COOMBS, Henry – Passed peacefully away at the Health Science Complex Aug. 17, 2007, in the presence of his loving family, Henry Coombs of Colliers, age 77 years. Predeceased by his parents Henry and Susan Coombs, his sisters Mary and Madeline and brothers Ron and Jim. Left with fond and loving memories his devoted wife Anna, his sons Tom (Mary), James (Debbie), Henry (Trudy) and Edward; daughters Susan (Ralph), Madonna (Alphonsus) and Mary (Gary) . Also 14 grandchildren Ron, Rod, Tommy, Amanda, Kim, Bobby, Katie, Cody, Jennifer, Daniel, Shannon, Jeffery, Devin and Dylan. Four great-grandchildren Emily, Kaleigh, Brady and Mackenzie. One brother Edward (Marie) and one sister Emma. Resting at Conway’s Funeral Home, Conception Harbour, Sunday and Monday 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. Funeral mass Tuesday Aug. 21 at 11 a.m. at Immaculate Conception Church, Colliers. Interment to follow at Immaculate Conception Cemetery.

DROVER-HORWOOD, Ruth – Of Paradise, age 74. Passed away at St. Clare’s Hospital on August 18 after a lengthy illness. Predeceased by her husband Baxter; father Joseph Drover; brother Wilf and niece Tayna Drover. Leaving to mourn mother Sarah Drover, twin brother Wilson; brothers Joe; Tom (Diane); sisters Joyce Lynch (Joe); Phyllis; Beatrice Marsh (Melvin); brothers-in-law Sam (Helen); Jack and sister-in-law Bertha Horwood, as well as a number of nieces and nephews. Resting at Carnell’s Funeral Home, 329 Freshwater Road with visitation on Sunday and Monday from 2 p.m.-4 p.m. and 7 p.m.-9 p.m. Funeral service will take place on Tuesday, August 21 at 10 a.m. from the Carnell Memorial Chapel with a private family interment to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations in Ruth’s memory may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
FITZPATRICK, Fred – On Saturday, August 18th 2007, Fred, aged 50 years, formerly of Stephenville NL, passed peacefully away at his home in Fall River, NS, surrounded by his loving family. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories are his wife; Debbie, two daughters; Lindsay and Meghan, mother; Nell Fitzpatrick, brother; Robert (Melissa), sister; Colleen (Paul) Green, nephew Michael Fitzpatrick, niece; Susan Green. Predeceased by his father; Tom, brothers; Thomas, Tommy, Gerald and Barry. Fred was a highly respected pilot by his fellow co-workers of Air Canada Jazz Airlines, where he was employed for 21 years until the time of his death. Fred was a friend to all, but his “wife and girls” were always the main priority in his life. Cremation has taken place. A celebration of Fred’s life will take place with a Memorial Mass at St. John Vianney Church, Lower Sackville, N.S., on this Wednesday August 22nd at 10 a.m. A reception will take place following the Memorial Mass at the church hall. No flowers by request, donations in his memory may be made to St. John Vianney Church, the Canadian Cancer Society, or to the charity of one’s choice.
KENNEY, Cecilia Mary – Passed peacefully away at home in the presence of her loving family on Sunday, August 19, 2007, Cecilia Mary Kenney formerly of Conche, just 23 days short of her 91st birthday. Predeceased by her husband Bernard (1987) . Left with fond and loving memories are her daughters Maude (Leonard Jones), Marie, Alice Josephine (Clyde Bagg) . Very special godson Verg, five grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren. Sister Madeline Foley, two brothers Albert Lewis (Bride), Harry Lewis. Sister-in-law Nellie Kenney. Many nieces and nephews and a large circle of friends. Visitation will take place at Caul’s Funeral Home, LeMarchant Road on Monday from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. Then resting at Sacred Heart Church, Conche, on Wednesday. Funeral Mass on Thursday, August 23, 2007 from Sacred Heart Church, Conche, with interment to follow in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Conche. MURPHY, Patrick A. – Passed peacefully away in the presence of his loving family at Placentia Health Care Centre on August 19, 2007, age 65 years, of Ship Harbour. Predeceased by his parents Patrick and Jane Ann Murphy, brother Thomas Murphy and sister Connie Murphy. Leaving with fond and loving memories his beloved wife Blanche (nee Power), son Paddy (Wendy), brother and best friend Gordon (Irene), sisters Mary King, Elizabeth (Michael) Griffiths, Shirley (Timothy) White, special cousin Anne Griffiths, sisters-in-law Maria Murphy, Lillian Sullivan (George Sheaves), Nora Cameron (John), Mary, brothers-in-law Robert Power (Marion), Norman, Kevin Power (Jean), special niece Debbie Meade (Tony), as well as a large number of nieces, nephews and friends. Predeceased by her husband George and daughter Elizabeth. RIDEOUT, Carl – Passed peacefully away at the L.A.Miller Centre on Sunday August 19, 2007 in the presence of his family age 67 years of Long Pond. Predeceased by his parents Noah and Mary Rideout. Leaving with fond and loving memories his wife Betty of 31 years. Brother Eric (Frances), special nephews Ernest Rideout Jr. (Emily) whom he adored, Carroll Rideout and Roy Rideout (Zita), special great nephew Nathan (Dars Boy), special sisters-in-law Rita Rideout and Daphne Rideout, brother-in-law Gary Porter (Marina), special family friends Bernard Dooley (Louise), Wallace Porter (Pam), Jim Sceviour (Helen) and many nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. At Carl’s request cremation has taken place.
SOOLEY, Mamie (nee Hicks) – Passed peacefully away on August 18, 2007, at St. Clare’s Mercy Hospital in the care of her loving and devoted family, Mamie Sooley (nee Hicks), at the age of 89. Predeceased by her husband, Stewart Lloyd Sooley, on February 14, 1996. Devoted mother of Loretta Forsyth (Andy); Eleanor Bennett (Gerry Murphy); Joan Bursey; Gary Sooley (Barb); and Valerie Sooley (Larry Small) . Loving grandmother of Robert Bennett (Dorothy) and Patrick Bennett; Richard Bursey (Jennifer Gisborne) and Krista Bursey (Jason Wasserman); Glen Sooley (Kelly); Michael Sooley (Leanne) and Gail Sooley; Colleen Kirby (Mark); Heather Rossiter (Dean Craniford) and Michael Rossiter (Karen Follett) and Sarah Bannister. Cherished great-grandmother of Shannon and Emma Bennett; Caleb and Brayden Sooley; Scott Kirby, and Jack Bursey. Dear sister of Bessie Keats of Bonavista.
