KING, Alvin – Passed peacefully away on Wednesday, September 26, 2007 at the Health Sciences Centre, surrounded by his loving family, age 55 years, of C.B.S. Left with cherished memories his loving wife of 32 years, Marie; his children: Michael (Corina), Lisa (Mikey), Stephen (Meagan); his mother and father, Reg and Annie; sisters and brothers: Marilyn, Kevin (Arlean), Sandra, John (Bev), Rupert (Donna), Sylvia (Paul); precious grandchild, Carson A.J.; mother and father-in-law, John and Elizabeth Hodder; sisters: and brothers-in-law: Bev (Ed), David (Annette), Stella (Cam) and special uncle Edgar; also, aunts, uncles and other relatives and friends. Visitation in the James J. Hickey Funeral Home, Kelligrews on Thursday and Friday 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral service in All Saints Anglican Church, Foxtrap on Saturday, September 29, 2007 at 11 a.m. Interment in the Anglican Cemetery, Dunn’s Hill Road, Foxtrap.

PETTEN, Frances Selina (nee Fagan) – Passed peacefully away at the Health Sciences Centre on Tuesday, September 25, 2007 after a short illness, age 82 years. Predeceased by husband Wilson, 1988; daughter Winnifred, 1999; son Harvey, 2003; daughter Doris, 2006. Left with fond and loving memories sons: David (Aggie), Stephen (Linda), Mervel (Bernice), Barry (Cheryl); daughters: Barbara (Selby Button), Ruth (Bob Morgan), Ruby (Melvin Butler), Eileen (Dick Cheeseman), Marjorie (Wayne Bursey), Dorothy (Max Dawe), Marie (Bruce Dawe), Joyce (Winston Fowlow), Shirley (Perry Scott), Roxanne; daughter-in-law Effie and son-in-law Allistor King; 30 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren; brother Wilson Fagan; sister Marion Fagan; uncle, George Kelly (Bell Island); also a large circle of other relatives and friends. Visitation in the James J. Hickey Memorial Funeral Home, Kelligrews on Thursday 10-9 p.m. and Friday 10 - 1:30 p.m. Funeral Service in All Saints Anglican Church, Foxtrap on Friday, September 28, 2007 at 2:00 p.m. Interment in the Anglican Cemetery, Dunn’s Hill Road, Foxtrap.

SQUIRES, John Joseph – Passed peacefully away at the Health Sciences Centre on September 25, 2007 at the age of 76. Predeceased by sons, Randolf and Allister and brother Reginald. Leaving to mourn his wife Rita; sons: Dennis (Tiffany), Eric, Darrell (Jeanette); two sisters: Mary (Hayward) and Marion (Jim); sisters-in-law: Annie Squires, Caroline (Moses) Tucker, Virtue Sharpe and Rowena Sharpe; brother-in-law Arthur Jones; grandchildren: Lisa, Jonathan, Corey (Kimmy), Kelly (Dave), Melissa and Jadee; precious great-grandson Cody John; sister-in-law Myrtle Mercer (Hubert); close family friend Peggy Hatfield; along with a wide circle of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Resting at Carnell’s Funeral Home, 329 Freshwater Road with visitation from 7-9 p.m. on Wednesday; 10-12, 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. on Thursday and 10-12 noon on Friday. Funeral service to take place on Friday, September 28, 2007 at 2:00 p.m. from St. Philip’s Anglican Church with interment to follow at St. Philip’s Anglican Cemetery. Flowers gratefully accepted or donations may be made to the St. Philip’s Church Building Fund.

BABB, Bradlee – Passed peacefully away at home on September 25, 2007 Bradlee Babb, age 20, of Ontario, with strong ties to Newfoundland. Predeceased by his grandparents Eugene Babb, and Aiden and Madonna Power of Bell Island, NL. Ever remembered with fond and loving memories, his parents Wade Babb and Cynthia (Power) Babb, and his beloved sister, Aimee Babb, Ontario. Also, leaving to mourn many aunts, uncles, cousins, relatives and friends. Resting at Corbett Funeral Home, 95 Dundas Street, Cambridge, Ontario on Friday, September 28th from 7:30 pm to 9:00 pm; Saturday from 1:00 to 4:00 pm, and 7:00 to 9:00 pm. Funeral service to take place at Corbett Funeral Home Chapel at 1:30 pm Sunday. No flowers by request. Donations in Bradlee's memory may be made to TD Canada Trust, 72-6256371, In Trust to Bradlee Babb. Having spent only 20 years on earth, Bradlee, with his heart of gold, free spirit, faith in God and words of wisdom, touched all those who had the honor of knowing him. As you so often told us Brad, we will "keep the faith".

BERRIGAN, John (Beaver) – January 31, 1942 - September 27, 2007, passed away suddenly on Thursday, September 27, 2007 at the Health Sciences Centre, John (Beaver) Berrigan. Leaving to mourn three sisters: Lynda, Roseanne Burkleca, Mississippi, Patricia Chess, Pittsburg; Uncle Gerard Cahill (Nora); cousins: Moya, Nora, Fred; nieces: Dana Burkleca and Patsy Williford; nephew John Michael Williford; as well as a large circle of friends, especially John McGrath, Dave Carroll, Sonny Alyward, Frank Grouchy and Stan Noftall. Resting at Caul’s Funeral Home, LeMarchant Road. Visitation Friday from 7 p.m. - 9 p.m. and Saturday 2 p.m. - 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. - 9 p.m. Funeral Mass on Monday, October 1, 2007 at 9:30 a.m from Corpus Christi Church. Cremation to follow. Flowers gratefully accepted or donations in his memory may be made to the S.P.C.A.

MURPHY, Raymond Patrick – (April 14, 1924 - September 27, 2007) . Passed peacefully away at the Health Sciences Centre on Thursday, September 27, 2007, Raymond Patrick Murphy, aged 83 years. Predeceased by his first wife Rita (1964); second wife May (2003) and brother Jack (2003) . Left to mourn his four daughters: Regina (Gerry), Marg (Dave), Rita (Peter) and Suzanne (Wayne); three sons: Bill (Marg), Brian (Margie) and Dougie; sister Marguerite; brother John; also grandchildren, great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. At Raymond’s request, cremation has taken place. Resting at Barrett’s Funeral Home, 328 Hamilton Ave. on Sunday from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. Funeral service will be held from Barrett’s Chapel on Monday, October 1, 2007 at 11:00 a.m. Interment to follow at the Anglican Cemetery, Kenmount Road. As expressions of sympathy, flowers gratefully accepted or donations may be made in Raymond’s memory to the Heart and Stroke Foundation.

RING, Bridget – With great sadness we announce the passing of Bridget Ring (nee Hannaford), age 74 years on September 27, 2007 at the Health Sciences Centre. Predeceased by her parents, Samuel and Catherine Hannaford and sisters: Mary, Tessie, Kathleen and Eileen. Leaving to mourn her devoted husband and best friend Pat; four sons: Ray Power (Bonnie), Gerald Power (Katherine), Bobby Power (Terrie) and Garrett Power (Barbara); two daughters: Terry Benki and Katie Power (Larry); eight grandchildren: Jessica, Samantha, Shannon, Stacy, Christine, Stephanie, Bobbie and Shane. She also leave to mourn her sister Margaret Chandler and brother Bert Hannaford (Regina); four step-children: Jim (Mary), Tom (Linda), Pat (Dawn) and Linda (John) and seven step-grandchildren. Cremation has taken place. Mass of Christian Burial to take place on Saturday, September 29, 2007 at 9:30 a.m. from St. Patrick’s Church. Interment to follow at Belvedere Cemetery.

WALSH, James William – August 19, 1917 - September 27, 2007. Passed peacefully away in the presence of his loving family on Thursday, September 27, 2007, James William Walsh, aged 90 years. Predeceased by his wife Mary (nee Hayes), 1996 and brother Dr. Cyril Walsh. Left with fond and loving memories, his five children: Mary Easton (Eric), Margaret Deaville (Kevin), Jim (Brenda), Patrick (Leone) and John (Patricia); 14 grandchildren: Wendy, Rhonda, Brad, Heather, Peggy, Allison, Jamie, Angela, Jimmy, Chris, Jessica, Jonathan, Alex and Patrick; five great-grandchildren: Katie, Sarah, Jordan, Christopher and Ryan; sisters: Millie Mongiat (Clarke) and Sheila Devine; best friend, companion and caregiver, Daphne King; special niece, Anne Marie Reid (Bruce); as well as a large number of family and friends. Resting at Caul’s Funeral Home, LeMarchant Road. Visitation Thursday from 7:30 p.m. - 9 p.m. and Friday from 10 a.m. - 9 p.m. Funeral Mass on Saturday, September 29, 2007 at 2:00 p.m. from St. Kevins Church, Goulds. Interment to follow at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery. Flowers gratefully accepted or a donation may be made in his memory to a charity of one’s choice.

BEST, Frederick – Born July 25, 1925, St. John’s NL. Died July 25, 2007 on his 82nd birthday in Port Hope, ON. Predeceased by parents Florence and James Best, brother John Best, son Randolph and grandson Troy. Beloved husband of Gloria (March), Dear father of Edward (Virginia), Omemee, ON; Wayne (Lynne), Omemee, ON; Garfield (Lori), CBS, NL; Janis McDonald (John), Avondale NL; Richard (Lisa), Port Coquitlam, BC; Mary Jane Petrus, Kansas City, KS; Robert (Terri), Courtice, ON; Leonard (Josee), Cantley, PQ; Gail Ciurlia (Daniele), Oshawa, ON. Lovingly remembered by twenty-four grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. Sadly missed and forever loved.
