MURPHY, Elizabeth (Butler) – Passed peacefully away at the Health Science Centre, September 16, 2007, Elizabeth Murphy (Butler) of Bell Island. Predeceased by her parents James and Julie Butler; brothers Patrick and Michael, sister Mary Brazil, son Keith and daughter Dana. Leaving to mourn her ever loving husband Daniel, her sons Gerard (Beverley), Sean (Lorraine), Danny; her daughters Jeannie (Douglas Hughes), Julia (Robert Whelan), Kelly (Sean Bickford); her grandchildren Adam, Melissa, Joshua, Mark, Shannon, Sean, Ryan, Julianna, Seana and Aaron; her sisters Helen Pitts, Alice Carroll and Patricia Neville and a large circle of extended family and friends. Funeral Service has taken place. In lieu of flowers a donation can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.
NORMAN, Teresa (nee Murphy) – Passed peacefully away at home, surrounded by her loving family, on Thursday, September 20, 2007, Teresa Norman, age 93 years. Predeceased by her husband John, 1999 and brother Dominic (Johanna), 1977. Left with fond and loving memories, her children Leonard (Jane), Kevin (June - deceased), John (Joyce), Joanna (Joshua), Judy (Matthew - deceased), Paul (Glenys), Elizabeth (Vince), Robert and Donald (Maureen); twenty-one grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; nieces Noreen Simms (Herb), Margaret Roberts, Teresa Grainer - deceased; as well as other relatives and a large circle of other relatives and friends. Resting at Caul’s Funeral Home, LeMarchant Road. Visitation Thursday from 7 p.m. - 9 p.m. and Friday from 2 p.m. - 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. - 9 p.m. Funeral Mass on Saturday, September 22, 2007 at 10:30 a.m. from the Basilica of St. John the Baptist. O’NEILL, Esther (November 13, 1913 - September 21, 2007) – It is with great sadness that the family of the late Esther O’Neill announce her passing at the L.A. Miller Center at the age of 93 years. She was born on Bell Island, the daughter of Philip and Mary Corbett and grew up in St. John’s, NL. Left with many wonderful memories are husband of 58 years, Lawrence; brother-in-law John O’Neill (Elizabeth), St. John’s, NL; sisters-in-law: Mary Collins (Robert, deceased), Virginia Beach, USA; Catherine Greeley (Earnest), Bay Roberts, NL and Theresa O’Neill (Francis, deceased), Mt. Pearl, NL. Also a large number of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. Visitation to take place from Barrett’s Funeral Home, 1081 Topsail Road, Mt. Pearl on Saturday, September 22, from 7-9 p.m. and on Sunday, September 23, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral service to take place from Mary Queen of the World Parish, Mt. Pearl, on Monday, September 24, at 9:30 a.m. Interment to follow at the Belvedere Cemetery, Empire Avenue. OSBORNE, Joan E. – It is with great sadness that the family of Joan Osborne (nee Drover), age 67 years, announce her sudden passing on September 17, 2007 at the Health Sciences Center, surrounded by her loving family. Predeceased by son Brian (2004) and father William Drover (1981) . Leaving to mourn her loving husband Edward (Eddie), Upper Island Cove; daughter Rosalind (Don Brennan) and precious grand-daughter Claire, Mount Pearl; son Kevin, Bay Roberts and stepchildren Joanne, Victoria, B.C. and Colin, St. John’s; mother Susie Drover; sisters Marcie Neil (Johnny) and family, Jean Parsons (Ted) and family; brothers Raymond (Evelyn) and family, Gerald (Jean) and family; and a large circle of extended family and friends. Funeral arrangements were handled by Hussey’s Funeral Home. Interment was at the Anglican Cemetery, Upper Island Cove, Thursday, September 20, 2007. POTTLE, Emmie – Passed peacefully away at the Agnes Pratt Nursing Home, St. John’s on Wednesday, September 5, 2007, Emmie Pottle of Job’s Cove, age 81 years. Predeceased by son: Rodger Gary and granddaughter: Wendy. Left to mourn husband Clarence G.; four daughters Margaret (Thomas) Mayo, Paradise; Mabel (Donald) Pender, St. Phillips; Elizabeth Murphy, Toronto, ON and Gertie (Donald) Milley, Paradise; one son Roy, Paradise; five grandchildren Donnie (Melissa), Karen, Amanda, Renee and Ryan; four great-grandchildren Ashley, Faith, Haleigh and Travis; one brother Clarence (Florence) Buckler, Northern Bay; two sisters Beatrice Pender, St. John’s and Elexey (Heber) Noftle, Carbonear; also a large number of other relatives and friends. Rev. Peggy Johnson conducted the funeral service on Saturday, September 8 at Faith United Church and Cemetery, Job’s Cove. RYAN, Gerard Patrick – Passed away suddenly at his residence in Ottawa on Friday, September 14, 2007, Gerard Ryan, formerly of Colliers, Conception Bay. Predeceased by his parents Michael and Bridget Ryan, 1993 and 2002 and younger brothers: Tony, 1996 and Vince, 2004. Leaving to mourn sisters: Bernice, Genevieve and Catherine and brothers: Aiden and Ben and their families, as well as numerous cousins and friends. Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be scheduled at a date to be announced.
SKIFFINGTON, Amy – Passed peacefully away at her daughter’s residence in Markland on Friday, September 21, 2007, Amy Skiffington of Musgravetown, aged 88 years. Predeceased by her husband Otto; sons Boyd Donald and Douglas; daughter Mary and son-in-law Augustus Clarke.
