PARSONS, Kenneth William Gordon – Passed away suddenly while vacationing in Bradenton, Florida, Kenneth William Gordon Parsons, age 63 years. Leaving to mourn his wife of 39 years, Diane (nee Easterbrook); daughter Jill (Bill) and grandson Jensen; son Mark and fiancee Dana; along with many relatives and friends. Resting at Barrett’s Funeral Home, 328 Hamilton Avenue on Saturday from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m.; on Sunday from 2-4 p.m. Funeral service 2 p.m. on Monday, February 4, 2008, from Wesley United Church with interment to follow at Mount Pleasant Cemetery. REES, Sadie Eunice (Ludlow) – Passed peacefully away on February 1, 2008, Sadie Eunice (Ludlow) Rees of St. John’s, aged 88 years. Predeceased by her husband Frederick Rees (2001); parents: James & Florence Ludlow; brothers: Alvin, Ned, Ern; grandson Andrew Stagg; daughter-in-law Marilyn (Parsons) Rees. Sadie was born in Fogo and attended Memorial University in 1936-37 where she studied to be a teacher. She taught at Howley, Heart’s Content, Bell Island and later at the Janeway Hospital and the Children’s Rehab Centre until her retirement. While working at the Janeway she completed her BA in Special Education. Next to her family her greatest loves were playing bridge, quilting, sewing, knitting, membership in various church groups and generally having fun. Leaving to cherish her memory are her daughters: Diane (Marcus) Collins, Seattle, Cheryl (Fred) Stagg, Stephenville, Janet (Walter) Myrden, Corner Brook, Anna-Clare (Robert) Guest, St. John’s; sons: Alvin (Jan), Scottsdale, AZ and Brian Jeffrey, Bell Island; sisters-in-law: Denise Rees, St. John’s, Enid (Rees) Brown and Doris (Rees) Budgell of Ontario, Nora Ludlow, Sidney, BC; brother-in-law Harold Rees (Marg), Mount Pearl; grandchildren: Collins: Jason (Rene), Jonathon, Christopher; Stagg: Parker (Kim), Trevor (Heidi), Gina (Don Heisz), Marsha (Darwyn Cooke); Myrden: Douglas (Janice), David (Sally), Scott (Jen); Rees: Michael, Stephen, Foy and Marilyn; great-grandchildren: Michael, Alan and Evan Stagg; Wyatt and Jessie Stagg; Julian, Nathan and Bastian Heisz; Tatum Collins; Rebecca and Andrew Myrden; Michelle Rees; and a circle of wonderful friends. Memorial Service to be held at 2 p.m. on Monday, February 4th at St. Augustine’s Church on Westerland Road. Donations in her memory may be made to the Cancer Society or a charity of one’s choice. REID, Aubrey W. – Passed peacefully away at the Interfaith Nursing Home, Carbonear on Saturday, January 26, 2008, Aubrey Reid of Clarenville, aged 92 years. Predeceased by first wife Clara Reid. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories his loving wife Blanche; daughters: Audrey (Carmen “Tim” Jay), Oakville, ON, Lois Harris, Clarenville, Grace (Martin Holmes), Bedford, NS and Joyce (Alvin Moss), Mount Pearl; sons: George, Ottawa, ON and Aubrey Jr. (Lynn), South Africa; sisters: Pearl Pretty, South Dildo and Major Doris Reid, St. John’s; brother James (Gertie), South Dildo; a number of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, family and friends. SQUIRES, Clayton Levi – Passed away after a brief illness on Saturday, January 26, 2008 at the Health Sciences Centre, St. John’s, Clayton Levi Squires aged 62 years, from Flower’s Cove, formerly from St. Philips. Predeceased by his parents Levi and Lillian Squires, brothers Gordon, Ches, Len, and Ern Squires, St. Philips, son Ed Squires, Flower’s Cove. Leaving to mourn wife Joan (Parsons), Flower’s Cove, son Chris (Bella), BC, daughter Ruth Banks (Bob), Corner Brook, and six grandchildren. Sisters Louise Sharpe (Rob) and Irene Halliday (Steve), brothers Ralph Squires, and Cyril Squires (Karen), aunt Winnie Martin (Gerry) . Mother-in-law Susie Parsons, sister-in-law Sylvia Kao, and brother-in-law Dave Parsons. Burial took place in Flower’s Cove on Wednesday, January 30. A memorial service and celebration of his life will be held at St. Philip’s Church on Sunday, February 3 at 2:00 p.m.

VINCENT, Eliza Mary (St. John’s) – Passed peacefully away at the Agnes Pratt Home on Thursday, January 31, 2008. Born at Cape Freels, Bonavista Bay on November 5, 1905, she was the only daughter of John and Keziah Stokes. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by loving husbands Jabez Hann and Isaac Vincent, and brothers: Jacob and Walter. She is the last member of her family. Eliza was a life-long member of the United Church of Canada and the United Church Women. In earlier years she served the Church in various capacities, and while at The Agnes Pratt Home she was active in it’s community life, often leading worship services in the chapel. Leaving to celebrate her life with joyful thanksgiving and cherished memories are her children Rev. Boyd (Maxine), Fredericton, NB, Rose Sutton (Harry), Burgoyne’s Cove, NL, John, Cape Dorset, Nunavut and Phyllis White, Labrador City, as well as nine special grandchildren: Rob and Shelley Vincent, Juanita and Tom Sutton, Corey Vincent, Max, Ross and Tony White, and Janice Green as well as several great-grandchildren, and numerous relatives and friends. Resting at Barrett’s Funeral Home, 328 Hamilton Avenue on Sunday from 7-9 p.m. and then on Monday from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. Funeral service to be held from Barrett’s Chapel on Tuesday, February 5, 2008 at 2 p.m. A reception will follow the service at Barrett’s Reception Lounge. The committal service will follow the reception at Mount Pleasant Cemetery.
BARRETT, Vera Louisa (nee March) – Age 83 years. Passed peacefully away on Monday, December 17, 2007, Vera Louisa Barrett, after a short illness. Predeceased by her four brothers: Ralph O. March (Sophie) of St. John’s, Eric March (Shirley) of Toronto, Lloyd March (Genny) of Old Perlican, Cyril March (Ingrid) of Barrie, Ontario; son-in-law Jim Finlay. Leaving to mourn her daughter Diane Lynne; son Rick John; grandson Richard Finlay; special friend Elizabeth Synard; brother Rene March of Georgetown, Ontario; sister Gene Walcheck; special nieces: Wendy Bursey of Calgary and Linda March of Richmond Hill, Ontario; also a large number of other relatives and friends. BELBIN, Nelson — Passed peacefully away at the A.A. Wilkinson Memorial Hospital, Old Perlican on Saturday Dec. 15, 2007, Nelson Belbin of New Chelsea, age 79 years. Leaving to mourn wife June, New Chelsea, three sons: Bruce, Brampton, ON, Jerry (Sylvia), Clarenville and Danny, North Bay, ON. Two daughters Brenda Belbin, Orillia, ON and Wendy Hipkin (Rick), Brampton ON. Six grandchildren: Kathy Marchildon (Jeff), Jennifer, Jessica, Brian, Brent and Phillip. Two great-grandchildren: Morgan and Madison Marchildon. One brother, Harvey Belbin, Carbonear. Also a large circle of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Resting at Green’s Funeral Home, Winterton. BURRY, Eric – 85 of Valleyfield, passed away peacefully on Sunday, December 16, 2007 at Brookfield Hospital. Predeceased by parents Edward and Caroline (nee Hunt) Burry; brothers: Adam and Edgar; sisters: Lilly Stokes, Gladys Rodgers and Pearl Hoyles and sister-in-law Annabella Burry. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories are wife Mabel (nee King); sons: Clayton (Eva) of St. John’s, Clifford (Jeanette) of North Battlefort, Sask., George (Sheila) of Goulds, John (May) of Goulds and Wilfred of Valleyfield; daughters: Patsy Loder (Boyd) of Mt. Pearl and Carrie Burry (Ali Syed) of St. John’s; fifteen grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren and a large circle of other relatives and friends. Funeral service will take place on Wednesday, December 19 at 11 a.m. from St. Alban’s Anglican Church, Badger’s Quay with Rev. R. Trevors officiating.
