Dr. Fillmore N. Daya

Passed away peacefully at the Health Sciences Center on Sunday, September 15, 2002, Dr. F. N. Daya. Leaving to mourn wife Mary (Piercey); son Roger (Jainin); daughter Nancy; brother Ariosto and sister Amelita in the Phillipines; father-in-law Harry Piercey, Grand Bank; sister-in-law Millicent Coady (Felix), Marystown; also leaving to mourn nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. Resting at Barrett’s Funeral Home, 328 Hamilton Avenue from 7-9 p.m. on Monday and from
2-4 and 7-9 p.m. on Tuesday. Funeral Service 11 a.m. on Wednesday, September 18, 2002 from Barrett’s Chapel. Interment to follow in Mount Pleasant Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations in his memory may be made to the Canadian Diabetes Association or to the Heart and Stroke Foundation.

John James Ducey

Passed peacefully at St. Clare’s Mercy Hospital on October 29, 2002, John James Ducey, aged 69 years.
Leaving to mourn his loving wife Ena Mayo; sons: Terry (Barb) Mayo, Tony (Judy) Mayo, Glen (Patricia) Mayo, John (Denise) Ducey; daughter Tammy (Jim Dawe); 11 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; 2 sisters Philomena at Marystown, Florence (Dick Conway); 2 brothers: Pat and Ren Ducey; brothers-in-law Ches Mayo (Daisy), Frank Mayo (Kay); special friends; Jim Bragg, Roy Critch; nieces, nephews and a large circle of friends. Thank you to the staff at St. Clare’s Hospital.
Resting at Barrett’s Funeral Home, 328 Hamilton Avenue from 2-10 p.m. on Wednesday and from 10 a.m. - 10 p.m. on Thursday. Funeral service 11 a.m. on Friday, November 1, 2002 from Barrett’s Chapel. Cremation to follow. Flowers gratefully accepted or donations in his memory may be made to a charity of one’s choice.

Edith (Eddy) Durdle

Edith (Eddy) Durdle passed peacefully away at the Escasoni Complex on April 4th, 2003 aged 92 years.
Predeceased by her husband Levi in 1974 and granddaughter Jacqueline in 2002. Leaving to mourn her daughter Eleanor (Tom) Miller, Ontario; sons; Bruce, Nova Scotia and Wilbert (Patsy), St. John's; two brothers; Reg Eddy (Louie), Edmund Eddy (Viola), Little Catalina; five grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren and a large circle of nieces, nephews and other relative and friends.
Resting at Barrett's Funeral Home, 328 Hamilton Ave. from 7-10 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m- 10 p.m. Sunday. Funeral Service 2 p.m. Monday, April 7th, 2003 from the Anglican Church of St. Mary the Virgin, Craigmillar Ave. Interment at the Anglican Cemetery, Kenmount Road. Flowers gratefully accepted or donations in her memory may be made to the Hoyles-Escasoni Complex.

Ivy Cox

Ivy Cox passed peacefully away at St. Clare's Mercy Hospital on Tuesday, January 14th, 2003 at the age of 89 years.
Leaving to mourn with fond and precious memories are her son Norman and daughter Loretta; special granddaughter Alicia; sisters in law; Gert Pittman and Violet Ruby; nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. Very special friends Katherine Abbott and Cathy Slade.
Resting at Barrett's Funeral Home, 328 Hamilton Ave. from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday. Funeral Service 2 p.m. Friday, January 17th, 2003 from Barrett's Chapel. As expressions of sympathy, flowers are gratefully accepted or donations may be made to St. Paul's Anglican Church, Goulds.

Douglas A. Batten

Passed peacefully away at the Escasoni Complex, on May 30th, 2002, after a long illness, Douglas A. Batten. Aged 78 years.
Leaving to mourn his sisters Betty Scott (husband Scottie), their daughter Gloria and granddaughter Kristin; Madge McDonald, Joan Branton and Marg Brocklehurst; brothers Robert (Clara) and Edward of Toronto; special nephew Allen; as well as a number of other nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
At Douglas’s request cremation has taken place. As expressions of sympathy donations in his memory may be made to the Nfld. Heart and Stroke Foundation. Funeral arrangements entrusted to the care of Barrett’s Funeral Home.

Ralph (Allan) Benson

called home to eternal rest on Wednesday, May 22, 2002 (Allan) Ralph Benson of Mount Pearl, NF formerly of Grates Cove, age 49 years.
Leaving to mourn with special, loving and wonderful memories are mother Stella, father Dolph, sisters Suzanne and Barbara, brothers-in-law Keith and Ed, nieces Amanda and Amy and nephew Jordan, as well as numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. Also his former wife Leona, her son Bobby and grandson Isaiah.
Resting at Barrett’s Funeral Home, 1081 Topsail Road, Mount Pearl from 2 p.m. - 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. - 9 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday, from 10 a.m. to 12 Noon, on Monday. Funeral Service at 2 p.m. on Monday, May 27, 2002, from United Pentecostal Church, Park Avenue, Mount Pearl. Interment to follow at Mount Pleasant Cemetery. No flowers by request.

Lloyd James Bishop

Passed peacefully away at the Palliative Care Unit, Leonard A. Miller Centre, on Saturday, September 14th, 2002, Lloyd James Bishop, in his 67th year.
Predeceased by his wife Flora 1978, his mother Emma 1982 and son David 2000.
Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories one daughter Carol Tucker (husband Peter) with whom he resided; two sons William and Tim; two precious grandchildren Tiffany Tucker and Shannon Scott; two sisters Doris Cooney, St. John’s and Ruby Tizzard, Dartmouth, Nova Scotia; very special friend Roy Flemming; as well as a number of other relatives and friends.
Cremation has taken place. Relatives and friends may attend a committal service at the Anglican Cemetery, Kenmount Rd., at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, September 17th, 2002. Donations in his memory may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society. Arrangements entrusted to the care of Barrett’s Funeral Home, 328 Hamilton Avenue.
