HAWKINS, Lorraine M – Entered into eternal rest surrounded by her family at the Palliative Care Unit, Miller Centre on January 31, 2008, Lorraine Mary Hawkins, of Cape Broyle, in her 58th year. Predeceased by her parents, William (1993) and Hilda (1996); her sisters: Betty Welcher (2000) and Catherine Kenny (2007); brother-in-law Fabian Kenny (2006) . Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories her brothers: Harold (Mary), Mike (Helen) and Vince; her sisters: Bernice (Val O’Keefe), Theresa (Albert Lawlor) and Janet; special nieces: Bonnie (Doug Evely), Robyn Kenny and Ashley Hawkins; special nephews: Roddy Lawlor, Billy Nickerson and Fabian Kenny Jr. Lorraine will be sadly missed by other nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and other family and friends; as well as the residents and staff of Lawlor’s Personal Care Home in the Goulds, where she worked for 10 years. Resting at Ryan’s Funeral Home, Bay Bulls on Friday, February 1st and Saturday, February 2nd from 2 p.m. to 9 p.m.; Sunday, February 3rd from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Funeral service to take place from Immaculate Conception R.C. LEARNING, Phyllis – Passed peacefully away at home on Thursday, January 31, 2008, Phyllis Learning at 86 years of age, in the presence of her family. Phyllis was the last member of George and Clara Lane’s family. Predeceased by her parents; brothers: Kitchener, Jerome, Max, Nelson and Cecil; sisters: Verlie Badger and Amelia Moore. Leaving to mourn her loving husband of 63 years, Bill; three children and eight grandchildren: Jim (Joan), Kristina and Amy, Denise (Wayne Smith), Jennifer, Marc (Bonita) and Adam, Derek (Susan), Derek (Leslie), Jeff and Andrea; also leaving to mourn sister-in-law Pearl Learning and brother-in-law Walter Learning, as well as many nieces, nephews and friends. Special friends Jack and Olga Fardy and family, Ray and Shirley Cole, Noble and Ida Baird. Phyllis and Bill spent 21 years in Gander raising their family before returning to St. John’s in 1967. LITTLEJOHN, Philip Austin – Gone to be with the angels, Philip Austin Littlejohn, retired Metrobus driver, age 72 years, 11 months, passed peacefully away on Wednesday, January 30, 2008 at the Hoyles-Escasoni Complex, in the presence of his loving and devoted family, after a lengthy illness. Predeceased by his son Douglas Dominic in 1969 and parents, Thomas and Margaret Littlejohn. Leaving to mourn his loss and cherish his memory are his devoted wife of 48 years, Carmel; five sons: Gerard (Debbie), Terry (Gail), Eugene (Denise), Kingston, Ontario, Tom, Raymond (Michelle); daughter Dolores Fowler (Roger); daughter-in-law Barb; eleven grandchildren; brothers: Thomas (Suzanne), Harold (Dulcie - deceased); sisters: Marge Hammond (Fred), Beatrice Power (Charlie), Montreal, PQ and Agnes Ryan (Phonse), St. John’s; sister-in-law Dolores Stapleton (George); as well as many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Resting at Caul’s Funeral Home, LeMarchant Road. Visitation Thursday and Friday from 2 p.m. - 5 p.m. and 7 p.m. - 9 p.m. Funeral Mass to celebrate his life will be held on Saturday, February 2, 2008 at 11 a.m. from Holy Rosary Parish, Portugal Cove. As was his wish, cremation will follow with inurnment at a later date. McRAE, Jean Farquar – Passed away at the C.H.U.S. Sherbrooke, QC on January 30th, 2008. Youngest daughter of John Thomas and Alice Rosa McRae of Harbour Grace, NL. Survived by a nephew and two nieces. Cremation with ashes interred in the Mount Royal Cemetery, Montreal, QC. A memorial service will be held at a later date. MOORES, Rennie – Passed peacefully way at the Hoyles Escasoni Complex on Wednesday, January 30, 2008, Rennie Moores, aged 82 years. A former employee of Provincial Works Services and Transportation. Predeceased by his parents John and Lydia, sisters: Gladys Ethel, Doris, Drucilla; brothers Richard, Frank, Ernest, Harold, Cyril, Bert and Edgar. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories his long time special friend Doris Chaulk; sister-in-law Rita Moores; brother-in-law Leslie Sullivan; special niece Dorothy Jenkins and close friend Glenda Sullivan; also a large number of nieces and nephews, as well as a large circle of friends. MULLINS, Ambrose – It is with deep regret that the family of Ambrose Walter Mullins, aged 64, announces his sudden passing at his residence on February 01, 2008. Predeceased by his mother and father Mary-Ann (King) and Thomas Mullins. He leaves to mourn his loving wife of 42 years, Gertrude; his son Rodney; daughter-in-law Janine (Bailey) and mother-in-law Myrtle Button. He also leaves to mourn his brother: Thomas (Brenda), William (Shirley) and Lewellan (Toni); his sisters: Sara Burry (Roland), Gertie Donahue (Tom), Martha Sheppard (Edwin), Winnifred Gray (Rocky) and Bonnie Peddle (Eugene) . Ambrose will be sadly missed by his sister-in-law Dinah Blackwood and a large number of nieces and nephews including close family friends Monica and Jeff Vaters and their children: Kelsey, Zachary and Holly. A large number of friends and co-workers are also saddened by his passing. NORRIS, Janet Elizabeth (nee Drysdale) – Born in St. John’s, Newfoundland, 21st October 1933; departed this life 19th January 2008 at Weston Hospice Care Weston Super Mare at the age of 74. Sadly missed by husband Don. After 51 years together and the immediate family of Paul, Andrew and Amanda, Don Neil, and grandson Christopher, also the wider family here in St. John’s, Virginia (sister-in-law), Peter and Margaret, Alistair, Valerie and Judy in South Korea. A celebration for the life of dear Janet will take place at Christ Church Weston Super Mare (website: www.ccwsm.org.uk), England on Friday 1st February followed by cremation. No flowers please, but donations towards the fine work of Weston Hospice Care may be sent to D. Norris at 13a Uphill Road North, Weston Super Mare BS23 4NE UK. A tree will be planted for Janet at Cabot Tower, Bristol, England with her ashes scattered around it, and a bench seat with memorial plate suitably inscribed to link her to her place of birth.
O’BRIEN, Gus – Passed away on Wednesday, January 30, 2008 at the Carbonear General Hospital, age 67 years. Predeceased by his sister Margaret and brother Paddy.
