Wilfred George Reid
(June 27, 1945 - March 05, 2018)
It is with great sadness that the family of the late Wilfred George Reid announce his peaceful passing at his residence surrounded by his loving family on March 5, 2018 in his 72nd year. He leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories, his dear wife Anita Reid of 51 years; sons: Wilfred Jr, Robert (Sherry), Gregory (Rochelle); grandchildren: Michael, Stephen, Lindsey, Rebecca, Emma, Ryan; brothers: Louis (Madonna), Larry (Brenda), Gary, Mary St. Croix (Fintan), Mary Crocker (Jim), Barbara (Billy); furry friend Patches; and also a large circle of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. Wilfred was predeceased by his father Edgar & mother Molly; and brother Jerry. At Wilfred’s request, cremation has taken place. Friends and family may visit Country Haven Funeral Home, 167 Country Road on Thursday, March 8, 2018 from 7-9pm from where the funeral service will take place at the Country Haven Chapel on Friday, March 9, 2018 at 10:30 am with Father White officiating. Interment to follow at Mount Patricia Cemetery. As expressions of sympathy, in lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the Canadian Red Cross Foundation and/or the Canadian Cancer Society.
Isaac Walter Brinston
(August 29, 1951 - February 19, 2018)
It is with extremely heavy hearts that the family of the late Isaac Walter Brinston announce his sudden passing on Monday, February 19, 2018 in St. John’s at the age of 66. He leaves to mourn his loving and devoted family, his wife and best friend Jubilee; his two daughters: Heather (Dave) and Paulette (Obeng); two grandchildren, who were his entire world: Julianna and Joshua; mother in law Cassie; sisters in law: Daphne (Jeff), Lucretia (Walter); brother in law Dana (Berdena); brother Gary (Lorie); and sister Jeanette (Willie); special nieces and nephews: Gordie, Sheri, Shelley, Stephen, Rebecca, Kirk, and Tina; special friends Derek and Sylvia Parsons; also many other nieces, nephews, and a large cirlce of friends. He was predeceased by his parents: George and Alvina Brinston, and Jack and Hazel Earle; father in Law Cyril March; brothers: Junior, Derek, and Gordon; and sisters in law: Margaret and Gail. The family will welcome visitation at the St. James Anglican Church in Gillams on Saturday, February 24, 2018 from where a celebration of Isaac’s life will take place on Sunday, February 25, 2018 at 2pm with Rev. Malcom Palmer officiating. Cremation to follow after the funeral service, interment to take place at a later date. As expressions of sympathy, flowers are graciously accepted and/or memorial donations may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
Derek J. Suley
(February 17, 1942 - February 22, 2018)
It is with great sadness that the family of the late Derek Suley announce his passing at the Western Memorial Regional Hospital on Thursday, February 22, 2018 in his 76th year. He leaves to mourn with fond & loving memories, his wife of 48 years Doreen; children: Jason (Pattie), his precious daughter Natasha (who predeceased him in 1999), and Terri-Lynn (John) Glynn; grandchildren: Nikara Dawn & Trinity May; and a large extended family of brothers, sisters, nieces, nephews, other relatives & many friends. Visitation for family and friends will take place at Country Haven Funeral Home, 167 Country Road, on Saturday, February 24, 2018 from the hours of 2-4 & 7-9pm. The funeral service will take place on Sunday, February 25, 2018 from the All Saints Anglican Church at 2pm with Arch Bishop Percy Coffin officiating. At Derek’s request, cremation to follow the service and interment to take place at a later date. Anna Gertrude Quilty (nee Hynes)
(July 14, 1930 - February 21, 2018)
It is with great sorrow that the family of the late Anna Gertrude Quilty announce her peaceful passing on Wednesday, February 21, 2018 at Corner Brook Long Term Care in her 87th year. Leaving with fond memories & lasting love, her 3 children: Barbara (Philip) Turner of Corner Brook, Wayne (Deborah) of Kippens, NL, Jim of Beirut, Lebanon; 4 grandsons: Bryan, Kevin, Stephen, and Michael; sister Veronica McPherson of Antigonish, NS; and a large circle of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Anna was predeceased by her husband of 60 years, Thomas (April 2015) and their infant son Bruce (1961); her parents: Joseph & Gertrude Hynes; brothers: Jack & Patrick; sisters: Mary, Elizabeth, and Dorothy. Visitation for family and friends will take place at Country Haven Funeral Home, 167 Country Road on Sunday, February 25, 2018 from the hours of 2 to 4 & 7 to 9pm. A Funeral Mass will take place at the Most Holy Redeemer Catholic Cathedral on Monday, February 26, 2018 at 10am with Father Edward Terry officiating. Interment to follow at Mount Patricia. As expressions of sympathy, flowers are graciously accepted and/or memorial donations can be made to the NL Alzheimer’s Society or the Most Holy Redeemer Church Fund.
John Thomas Coombs Jr.
(April 24, 1956 - January 24, 2018)
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of John T Coombs Jr. on Wednesday, January 24, 2018 at the Palliative Care Unit of the Western Memorial Regional Hospital at the age of 61 years. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories his stepmom Linda Coombs, along with many friends and family, also some exceptional friends that took the time to get to know John and be there for him. He was predeceased by his father, John Thomas Coombs Sr. In keeping with John’s wishes, cremation has taken place. There will be no formal visitation or funeral. Interment to take place at Mount Patricia Cemetery. As expressions of sympathy, flowers are graciously accepted, or memorial donations may be made to a charity of one’s choice. Thank you very much to the staff on 3B for the kindness they have shown John, they went above and beyond. To the Palliative Care nurses and staff, special thank you to Karen Eastman for the kindness shown. Kind, thoughtful, gentle, curious, thirst for knowledge. Always a positive attitude. Strong willed, fighter, determined, beautiful soul. Johnny was a person who touched the lives of all those he met. All that knew him walked away with a different view in life. All the “issues” you thought you had melted away simply by having a conversation with him. A true inspiration to many. Rest easy. You were truly loved. Until we meet again.
Blanche Muriel Beatrice Oram

It is with great sadness that the family of the late Blanche Muriel Beatrice Oram announce her passing at the Western Memorial Regional Hospital on Sunday, December 31, 2017 at the age of 81 years. Visitation will take place at Country Haven Funeral Home, 167 Country Road on Wednesday, January 3, 2018 from the hours of 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. The funeral service will take place on Thursday, January 4, 2018 at the Salvation Army Temple O'Connell Drive, at 2 P.M. with Majors Cory and Pamela Pinksen officiating.
