BUTLER, Donna (nee Yarn) – Passed peacefully away at St. Clare’s Mercy Hospital on Friday, Sept. 28, 2007. Donna Butler aged 55 years. Predeceased by her parents Alice and Gordon Yarn; sister: Sandra Richards. Leaving to mourn her husband Walter; children: Allen Yarn (Ashley Vanderklugt), Douglas Butler (Melissa Bennett), Andrew Butler (Samantha James); grandchildren: Madison Yarn and Brady Bennett; brother: Junior Yarn; sister Barbara Taylor (Craig); brother-in-law: John Richards; and many other relatives and friends. Resting at Barrett’s Funeral Home, 328 Hamilton Ave. on Sunday, Sept. 30 from 2-9 p.m. and Monday, Oct. 1 from 10 a.m.-9 p.m. Funeral service to take place on Tuesday, Oct. 2 at 11 a.m. from Barrett’s Chapel. Interment to follow at the Anglican Cemetery, Kenmount Road. Flowers gratefully accepted or donation can be made in Donna’s memory to the Heart and Stroke Foundation.

BUTTON, Jacob – Passed peacefully away in the presence of his family on Friday, September 28, 2007 Jacob Matthews Button aged 74 years. Lovingly remembered by his wife of 49 years, Shirley, daughters Gail (David) and Vicki; grandchildren Michael, Stefanie (Desmond) and Emily; two great-grandchildren Jacob and Jessie. Also leaving with fond and loving memories Mother Mary, Brother Jesse (Myrtle) Sisters Trixie (Percy), Lillian (Nathaniel) brother-in-law Harry Carter and sister-in-law Edna Burry, nieces, nephews and a large circle of relatives and friends. Flowers gratefully declined. Donations in his memory may be made to the Children’s Wish Foundation. Resting at Strathie’s Funeral Home, Catalina. Funeral service Monday, 2 p.m. at St. Peter’s Anglican Church, Catalina. Interment at the Anglican Cemetery, Catalina.

DILLON, M. Shirley (nee Dooling) – Passed peacefully away at the Health Science Centre after a lengthy illness on September 30th, 2007, M. Shirley Dooling, aged 63 years. Predeceased by her parents John and Evelyn Dooling and sister Vera. Leaving to mourn sons Vincent (Glenda) of Mount Pearl, William of Brampton, ON, Thomas (Monique) of Petawawa, ON, and Richard (Kim) of Chatham, ON. Grandchildren Ashley and Tony of Ottawa, ON, Taylor, Katelyn, Brianne, Lauren of Chatham, ON, and Rebecca of Mount Pearl. Brothers John (Mary), Bill (Goldie), Peter (Esther), Larry (Gloria) of NS, Dan (Wanda), Don (Diane) of NS, Mike (Linda), Gerry of AB. Sisters Anita (George), Frances, Brenda, ON, Vicki (Dave), Irene, Joanne, Sylvia, St. John’s. Her best friend Stella Kane of Musgravetown. Also other relatives and friends. Resting at Caul’s Funeral Home, LeMarchant Road. Visitation on Tuesday, October 2, 2007 from 10 a.m. – 9 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial to take place on Wednesday, October 3, 2007 at 10:00 a.m. from St. Peter’s Church, Ashford Drive. Inurnment to follow at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery. Flowers gratefully accepted or donations in her memory may be made to the Brain Injury Association.

DOHEY, Irene (nee McGrath) - April 23, 1940 - September 29, 2007 – Passed away after a long and courageous battle with cancer, in her 76th year. Predeceased by her husband, Jack, August 15, 2003, she leaves to mourn daughter Nora O’Rourke (Rube), granddaughters Kathleen, Megan and Tara and very special great grandson Davis. Resting at Mary Queen of the World Church, Point Lance with funeral mass at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, October 2, 2007. Interment to follow at St. Bride’s RC Cemetery. Funeral arrangements entrusted to Manning’s Funeral Service, St. Bride’s.

DUNN, Jean Madonna – Passed peacefully away at the Palliative Care Unit, L.A. Miller Centre in the presence of her loving family, on Sunday, September 30, 2007, aged 76 years. Predeceased by her husband, Donald; parents Gregory and Jane Picco and sister Molly Reardon. Leaving to mourn, with fond and loving memories, sons: Brian (Mary), Donald (Denise); three grandchildren: Andrew, Jeremy and Daniel; brother Bill (Clara) Picco; sisters Isabelle Follett, Bernadette (Paul) Erickson and Margaret Coady; brothers-in-law Patrick (Mary) Dunn and Jack Dunn; sisters-in-law Shirley Oliver, Alice (Gerald) Yetman and Bernice (Kevin) Oliver; Linda Bulger; many special nieces and nephews as well as special friends Merle and Ruth Mercer, Vera Brodericks, Rita and Jack Walsh and her many friends from the church community at St. Teresa’s Parish. Resting at Caul’s Funeral Home, LeMarchant Road. Visitation Monday, October 1, 12:00 p.m. - 9 p.m. and Tuesday, October 2 from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Funeral mass on Wednesday, October 3, 9:30 a.m. from St. Teresa’s Church, interment at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery. HARVEY, Leo Joseph – Passed away suddenly at his home in Ferryland on Saturday, September 29, 2007, Leo Harvey aged 55 years. Predeceased by his father Jack in November, 2005. Leaving to mourn, with many happy memories, his wife Louise, sons Bobby (Susie), Blair (Kim), Ryan and Byron, two precious grand-daughters Emma-Lee and Kayley and a special grand-son on the way, mother Anita, sisters Jackie, Brenda, Karen, Rosie, Lillian, Assumpta and brother Kevin, in-laws the Hodder family, many nieces, nephews, relatives and close friends, especially Eugene Reddy and Gerard Fennelly. Resting at Fahey’s Funeral Home, Fermuse, Monday 2 - 9 p.m., Tuesday 2 - 9 p.m. and Wednesday 9 - 10:30 a.m. Funeral service to take place Wednesday, October 3, 2007 at 11 a.m. from Holy Trinity Church, Ferryland, with interment to follow at Holy Trinity Cemetery. HUNT, Sharon L. (nee Cooney) – Passed peacefully away at St. Clare’s Mercy Hospital on Sunday, September 30, 2007 Sharon Hunt, aged 55 years. Predeceased by her father, John Joseph Cooney (February 1999), mother Margaret Cooney (April 2007) and special friend Kevin Kelly (August 2004) . Leaving to mourn her two sons: B.J./Bradley (Cam Patey) and Trevor (Nicole Reid); her fiance John Connolly and his children (Jonathan and Matthew); five sisters: Donna (Don) Connolly, Mary (Jim) Nelson, Janet (Reg) Ward, Venita (Jim) Murphy and Robin (Cec) Fewer; three brothers: David /Keith (Shirley), John (Shelley Edison) and Craig; two special aunts: Pauline Jackman (St. John’s) and Julia White (Maryland) : three uncles Ben Jackman, St. John’s; William White, Maryland, and Charles Ludwig (Michigan); special friends Dave and Gwen Williams, Phyllis Kelly and Kay Power and many special friends from Mahers, Aliant and NUS (Network Utility Services), as well as a large number of nieces, nephews and friends. Special thanks to Doctors Zulfiqar and Norman as well as the staff of the Dr. H. Bliss Murphy Cancer Care Centre as well as Juanita and Gloria of the ICU at St. Clare’s. Resting at Caul’s Funeral Home, LeMarchant Road. Visitation on Monday from 7 p.m. - 9 p.m. and Tuesday from 2 p.m. - 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. - 9 p.m. Funeral mass will take place on Wednesday, October 3, 2007 at a time to be announced from st. Patrick’s Church. Cremation to follow. Flowers gratefully accepted or a donation may be made in her memory to the Canadian Cancer Society. No scented products please due to allergies to perfume and cologne.

McDONALD, William R. – Passed peacefully away at the Health Sciences Centre in the presence of his family on September 29, 2007, William Robert McDonald “Peg, ” aged 69 years. Predeceased by his mother Blanche McDonald (Fisher), father Angus McDonald and sisters Mildred and Ada. Leaving to mourn his loving wife of 49 years Lorraine McDonald (Perchard); sons Gary (Jackie Dankoski), Richard McDonald (Judy King); daughters Pamela McDonald and Tanya McDonald. Eight grandchildren and three great grandchildren. Brother Jim McDonald (Marie) . Also a large circle of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. A special thank you to the nurses and staff of 4 North, Health Science Centre. Resting at Caul’s Funeral Home, LeMarchant Road.
