BASTOW, David Alan - passed away after a brief illness on Sunday, August 3, 2003 at St. Clare`s Hospital, David Bastow, aged 77. Youngest son of the late Hugh Alan and Mabel Bastow. Predeceased by his beloved wife Susannah (Parsons) and by his brother Gerald H. Beloved father of Andrea (Nevin Sivers) Bracebridge, Ontario and Philip (Janice) of Toronto, and loving grandfather to Mark Bastow. Also leaving to mourn two sisters: Ruth Miller (Herb) and Eileen Martin (Graham); two brothers: Gordon J. (Mardi) and Douglas (Elizabeth); cherished friend of both his late wife and David, Phyllis Hamlyn (Moncton); and by many nieces and nephews throughout the province and nation. David touched many people with whom he sang including The Anglican Cathedral Choir, The St. John`s Choir, The Cathedral Echoes Choir, The Wesley Men`s Choir and many other informal groups throughout his life. We wish to extend our gratitude to the caring staff at St. Clare`s Hospital and the Leonard A. Miller Center and Dr. Al Felix for his care. Resting at Carnell`s Funeral Home, 329 Freshwater Road on Tuesday and Wednesday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral service will be held at St. Augustine`s Anglican Church on Thursday, August 7, 2003 at 2 p.m. with interment to follow at the Anglican cemetery, Kenmount Road. In memory of David Bastow, donations may be made to the Leonard A. Miller Center in care of the Health Care Foundation. 'Smiling, Caring, Singing A Gentleman - Our Father.'

LANGILLE, Gerald Dexter - Passed peacefully away at the Palliative Care Unit, St. Clare`s Mercy Hospital on Wednesday, May 29, 2002, Gerald Dexter Langille of 1 Sheffield Place, formerly of 3 Tunis Court, aged 39 years. Predeceased by his father, Frank R. Langille. Leaving to mourn his mother Stella Langille; brothers: Dennis (Alice), Ronald (Brenda), Bob (Adele), Irvin (Brenda), Glenn (Sandy), Frank (Elizabeth), Craig (Donna), Darren (Andrea); sisters: Linda (David Rowe), Marlene (Wayne Taylor), Irene (Wayne Marche); as well as several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Resting at Barrett`s Funeral Home, 328 Hamilton Avenue from 7-9 p.m. on Thursday, and from 10 a.m. - 9 p.m. on Friday. Funeral Service 11 a.m. on Saturday, June 1, 2002 from St. Thomas Anglican Church. Cremation to follow. In lieu of flowers donations in his memory may be made to St. Thomas Anglican Church. The Langille family would like to express special thanks to Gerald`s respite workers, Alice and Doris, and would also like to thank the doctor`s and nurses of 4NA at the Health Sciences Complex and Palliative Care Unit at St. Clare`s Hospital, as well as Father Courage and Rev. SPRINGER, Mary L. (nee Connolly) - Passed peacefully away after a brief illness on April 10, 2001 in Ellsworth, Maine, aged 75 yrs. Predeceased by her beloved husband Robert in 1970. Born Sept. 28, 1925 in Trinity East to Peter J. and Mary (Costello) Connolly, Mary was a former graduate of Littledale College and MUN and went on to teach in several Nfld. communities. In 1955 she went to work for the U.S. Govt. at Harmon Air Force Base in Stephenville where she met and married Robert. She was also a member of the service organization Beta Sigma Phi. After retirement they moved to Maine. Mary was very proud of her Newfoundland heritage and every summer would faithfully travel back to her adored cabin in Flat Bay where she enjoyed many hours of salmon fishing. Later, she purchased a summer home in Brigus to be near her brother Frank and his wife Phoebe. Mary was a devoted and active member of St. Joseph`s Catholic Church and the Catholic Golden Age Group. Her church and the church family were a very important part of her life. Survived by her son Michael (wife Kerry); two brothers: Ted (Marg) Grand Falls and Patrick (Agnes) New York; five sisters: Margaret Byrne (James), Joan O`Reilly (Tom), Geraldine Haring, Maureen Whalen (Raymond) all of St. John`s and Madeline Insalaco, Newburyport, MA; three sisters-in-law: Hilda (St. John`s), Alice (Topsail), and a very special sister-in-law, Phoebe (Brigus) plus many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by three brothers William, Gerald and Frank. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10 am Monday, April 16, at St. Joseph`s Catholic Church, Ellsworth, Maine. Those who desire may make contributions in Mary`s memory to St. Joseph`s Catholic Church, Endowment Fund, 231 Main St., Ellsworth, Maine, 04605.

Left with fond and loving memories, wife Theresa (nee Gosse); children: Mary, James (Linda), Margaret, Debbie, Brenda (Richard Spurrell); grandchildren: Leslie Ann, Ann Marie, Brenda Lee, Travis, Clyde, Daniel and Liam; great-grandchildren: Brent, Jasmine, Amber; brother George; sisters: Bernice and Mary (London, Ontario); also many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. ORSER, Weldon Harold (Buck) - passed away at the Palliative Care Unit, St. Clare`s Mercy Hospital on Wednesday, May 29, 2002, amongst family and friends, following a courageous two year battle with colon cancer, Weldon 'Buck' Orser, age 60 years. Although he was originally from Hartland, NB, he was a Newfoundlander at heart. He served with the RCMP in NF & Lab. for 27 years and with the government for 12 years. He is predeceased by his mother Gladys; father Harold; step-mother Ruby and several aunts and uncles. Leaving to mourn his wife of 36 years Geraldine; son Chris; daughter Carrie Lynn Williams (husband Michael); two granddaughters: Karly and Madison Williams; mother-in-law Marion Stokoe; sisters-in-law: Gail Lee (Ken) and Ann Smith; aunts: Ruby Dickinson and Ruth Hare (Clifton); cousins: Robert Dickinson (Gloria) and Joyce Estabrooks (Jerry); step-sisters: Susan Grant (Tom) and Ann Morgan (Eric). Also leaving to mourn a large circle of friends and work colleagues across Canada. He will be sadly missed by all who knew him. Buck is resting at Carnell`s Funeral Home, 329 Freshwater Road on Thursday, May 30 and Friday, May 31 from 1- 4 and 7- 10 p.m. Funeral service will be held at the United Church, Portugal Cove on Saturday, June 1, 2002 at 2 p.m. with interment to follow at United Church cemetery, Bauline Line. Flowers gratefully accepted or donations in Buck`s memory may be made to the Children`s Wish Foundation or the Canadian Cancer Society.

Leaving to mourn only daughter Judy Newhook; son-in-law Alf; loving granddaughters: Paula Newhook and Stephanie Hefner (Doug); the joy of her life, twin great-grandsons Brett and Ashton Hefner; brothers: Albert Halliday (Dot), Joe Halliday; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and friends, especially those at Maplewood Apartments and Bayview Heights Manor. She was a lifetime member of the LOBA, Crystal Chapter and the Rebekkas. Honorary member of the Grand Lodge of Canada. Resting at Barrett`s Funeral Home, 328 Hamilton Avenue from 7-10 p.m. Thursday, and from 10 a.m. on Friday. Fraternal Service to be held at 7 p.m. Friday at Barrett`s Funeral Home. Predeceased by his parents Harry and Bertha; brothers: Albert and Adam. Leaving to mourn his wife Marguerite; daughter Trudy; son Andrew; sisters: Edith Newman (John), Hazel Campbell (Max) and Rhoda Fillier; brothers: Norm (Matilda), Peter (Alma) and Sam (Emma); sister-in-law Virtue, Wilmore and Cora Coole; and a large circle of nephews, nieces, relatives and friends. Resting at Barrett`s Funeral Home, 328 Hamilton Ave. on Tuesday from 12 noon- 5 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. and on Wednesday from 10 a.m. - 12 noon. Funeral Service 2 p.m. Wednesday, January 29, 2003 from the Bethesda Pentecostal Church, MacDonald Drive. Interment to follow at Mount Pleasant cemetery. Resting at Barrett`s Funeral Home, 328 Hamilton Avenue, from 7-9 p.m. on Wednesday and from 10 a.m. - 12 noon, 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. on Thursday. WHITE, Nathaniel - Surrounded by the love of his family, and the angels from heaven above, Nathaniel E. (Nath) age 74 of Torbay, after a courageous battle with cancer, went to join his son James who predeceased him on November 24, 2002. Also predeceased by his parents Henry and Emma White, brothers Richard, Stanley, and Henry Jr. Left with cherished memories his loving and devoted wife of 50 years Flo (Seward), his son Barrie (Carol), daughter Roxane Waterman (Paul) and daughter-in-law Sue. Also leaving to mourn are his grandchildren Gina Budgell (Todd), Natalie White, Dawn White (fiance Fred Rose), Ross (Wanda), Steven, Matthew, and Ryan White and Kory and Aaron Waterman. His great-grandchildren Madison, and Brett Budgell, Luke Chatman, Kennedy and Riley Rose, Noah White. Also leaving to mourn his brother Arthur White, sister Pearl Codner, sisters-in-law Josephine White, Mary White, Velma Rodgers, Myrtis Champlin (Fred), Elsie Green (Gary), Joan Pike (Wayne) brother-in-law Wilson Seward (Marion), mother-in-law Phoebe Seward and a special nephew Eric White as well as many other relatives and friends. Resting at Caul`s Funeral Home, Torbay Monday and Tuesday from 10 a.m.-10 p.m. Funeral service to take place on Wednesday, August 6, 2003, at 11 a.m. from St. Nicholas` Anglican Church, Torbay. Leaving to mourn are his daughters: Michelle Jackie, St. John`s, Gwen (son-in-law Roy Rideout), Goulds, Marian, St. John`s; sons: Norman and Dennis, Witless Bay; four grandchildren: Gillian and Noah Rideout, Amy and Meaghan White; four brothers: Harold, Gander, Phillip (Bealuh), Hamilton, Ont.; Vince, Fredericton, N.B., Francis, Happy Valley, Lab.; and one sister Florence, Happy Valley, Lab. Also leaving a large number of nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends. A special thank you to the nursing and medical staff of 3NA - Miller Centre for their care and support.
