HARRIS, Carmel Mary (nee McCarthy) - age 65, formerly of Corner Brook. Passed away suddenly at her residence. Leaving to mourn a large circle of brothers, sisters, family and friends. Cremation has already taken place. The Rite of Christian Burial will take place from Caul's Chapel on Sunday, August 19, 2007 at 2:00 p.m.
HICKEY, Marlene (nee Healey) - Passed away after a brief illness on Saturday, August 11, 2007, age 69 years. Predeceased by her husband of 44 years, Basil J. Hickey (November 2005) and her parents Leo P. and Mary Healey. Beloved mother of Tom (Lori) and Katharine (Jim Walsh) . Dearest Nana to Alison and Grace Walsh. Sisters Eleanor (Ron Casey), Toni (Don Morrell, Ottawa) and brother Gerard Healey (Robyn) . Sisters-in-law Pauline and Laura Hickey, and a large and caring extended family and circle of friends. Marlene was an exceptional person who touched many lives, other than those of her families. A longstanding member of the Newfoundland Symphony Orchestra, Marlene cherished her music, friendships, her bridge crowd and her darling little granddaughters. Her life was full - with many adventures and experiences waiting for her. She was an inspiration to any who had the privilege of meeting her. She will be sadly missed by all. Donations in Marlene's memory may be made to the Newfoundland Symphony Orchestra. Funeral took place on Tuesday, August 14 at 9:30 a.m. at Corpus Christi Church. Interment followed at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery.
HOSKINS, Bertha Lily (nee Bolt) - January 13th, 1920 - July 21st, 2006. Announcing a Memorial Service for Bertha Hoskins. It is with great sadness that the family of the late Bertha Lily Hoskins announced her passing on Friday, July 31, 2006 at the Timmins and District Hospital in Timmins, Ontario at the age of 86 years. She leaves to mourn with loving memories her children: Byron Bolt (Sandi), Lower Sackville, Nova Scotia, Shirley LeBlanc (Victor), Kapuskasing, Ontario, Linda Porter, Southern Ontario, Loretta Lukowski (Ray), Kapuskasing, Ontario, Raymond Hoskins Jr., (Barbara), Ottawa, Ontario; grandchildren: Corinne Carroll (Cory), Ottawa, Ontario, Tammy Porter, Deer Lake, Shawn Porter, Burnaby, British Columbia, Chantal and Andrew Lukowski, Kapuskasing, Ontario, Jordan Hoskins, Ottawa, Ontario, and great-grandson Conner Carroll, Ottawa, Ontario; as well as a large circle of relatives and friends. She was predeceased by her husband Raymond Hoskins (May 12th, 1988) . Friends may visit Fillatres Funeral Home, 10 Clinic Drive Deer Lake on Thursday August 23rd from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. The Memorial Service will be held on Friday August 24th, 2007 from St. Michael's and All Angels Anglican Church at 2 p.m. with Rev. John Meade. Interment to follow at the Anglican Cemetery Farm Road.
KING, H. James (Jim) - 61 years of Dieppe and formerly of Moncton, N.B. Passed away suddenly at the Georges L. Dumont Hospital, Friday, July 27, 2007. Born in Dorking, Surrey, England, he was the son of Audrey and the late Hubert C. King (Bert) of Bay Roberts, NL. Besides his mother, Jim will be sadly missed by daughters: Cathy and Veronica, both of Dieppe; sons: Jim Jr. (Line), Tom of Moncton, Bob (Cindy), Dieppe; grandchildren: Zack, Jacob, Cody, Hailey, Kristopher and Max; sister Olive Ruby (Len), Palmerston North, New Zealand, Gordon (Ann), Cocagne, N.B.; several nephews and nieces. He was predeceased by his father and infant brother John. Funeral took place from Ferguson Knowles Funeral Chapel. Archdeacon Reginald Stockall officiated.
McRAE, John Gerard (Gerry) - Passed peacefully away at the L.A. Miller Centre on Thursday, August 16, 2007, John Gerard (Gerry) McRae, WW II Veteran, age 82 years. Leaving to mourn his brother Arthur McRae; three nephews; one niece; three great-nieces, other relatives and friends, especially good friend Larry Cahill and family. Resting at Caul's Funeral Home, LeMarchant Road. Visitation Sunday, August 19 from 2 p.m. - 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. - 9 p.m. Funeral Mass on Monday, August 20, 2007 at 10:30 a.m. from the Basilica of St. John the Baptist. Interment to follow at Belvedere Cemetery.
MUGFORD, Byron- Passed peacefully away at his home in Mapbridge, BC., after a lengthy battle with cancer on August 5, 2006, surrounded by loved ones. Predeceased by his parents Warren and Selina Mugford, niece Connie Mugford, in-laws William and Eva Drover and sister-in-law Margaret White. Leaving to mourn with fond loving memories his wife Ada Mugford; two sons: Greg (Desiree), Steven (Melissa); his pride and joy three loving granddaughters: Margaret, Kelsie and Megan. (Judy since deceased); sister-in-law Eileen (Ken); six brothers-in-law: Roy (Linda), Harvey (Ethel), Randolph (Barbra), Derek (Marcella), Ray (Susan), John (Irene) . Also a large number of other relatives and friends. Rested at Hussey's Funeral Home, Upper Island Cove, August 17, 2007 from 2-4 p.m. and from 7-10 p.m. Memorial Service will take place at Hussey's Funeral Home with interment to follow at St. Peter's Anglican Cemetery, Upper Island Cove, on August 18, 2007 at 2 p.m.
MULLINS, Viola Joyce- Passed away on August 15, 2007 at the Health Sciences Centre, Viola Joyce Mullins, age 79 years. Predeceased by her husband Norman. Leaving to mourn sons: William and Norman (Debbie); daughter Judith (Joseph); grandchildren: Maxwell, Nicole and Michael; brothers and sisters: Cecil, Nellie, Wallace, Gary, Linda and Dorothy; as well as a large circle of relatives and friends. Resting at Carnell's Funeral Home, 329 Freshwater Road on Friday from 2:00 - 9:00 p.m. Funeral service to take place on Saturday, August 18, 2007 at 11:00 a.m. from St. Mark's Anglican Church, Logy Bay Road. O'HARA, Margaret Mary- Cribbon's Point, Antigonish Co., Nova Scotia; October 15, 1923 - August 15, 2007. Beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great- grandmother and sister. Predeceased in death by Margie, her daughter. She leaves behind her Ernest, darling husband of 64 years; her daughters: Mary (Matt) Kimball, Sharon (Paul) Parker, Joanie (Grant) Woods, Marian (Rob) Kimball, Maureen (Hugh) McFarlane, Colleen O'Hara, Kathleen O'Hara and her only son, Ernest John (Jackeline) O'Hara. Her cherished 22 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; her two sisters: Mary Malloy and Theresa Sutton and all the rest of her loving family and friends. Born to John and Louisa O'Neill on October 15, 1923 in Long Beach, NL. In 1942 she married Ernest O'Hara. Ernest's work took them to many places. Early in their marriage they lived in Chesterfield Inlet and Sable Island. She loved the adventure even while raising nine children. She also contributed her time and energy to various church and community groups, a long standing member of the CWL. But most of all she will be remembered as a wonderful wife and amazing mother. She will be sorely missed by all who were fortunate to have had her in their lives. Visitation 7-9 p.m. Tuesday, August 21, 2007 in Tuttle's Funeral Home, 171 Lutz St., Moncton, NB, where parish prayers and sharing of memories will be held at 8:30 that evening at the funeral home. Mass of Christian Burial 1:00 p.m. Wednesday in Holy Family Church, Moncton, Rev. Bernard Sloan presiding. Burial in Our Lady of Calvary Cemetery. Reception to follow. Family flowers only.
