BADCOCK, Mary Yvonne – Passed away peacefully on September 22, 2007 at her home in Cambridge, Ontario, in her 64th year, loving wife and best friend of Gerald J. Badcock for 42 years, after a lengthy struggle with dementia. Will be sadly missed by her beloved Alaskan Malamute, Motcie. Yvonne was born on Bell Island, Newfoundland and formerly worked at Walker Exhaust for 28 years. Honorary member of the Cambridge Newfoundland Club. Yvonne is survived by one sister Loretta O’Brien (James), and four brothers, Leo Young (Marjorie), John (Nellie), Edward (Clara) and James. Sister-in-law, Joyce Conrad of St. John’s, Newfoundland and brothers-in-law Allan Conrad of Whitbourne, Newfoundland and Eric Parsons of Freshwater, Newfoundland as well as many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her parents John (1999) and Elizabeth (1989) and her brother Frederick (1953). At Yvonne’s request, cremation has taken place and there will be no visitation or funeral service. Interment will take place at the Salvation Army Cemetery, Pilley’s Island, Newfoundland. Arrangements entrusted to Little’s Funeral Home & Cremation Centre, Cambridge (519) 623-1290. Special thanks to Dr. Alex Young of Grandview medical Centre, Maria Andre of Wispers, Betty Perrin and her Excellent staff of the Community Alzheimer Day Program Sunnyside Home, Kitchener, Alicia Grey of C.C.A.C, Colleen Mutrie of E.T. Now, and true friends Edward and the late Marjorie (2004) Huddleston, Jean Shearen R.P.N. of the Community Alzheimer Day Program, Sunnyside Home and Pat Bolender of ParaMed. In Yvonne’s memory donations may be made to the Sunnyside Home, Community Alzheimer Day Program by contacting the funeral home.

CONWAY, Nellie – Passed peacefully away at the Hoyles Escasoni Complex on Sunday, September 23, 2007. Nellie Conway, formerly of Renews, in her 97th year. Leaving to mourn daughters Elsie Pendergast (Mike), Evelyn Geary (Ambrose), Agnes Rice (Roy) and Cecilia Shaw; sons John and Myles (Marg); also a large number of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great great-grandchildren and other relatives and friends. Resting at Caul’s Funeral Home, LeMarchant Road. Visitation Sunday 7 - 9 p.m. and Monday and Tuesday 10 a.m. - 9 p.m. Funeral service on Wednesday from Caul’s Chapel at 9:30 a.m. Cremation to follow.

EZEKIEL, Samuel Jr. (April 5th, 1920 - September 22nd, 2007) – Passed peacefully away after a short but valiant battle with cancer. Predeceased by his parents: Samuel Sr. & Anne, brother: Jack, Sisters: Mary & Veronica. Survived by his wife of 60 years, Levina, sons: Leo, Michael (Anne Marie), John (Aggie), daughters: Annie (John), Betty (Garry), and Edna (Barry) . Special mention to grandchildren whom resided with him, Toni-Lynn (Steven) and his buddy Jordan. Grandchildren: Shawn (Suzanne), Susan (Jason), Mark, Melanie (Adrian), Johnny (Crystal), Derek (Sue-anne), Tinna (Wilson), Linsey (Duke), Lesley (Jason), great-grandchildren: Liam, Amanda, Megan, Hanna, Isabelle, Jorja, extended family and friends. The family would like to extend many thanks to Dr. Russell Lake, and the staff of Transition unit of Escasoni. Flowers gratefully accepted, and donations can be made to the Transition Unit of Escasoni. Resting at Dunphy’s Funeral Home, Holyrood. Visitation from 2 - 4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. on Monday & Tuesday. Funeral will take place at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, September 26, 2007 with Mass of Christian Burial from SS Peter & Paul Church, Harbour Main. Interment will be in SS. Peter & Paul Cemetery, Harbour Main.

FOLEY, Donald J. (Longtime emplyee of the City of St. John’s - retired December 2002) – Passed away suddenly at his residence at the age of 55 years on September 23, 2007, Donald J. Foley. Predeceased by his father James (Feb. 2007), brother-in-law Claude Power (Nov. 1980) . Leaving to mourn his loving mother Louise; brother Jimmie (Lorraine); three sisters: Dorothy Murray, Patsy (Gerald Evans) and Sandra; three nephews: John Murray (Leona), Chris Evans (Kelli) and Keith Evans (Natalie); three nieces: Sheri Dawe (Colin), Lisa Holwell (Corey) and Kelly Murray (Steven Hawco) . Don will be certainly missed by his great nieces and nephews: Jonathon, Christopher, Nathan and Noah Evans; Brooklyn Evans, Damien Dawe and most of all the light of his life Olivia Holwell; also a very special aunt Dorothy Sellars. Resting at Caul’s Funeral Home, LeMarchant Road. Visitation will be Monday from 7-9 p.m. and Tuesday and Wednesday from 10 a.m. to 12 noon, 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. Funeral mass to take place on Thursday, September 27, 2007 at 9:30 a.m. from the Basilica of St. John the Baptist Church. Interment to follow at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery. Flowers gratefully accepted or a donation can be made in his memory to the Longside Club for disabled persons.

JANES, Mildred B. (nee Dyke) – Passed peacefully away at the Health Sciences Centre on Sunday, Sept. 23, 2007 in the presence of her loving family, Mildred Janes, aged 89 years. Predeceased by her husband Ronald 1991. Leaving to mourn seven children: Lydia Power, Harold & wife Doreen, Audrey Hogan, Edwin & wife Sandy, Joyce Thompson & husband Jack, Sharron Tracey & Husband Gordon, Terry Janes; twenty-two grandchildren: Ronald Crouch (Gail), Lynda Crouch (Vernon Hodder), Donna Crouch (Irvin Ivany), Roger Crouch (Michelle), Deanne Brosnan (Eamon), Lesley Priddle (Bradford), Dr. Darryl Hogan (Danielle), Philip Hogan, Jaime Hogan (Michael Fudge), Lisa Little (Steve), Nancy Snedden (Keith), Paul Janes (Kim), Colin Janes, Sarah Connors, Lori Williams (Keith), Keith Thompson, Sherry Thompson, Heather Tracey (fiancee Albert), Crystal Tracey, Matthew Tracey, Nicholas Janes, Alexander Janes, also twenty two great-grandchildren, and a large circle of extended family and friends and special family friend Patricia (Tish) Janes. Resting at Carnell’s Funeral Home, 329 Freshwater Road on Monday from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. and on Tuesday from 9:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. Funeral service to take place on Wednesday, September 26, 2007 at 2 p.m. from the Anglican Cathedral with interment to follow in the Anglican Cemetery, Kenmount Road. O’KEEFE, Ambrose (Sam) – Passed peacefully away at home Ambrose O'Keefe (Sam) at age 60 years of Placentia. Leaving to mourn are his loving wife Jean; stepdaughter Trina Kenney; stepsons Bruce and Donny Kenney and their families; His sons Kevin (Wanda), Sammy (Belinda), and Cory; Daughters Lisa and Cindy; Brothers Tommy (Janet) and Gordon (Agnus); Sisters Mary, Betty, Florence and their families; Also a wide circle of other family and friends. Resting at Maher’s Funeral Home, Placentia on Tuesday from 3 p.m. to 9 p.m. Funeral Service to take place 11 a.m. on Wednesday at Maher’s Funeral Home, Placentia.

PIKE, Francis William (Bill) – Passed peacefully away after a lengthy illness at the Caribou Veteran’s Pavilion on Saturday, September 22, Francis William Pike in his 82nd year. Bill served with the 166th Nfld Field Regiment during WWII and was a member of the Canadian Legion Branch Number 1. Leaving to mourn his loving and devoted wife Ruby (Brake); loving daughter Elizabeth (Edward) Lockyer and precious granddaughter Alexandria; also sister Ellen Roberts; brothers: James (Ruby), Mack (Ann); sisters-in-law: Bertha Butler and Hilda Pike; nieces, nephews and a large circle of other family and friends. Bill was predeceased by his parents The Honorable Frank and May Pike; also brother George and brother-in-law Stanley Roberts. Resting at Carnell’s Funeral Home, 329 Freshwater Road with visitation on Monday and Tuesday from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. Funeral service to be held on Wednesday, September 26, 2007 at 2 p.m. from the Carnell memorial Chapel with interment to follow at Mount pleasant Cemetery, Field of Honor. As expressions of sympathy, donations may be made in his memory to the Janeway Hospital or the SPCA.

CROWELL, Netta Mary (Hill, Coughlin) – Died to this life, peacefully at St. Clare’s Mercy Hospital, St. John’s, on Monday, September 24, 2007, surrounded by her loving children: Philip, Margaret, Theresa and Rosemary. Predeceased by her parents Lewis and Vivian Hill, husband Kenneth H. Crowell and her children’s father Philip B. Coughlin. Left to mourn her passing son Philip Coughlin (Margaret), Theresa Coughlin Anstey (Wayne), Rosemary Coughlin Gray (Eugene); also her precious grandchildren: Stephen Couglin (Renee); Jennie Anstey Rosenberg (David); David Anstey (Melanie); Laura Beth and Brandon Gray; two dear great-grandchildren: Liam and Aiden Rosenberg; sisters: Evelyn Mendina, Florida, Mabel Russell, Elsie Hill and Edith Daniels, St. John’s; also left with fond memories her extended Crowell family as well as a large circle of relatives and friends. Visitation on Tuesday, September 25th 7-9 p.m., Wednesday, September 26th 2-4 p.m. and visitation in Glenwood First United Church, Wednesday, September 26th 7-9 p.m. Funeral service to take place at the First United Church, Glenwood, Thursday, September 27, 2007 at 2 p.m. Flowers gratefully accepted or donations may be made in her memory to the First United Church, Glenwood.
