) Swyer, Kathy (David) Strickland, Dawn (Ronald) Hazelwood, and Janet (Eugene) Hazelwood; great grandchildren: Chantelle, Sherwin (Lynette), Elizabeth Jane, Tyler (Jessica), Candace, Stacey, Parker, Stefany, Benjamin, Jack, Mitchell, Jake, Benjamin, Jonathan, Cheryl, Clinton, Spencer and Justin; sister, Rita Perry, sister-in-law, Jessie Farnell; and a large number of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was predeceased by his adopted daughter, Ula; sisters: Beatrice, Doris and Lilymae; and brother, William. Visitation will be held at Country Haven Funeral Home, 167 Country Road on Thursday, December 20, 2007 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. from where the funeral service will take place on Friday, December 21, 2007 at 11:00 a.m. with Leslie Bedoe and John Hiltz officiating. Interment at the Non-denominational Cemetery, Batstone’s Road. As expressions of sympathy, flowers gratefully accepted or donations may be made to the 5th Floor Enhancement Fund at Western Memorial Regional Hospital or St. Luke’s Unit at the Interfaith Home.

David Andrew Clarke

Passed peacefully into God’s hands, at the Hoyles-Escasoni Complex on Wednesday, January 22, 2003, David Clarke, nine days shy of his 85th birthday, formerly of Heart’s Desire, St. John’s and most recently of Kelligrews, long- time employee of Stokes Construction.
Predeceased by his first wife, Mary Howard (1980), second wife Rita Meaney (Randell) (1993), brothers Bernard and Lawrence, and sister Veronica. Leaving to mourn his daughter Lorraine Clarke (Paul Matthews), granddaughter Andrea Bugden, step-children Marie Hibbs (Hector), Rita Coles (Wade), Ann Oldford, Mary Dawe (Reginald), Margaret Peddle, and Suzanne Dawe (Tony), sister Stella Yetman of Massachusetts, dear friend Stella Walsh of Kelligrews, and a wide circle of other relatives and friends. Special thanks to the staff at the transition unit, Hoyles-Escasoni for their loving care.
At Dave’s request cremation has taken place. Visitation on Thursday, January 23, from 7-9 p.m. at Barrett’s Funeral Home, 328 Hamilton Ave. A memorial service will be held at Barrett’s Chapel on Friday, January 24th, 2003 at 4:30 p.m. Funeral Mass and inurnment to take place in Heart’s Desire at a later date. Flowers gratefully accepted or donations in his memory may be made to the charity of one’s choice.

Keeping, Mary Margaret

Corner Brook, NL - It is with great sadness that the family of the late Mary Margaret Keeping announces her passing at Western Memorial Regional Hospital on Tuesday, February 12, 2008 at the age of 87 years. She leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories, her husband of 69 years: Arthur Chesley Keeping; children: Elmo (Sandra) of Corner Brook, Boyd (Norma) of Corner Brook, Shirley (Stewart Sparkes) of Toronto, Lorne (Linda) of Corner Brook, Audrey (Roger MacDonald) of Corner Brook, Yvonne (Bill Marks) of Corner Brook, Eileen (Ken Best) of Corner Brook, Ruby (Gerald) Callahan of British Columbia, Barry of Corner Brook, Rick (Tanya) of Irishtown; twenty-five grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; and a large circle of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was predeceased by her brothers: Harry and Morris; sisters: Minnie and Rowena; grand-daughter: Angela Best; and parents: Benjamin and Blanche Collins. Visitation will be held at Country Haven Funeral Home, 167 Country Road on Wednesday, February 13, 2008 and Thursday, February 14, 2008 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. The funeral service will take place on Friday, February 15, 2008 at 2 pm from The Salvation Army Citadel, Clarence Street with Major and Mrs. Kean officiating. Interment to follow at Mount Patricia Cemetery. Flowers gratefully accepted or donations may be made to The Salvation Army Memorial Fund or to the Palliative Care Unit at Western Memorial Hospital.

Denis John (Dick) Taylor
(July 20, 1978 - March 21, 2018)

It is with heavy hearts and great sorrow that the family of the late Denis John Taylor announce his peaceful passing at his residence on Wednesday, March 21, 2018 at the age of 39 years. Denis leaves to mourn his loving mother Eunice; sister April, brother in law Jason, his nephews, who were his world, Riley and Ryder; his companion Tammy Hardy; his devoted caregivers that took such good care of Denis since his accident in 2002; his buddies who attended to his many needs and adventures and a large circle of other relatives and many friends. Denis was predeceased by his father Denis “Rally” Taylor; grandparents Lem & Gladys Sheppard, Ena & Dick Taylor. At Denis’s request, cremation has taken place. Visitation for family and friends will take place on Sunday, March 25, 2018 from Country Haven Funeral Home, 167 Country Road, during the hours of 2 to 4 pm and 7 to 9 pm. A celebration of life for Denis will take place at the Country Haven Chapel on Monday, March 26, 2018 at 2pm with Rev. Malcolm Palmer officiating. Interment to take place at a later date. As expressions of sympathy flowers will be graciously accepted or memorial donations can be made to a charity of one’s choice.
