BRETT, Hardy- Passed peacefully away at the James Paton Memorial Hospital, Gander on August 16, 2007, Mr. Hardy Brett, age 82 years. Predeceased by parents Allan & Amelia Brett, sister Vera Small. Left with loving memories are his wife, Melvina, sons Terrence (Rosalyn) of St. John's, Wayne (Angela) of Ottawa; brother Raymond (Marion) of Morton's Harbour; sister Audrey (Don) Curnew of Gander; three grandchildren April, Robert and Caden; also a large circle of other relatives and friends. Funeral services Sunday, August 19, 2007 from Fraser Road United Church, Gander. Inurnment All Saints Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations in his memory may be made to the H. Bliss Murphy Cancer Care Clinic, Gander Unit. The support and kindness of family and friends and neighbours has helped to relieve the pain during this difficult time. Special thanks to Rev. Stephanie McClellan and the staff at the James Paton Memorial Hospital, Gander. Loving you always, forgetting you never. Arrangements through Stacey's Funeral Home, Gander.

BUNGAY, Roy - It is with great sadness that the family of Colonel Roy Bungay announces his passing on August 17, 2007 at James Paton Memorial Hospital in Gander, NL. Colonel Bungay was Promoted to Glory with his family at his side and is survived by his loving wife, Joy, sons Rodney (Paulette), Roger (Mary) and Raymond (Sheila), and five grand-children: Jonathan, Janaine, Kiri, Sara and Jenna. Also left to mourn are his parents, Kenneth and Elsie; brothers: Carl (Ethel), Merrill (Cecilia), Kevin (Jackie), Wayne (Deborah), and Lorne (Jackie); sisters: Blanche (Harry Harris), Joan (Barry Collier) and Lorriena (David Allison) . Colonel's Roy and Joy Bungay served in overseas ministry and executive leadership in Canada, Singapore, Malaysia, South Africa, and Papua New Guinea. Visitations at Stacy's Funeral Home will be held on Sunday 1-5 p.m., Monday 1-4 p.m., 7-9 p.m., and Tuesday 10-11 a.m. A service in celebration of his life will be held on Tuesday at 2 p.m. at the Salvation Army Gander Citadel. Donations in his memory may be made to either the Salvation Army Gander Citadel Band or the Salvation Army Wesleyville Corps.

DEAN, Bonita Joan- Passed peacefully away at her residence in Caplin Cove on August 11, 2007, in her 65th year. Predeceased by parents Frank and Harriett Hunt; sisters: Elizabeth Hunt and Marie Cannings; brothers: Harry Hunt and Mac Hunt. Left to mourn with fond and loving memories are her husband Lloyd of 40 years; daughter Roxane; son Rodney; sister Diane (Russ Poole); brother Robert Hunt (Jackie); special nieces and nephews and a large circle of family and friends. Rev. Lorraine Moores and Rev. Judy Squires conducted the funeral service at Bethany United Church in Southport on Tuesday, August 14, 2007, with interment in United Church Cemetery. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Fewer's Funeral Home. Pallbearers were nephews: Bradley Poole, Johnny Dean, Michael Dean and Tony Dean along with brother-in-law Alonzo Dean and special friend Ed Wheeler. Honorary pallbearers (Caregivers) were Betty Stringer, Joan Peddle and Florence Baker. Donations in her memory may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or the Canadian Diabetes Association or to the Dean family.

DOMINIE, Cyril Ward, S/Sgt.- Retired, Regimental #21774. At Moncton, NB on Sunday, August 12, 2007, after a courageous battle with cancer. Survived by his daughters: Susan (Ken) Spenceley, Charlottetown, PEI and Laura (Jerred) Brown, Hagerstown, Maryland, USA; sister Kathleen (Harold) Pike of Dartmouth, NS. He is also survived by his special friend, Barb Chambers who selflessly cared for Dad not only in the early days of his sickness at home, but even after he was admitted to the hospital for the last time, sitting with him for countless hours. Cyril protected the highways of New Brunswick and Newfoundland throughout his fulfilling career as a proud member of the RCMP during his postings in New Brunswick at Bathurst, Moncton, Hampton, St. George, Sackville, Fredericton and in Newfoundland at Holyrood and St. John's before retiring after 341/2 years of service in 1995. Cyril was a true highway patrolman throughout his career and was a pioneer in the implementation of the breathalyzer instrument, roadside screening devices and accident reconstruction programs in the mid 1960's. Throughout his service he maintained a strong presence on the highways he policed and lead by example. Upon his retirement he had attained the rank of Staff Sergeant and was the Traffic Services Supervisor for the Province of Newfoundland. Besides woodworking and always having a project on the go, he devoted many hours volunteering in the community of Holyrood in activities such as the Children's Santa Claus Parade and the Crystal Carnival Winterfest. He was given the honor of Citizen of the Year by the Town of Holyrood in 1992 for these and many other efforts and initiatives. Upon his retirement from the Force and subsequent return to Moncton in 2001 he became involved in the RCMP Veteran's Association and was serving as Vice-President until June 2007. Although his career was always foremost in his mind, when he became a grandfather he took the role seriously and now leaves behind many treasured memories for Sarah and Hannah Spenceley, and Jack, Gabriella and Olivia Brown. Visitation at Fair Haven Funeral Home, 1177 Salisbury Road, Moncton, NB, Friday, August 17, 2007 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. with Memorial Service to be held from the funeral home chapel on Saturday, August 18, 2007 at 2 p.m. with burial to follow at Fair Haven Memorial Gardens. The family would appreciate donations to The Friends of the Moncton Hospital Oncology Department or to the Palliative Care Unit. Funeral arrangements entrusted to Fair Haven Funeral Home, 1177 Salisbury Road, Moncton.

FLEMING, Patrick 'Pat'- Passed peacefully away at Harbour Grace on Wednesday, August 15, 2007, Pat Fleming, age 94 years. Retired Air Traffic Controller with Transport Canada, Gander, NL. Predeceased by parents, Michael and Lucy; four brothers: Frank, James, Thomas and Michael. Leaving to mourn special niece with whom he resided, Marie (Francis) Sullivan, Harbour Grace and their children: Paul (Jennifer), Stephen (Caroline) and Maggie; niece Margaret Fleming, Harbour Grace; nephew Frank (Justina) Fleming, Harbour Grace and their children: Liam (Janelle) and Tara (Frank) Poce; as well as many other nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Resting at NOEL'S FUNERAL HOME, HARVEY STREET, HARBOUR GRACE and from where the funeral will take place on Saturday, August 18th at 10:00 a.m. Mass to follow at 10:30 a.m. from Immaculate Conception Roman Catholic Church and Cemetery, Harbour Grace. In lieu of flowers, as an expression of sympathy, donations in his memory may be made to the Immaculate Conception R.C. Church Restoration Fund. Visitation hours at Noel's Funeral Home are 10:30 a.m. to 12:00 noon, 2:00 to 5:00 p.m., 7:00 to 9:30 p.m. daily.

GENGE, A. Preston- Passed away peacefully in the presence of his family, Friday, August 10, 2007 at the James Paton Memorial Regional Health Centre, Gander, NL, A. Preston Genge, age 81 years. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories his wife Leonie (Smith); daughters: Patricia (Rod) Pritchett, Gander, NL, Debra (Glenn) Cooper, Richmond, B.C. and son Timothy (Trudy) Genge, Gander, NL; four grandchildren: Andrew, Danielle, Shannon, Joshua and two sisters: Selma Hedge, Hertha (Fred) Blackwood and one brother Ralph (Elvie) Genge; as well as a large number of family and friends and Masonic Brethren. Funeral service took place from St. Martin's Anglican Church, August 13, 2007 with interment at All Saints Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Canadian Heart and Stroke Foundation. Arrangements entrusted to the professional care of Stacey's Funeral Home, Gander, NL.

GOSSE, John Gardner Young- Passed away at Grey Nuns Hospital, Edmonton, AB, August 12, 2007, age 68 years. Predeceased by parents John and Jean Gosse, sister Ann Freeland. Leaving to mourn sons: Steven and Brent (Wendy); daughter Nancy (Chris) Finn; grandchildren: Ryan and Sarah Finn; brothers: Tom (Evelyn) and Wally (Maria); sister Jean (Art); brother-in-law John Freeland; aunt Lol Baggs; cousins: Marion Baggs, Nathan (Anne) Gosse, Jean Mary (Mickey) Taylor; nephews and nieces: Becky Gosse, Pablo Gosse, David Freeland and Elizabeth (John) Beal.

GREENE, Dr. Cyril T.- Peacefully at University Hospital on Sunday, August 12, 2007, Dr. Cyril T. Greene of London, ON in his 74th year. Beloved husband of Freda (Morgan) Greene. Loving father of Cyril Greene (Carrie), Daniel Greene (Lisa), Cynthia Nettleton (late husband Tim), all of London, David Greene (late wife Kathy) of Grand Bend, and Edward Greene (Shelley) of London. Also loved by his grandchildren: Katie, Ryan, Morgan, Lauren, Danielle and Anthony. Dear brother of Eileen Brooke (John), Joan Hollihan, Elizabeth Roberts (Wilf), Edwina Comerford (John), and Maureen Casey (Jim); brother-in-law of Ruby Mercer (Ralph) and Cyril Morgan (Patricia) . He is survived by many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his sister Mary Dunphy, and by his brother Gerard. Dr. Cyril T. Greene was a graduate of Dalhousie University and practiced dentistry for 39 years. Memorial visitation and service was held at the Westview Funeral Chapel, London, ON., (519) 641-1793. Those wishing to make a donation in memory of Dr. Greene are asked to consider the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Ontario.
