Samantha Josephine Piercey
(February 14, 1990 - May 26, 2018)

It is with great sorrow that the family of the late Samantha Piercey announce her sudden passing in Clarenville on Saturday, May 26, 2018 at the age of 28. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories, her two precious children: Dakota and James; her loving mother Lisa Piercey; her sisters: Susannah Piercey (Jordan), April Piercey (Tyler); her grandparents: Lloyd & Linda Piercey, Dawn & Lew Samson; her great grandmother Dorothy Piercey; her nephew & niece: Elliot and Anna; her father Mark Felix; her aunts: Jennifer Fraser, Sharon Mujica, Madge Sinkeldam, Bridget Nightsky, Cythia Felix; her uncles: Lloyd Piercey, Isaac Felix, Richard Jesso; and also a large circle of friends and relatives. Samantha was predeceased by her grandmother Josephine Felix (1994) . Visitation for family and friends will take place at Country Haven Funeral Home, 167 Country Road on Thursday, May 31, 2018 from the hours of 2-4 & 7-9 pm from where the funeral service will take place at the Country Haven Chapel on Friday, June 1, 2018 at 2 pm with Rev. David Taylor officiating. At Samantha’s request, cremation to follow. Interment to take place at a later date. As expressions of sympathy, flowers are graciously accepted and/or memorial donations can be made to the Canadian Mental Health Association.

Audrey Georgina Wiseman
(December 17, 1930 - May 17, 2018)

It is with great sadness that the family of the late Audrey Georgina Wiseman announce her peaceful passing at the Corner Brook Interfaith Cottages on Thursday, 17 May 2018 in her 87th year. Leaving to mourn with fond and precious memories, children: Gary (Leona), Brent (Marion), Darryl (Evelyn), Christine (Roger) Butler and Terry (Marie); twelve grandchildren: Jackie and Jason; Michael; Daniel, Andrew and Katie; Matthew, Philip, Zachary and Gregory; Michael and Brett: step- grandchildren: Brandon, Mason, and Devon; 4 great grandchildren: Emily, Jack, Will and Claire; as well as a special niece Irene, and large circle of other relatives and friends. She was predeceased by her husband John "Jack" Wiseman; her parents John and Edith Lundrigan; infant son Michael; sisters: Shirley, Mildred and Maisie and brothers: Allan, Reginald and Wallace. Friends may visit Country Haven Funeral Home, 167 Country Road on Monday, 21 May 2018 between the hours of 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. The Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Tuesday, 22 May 2018 at 2:00 p.m. from the Cathedral of the Most Holy Redeemer, Mount Bernard Avenue with Father Terry officiating. Interment will follow at the Roman Catholic Townsite Cemetery. As expression of sympathy, in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation or the Alzheimer's Society.

Kathleen Callahan
(February 09, 1958 - May 20, 2018)

Surrounded by her loving family, Kathleen Callahan (nee House) passed peacefully at WMRH Corner Brook on Sunday, May 20, 2018. She left this world as she lived, full of honor, grace and courage along with a streak of Scottish stubbornness that she passed down to her children. She leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories her husband of 42 years, Clarence. Her children, who were her world, Penny Warren, Tracy (Robert) Wilton and Clary (Toni); her beloved grandchildren which she cherished and adored, Nathan, Joshua, Abby, Brady, Cameron, Robbie and Bethany. Her special nieces and nephew; Marina, Cynthia and Shannon, mother in law Clara Callahan, brothers and sisters in law; Donna (Keith) Hann, Debbie (Bill) Short, Barbie (Bob) Whitehorn, Laura (Doug) Whitehorn, Jimmy (Vivian) Callahan, Mark Callahan, Billy (Bernita) Callahan, Pat (Lisa) Callahan, Judy (George), Gerve Callahan, Loretta (Jim) Strowbridge as well as a large circle of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was predeceased by parents, Marion and Gordon House, brother Austin, and sisters Margaret and Marion, and father in law Clarence Callahan. The family would like to express a sincere thank you to Dr. Brazil, Dr. O’Connor, Dr. Dutoite, special nurses Wendy and Tanis and the staff of 3B of WMRH. Visitation will take place at Country Haven Funeral Home, on Thursday, May 24, 2018 from the hours of 2-4 and 7-9pm. The funeral service will take place on Friday, May 25, 2018 at 2 pm from the Salvation Army Temple on O’Connell Drive with Majors Ed and Luanne Barrow officiating. Cremation to follow and interment to take place at a later date. As expressions of sympathy, flowers are graciously accepted or memorial donations may be made to the Janeway Hospital Foundation.

Henry Kenneth Gibbons
(February 12, 1929 - May 14, 2018)

It is with immense sadness that the family of Henry Kenneth Gibbons announce his passing on May 14, 2018 at the age of 89 years. Beloved husband of the late Elizabeth Alice Gibbons (Reid) for 62 years. He leaves his daughter Cynthia (Bob), son Douglas (Olga), granddaughter Sandi (Kelsey) Rhys, Eamon, Darragh and grandson Luke (Andrea) Rokley and Kaydence, with many loving memories, stories and life experiences. Henry will also be kindly remembered by his surviving brothers Harold, Doug, sister Audrey and family, brother-in-law Ernie (Peggy) and family, along with many dear friends, acquaintances of the town of Port Aux Basques and guests the Caribou Bed and Breakfast. Henry was a perfect, patient, witty, kind, and peaceful gentleman. He loved poetry and to tell a good story, often about the history of Newfoundland. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him. A combined funeral service for Henry and Elizabeth will be conducted at Country Haven Funeral Home, 167 Country Road, Corner Brook on May 18th 2018 starting at 10 AM. Followed by a combined interment at Mount Patricia Cemetery.

Elizabeth Sarah Benoit
(July 26, 1939 - May 01, 2018)

It is with heavy hearts and great sadness that the family of the late Elizabeth Benoit announce her passing at the Bay St. George Long Term Care Center on Tuesday, May 1, 2018 at the age of 78 years. She leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories, her children: Gina MacIsaac, Lenny Benoit (Debbie) and Ivy Benoit; her grandchildren: Carly, Shane, Leah, Sara, Lydia, Kayla, Brandon, Johnathan and Candice; her 56 long term foster children and numerous other foster children that were entrusted to her for motherly care and guidance; her sisters: Rosie Nodine (Danny), Marylyn Simon (Wayne), Doreen Fields (Steve) and Debbie Abbott (Gill); her brothers: Caron Retiffe (Mary), Thomas Retiffe and Bobby Retiffe (Charmaine); and also a large circle of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Elizabeth was predeceased by her husband Wilfred; her parents: Thomas & Laura Retiffe; and her son Jody Benoit. At Elizabeth’s request, cremation has taken place. There will be no formal visitation. A funeral mass will be held from the Maria Regina Roman Catholic Parish, Port au Port East on Monday, May 7, 2018 at 1pm with Father Chris officiating. Interment to follow at the Port au Port East Roman Catholic Church Cemetery. As expressions of sympathy, flowers can be sent to the Maria Regina Roman Catholic Parish in Port au Port East.

Ralph Vatis Loader
(January 22, 1944 - April 01, 2018)

It is with great sadness that the family of the late Ralph Loader announce his passing at the WMRH Palliative Care Unit surrounded by his loving family on April 1, 2018 in his 74th year. He leaves to mourn with fond & loving memories, his dear wife of 53 years Lorraine; his children: Lionel, Roderick (Sue-Ann), Terri-Lynn (Dave), and Koren (Don); his 8 grandchildren who were his pride and joy: Leah, Liam, Cody, Kristopher, Meghan, Mckenzie, Amie, and Caleb; his sister Sandra (Roy); his special friends: Sandra & Russell; as well as a large circle of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Ralph was predeceased by his mom and dad: Minnie & Douglas Loder; his brothers: Randell Overton and Douglas; his sisters: Inez and Elizabeth; and his father and mother in law: Lionel & Jane McAuley. Ralph was a founding member of the HIS Fire Department and the Qalipu Watchdogs. He was also involved in: The Lions Club, a member of the community council, the 4H Club, and the Men’s Service Club Anglican Church. He was an avid hunter, fisherman, gardener, musician and loved to tie fishing flies. Ralph was also a large advocate for the MFNAN. At Ralph’s request cremation has taken place. Visitation for family and friends will take place at Country Haven Funeral Home, 167 Country Road on Tuesday, April 3, 2018 from the hours of 2-3 pm from where a prayer service will take place at the Country Haven Chapel at 3 pm with Rev. Colbourne officiating. Interment to take place at a later date. As expressions of sympathy, in lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the WMRH Palliative Care Unit. A special thanks to all family and friends during this heart breaking time and to Hilda Bellows & Willie Loder, we are forever grateful for your loving care.

Pierce Victor Borden
(September 15, 1935 - June 4, 2011)

Passed peacefully away at the Long Term Care Unit in Corner Brook in his 75th year, Pierce Victor Borden. Leaving behind are his brothers; Eric (Joyce), Lawrence (Beatrice), and Bernard (Anne), his sister; Betty (Boyce) Hallett as well as a large circle of family and friends. He is predeceased by his wife Robena, brother; Jack, parents; Archibald & Eliza. Visitation will take place at Country Haven Funeral Home, 167 Country Road on Monday, June 6, 2011 from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. Cremation to follow. Funeral service will take place at Country Haven Funeral Home Chapel, 167 Country Road on Wednesday, June 8, 2011 at 2 p.m. with Major Frank Johnson officiating. Interment to follow at Mount Patricia Cemetery. As expressions of sympathy, memorial donations may be made to the Salvation Army Temple Church Fund.
