DWYER, Eileen Bridget (nee Nugent) - Aged 89 years. Passed peacefully away on Saturday, January 25, 2003 at St. Patrick`s Mercy Home, surrounded by her precious family, of Kelligrews. She was predeceased by her husband, Patrick J. Dwyer (1957), her eldest grandson, Patrick A. Dwyer (2000) and all her brothers and sisters. She leaves to mourn her sons Roy (Mable), Patrick (Ferne); daughter Rosalene Lewis (Dan). She will be lovingly remembered by her special granddaughter Colleen Stockley (Rod) and other grandchildren Carolyn Dwyer, Cynthia Dwyer, Sean Dwyer (Cathy), Eileen Thorne (Philip) and Patrick M. Dwyer (Kim); precious great-grandchildren Nicole, Jennifer and Amanda Stockley and Sarah and Patrick Dwyer (P.J.). Also other nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Resting at the James J. Hickey Memorial Funeral Home, Kelligrews, on Sunday and Monday from 10 a.m.-12 noon, 2-4 p.m., and 7-9 p.m. Funeral mass on Tuesday, January 28 at 1:30 p.m. from St. Edward`s Church, Kelligrews, with burial at St. Edward`s cemetery, Kelligrews. CLARKE, William James (Jim) - Second World War veteran, 59th Heavy Artillery Regiment (#971622), retired CNR policeman. passed away after a courageous battle with cancer on January 24, 2003. Predeceased by infant son Richard, parents James and Martha Clarke, brother Fred and sister Helen Samson. Leaving to mourn loving wife of 53 years, Audrey (Curlew); son John (Debbie Fry) of St. John`s; daughters: Linda Boehner (Robert) of Dartmouth, Nova Scotia, Melanie Stanley (Paul) of Mount Pearl, Janice Langille (Andrew) of Trepassey. Also two brothers: David (Sandra) and Frank (Beatrice), both of Carbonear; brother-in-law Ed Samson of Carbonear, as well as his grandchildren: Vanessa Boehner, Rebecca and Tim Stanley, Lesley and Matt Clarke, Courtney and Kyle Langille and a large circle of relatives and friends. HACKETT, William Joseph - Passed peacefully away at the Health Sciences Centre, St. John`s on May 20, 2002, Mr. William Joseph Hackett of Terrenceville in his 57th year. Predeceased by his parents, Joseph and Alice Hackett. Leaving to mourn brothers: John (wife Irene) and Calvin (wife Diane) all of Terrenceville; sister Joyce (husband Wally Norman) of Grand Falls-Windsor; nephews: Christopher and Colin Hackett; nieces: Elizabeth Parrott, Amanda Hackett and Marjorie Norman; also a large circle of relatives and friends. Funeral services were conducted by Fr. Jeff Kolonel at St. Joseph`s Roman Catholic Church, Terrenceville on May 24, 2002 at 2:00 p.m. Interment in the Roman Catholic cemetery, Terrenceville. BYRNE, Bernard Joseph - Passed peacefully away in the presence of some family members at the Health Sciences Centre on Friday, January 24, 2003. He was predeceased by his parents William and Bridget, and grandson Michael. Leaving to mourn his loving wife Laura of 57 years. and children Maude (Frank), Madonna (Edward), Antonia, Donald (Ida), Victor (Lucy), George (Alice), Kevin (Donna), Bernard (Gertie), Barry (Bertha), Jacinta (Richard), Goretti (Gary), Terry, Jude (Delight), Millicent (Bernie), Andrew (Karen), William (brother Bill). He will also be remembered and sadly missed by 35 grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, and numerous friends and relatives. He will be resting at Sacred Heart Parish Church in Conche. HAYES, Gladys (Guest) - 85. Mrs. Gladys (Guest) Hayes of Stoneham, MA, formerly of Melrose, died Thursday in a local nursing home after a lengthy illness. Born January 17, 1917, in St. John`s, Newfoundland, CN, daughter of the late Robert and Elizabeth (Cobb) Guest. She came to the United States in 1948 and resided in Melrose for several years before moving to Stoneham in 1989. She worked as a Stitcher for the former Copley Shoe Company and the Evans Shoe Company for several years until her retirement. She previously worked as a Nurses Aide at the Greenview Manor in Wakefield. Wife of the late James J. Hayes. Mother of Jane E. Dowd and her husband James of Woburn, Edward Hayes and his wife Sue Anne of Stoneham, Gerald J. Hayes and his wife, Diane of Rye, NY, Patricia McCarthy of Winchester and the late James E. Hayes and Denis M. Hayes. Sister of Dulcie May Saunders of New Brunswick, CN, and Frederick Guest and his wife Jane of St. John`s, Newfoundland, CN, and the late Laura Crane, Violet Thistle, Herbert Guest, Robert Guest, Evelyn March, George Guest, Alma Carter, Elizabeth Guest and Gordon Guest. Grandmother of Michael Dowd, Christopher, David, Erin, Thomas and Cara Hayes, Justin and Danielle McCarthy and the late John Dowd. Sister-in-law of Jean Guest of St. John`s, Newfoundland, Catherine Page, and Michael Hayes and his wife, Mary, all of Tucson, AZ. Also survived by many nieces and nephews.
