Joseph Daniel Felix (D.F.) Doucette, 72, of 3567 Emerald St., New Waterford, died Saturday, Jan. 29, 2000, at the home of his son Joseph and daughter-in-law Cheryl.
He is survived by his daughter, Dorothy (Richard) Blanchard, Grand Cache, Alta.
Henry Edward (Heny) George
77, Dominion
Heny George, 77, of 33 Villa Nova, Dominion, passed away peacefully Monday, Jan. 31, 2000, at the Glace Bay Health Care Complex.
Born in Glace Bay, he was a son of the late Michael and Catherine (Stone) George. He was a member of Immaculate Conception Parish, Bridgeport.
A veteran of the Second World War, Henry served with the Cape Breton Highlanders in Italy and Holland. He was a member of Branch No. 3 Royal Canadian Legion, Glace Bay; a member of Row Street Athletic Club and past-president of the Cape Breton Highlanders Association – and active in their annual reunion. He was employed with the Dominion Coal Company in No. 20 Colliery until his retirement.
He is survived by his wife, the former Betty McInnis; daughters, Debby (David) Muise, Sydney, Isabelle (Bernie) Petrie, Glace Bay, Nancy (Fred) Boutilier, Dominion and son, Todd (Patricia Peori), Dominion; brothers, Michael and Dan, both of Ontario, David, Glace Bay; sisters, Stella, Newfoundland, Isabelle, Kathleen and Bertha, all of Ontario; grandchildren, Tammy, B.J. and Ryan Petrie, Eric, Allen and Charles Boutilier and Ashley George and a great-granddaughter, Rebecca Petrie.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by a son, Bruce George and by two brothers, William and Malcolm.
Visitation will be in Curry Funeral Home, 775 Main St., Glace Bay 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. today (Tuesday). Mass of Resurrection will be celebrated Wednesday 11 a.m. in Immaculate Conception Church with Rev. Jim Oliver officiating. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery.
Donations in Heny’s memory may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or to a charity of choice.

Capt. Jim MacDonald
Sydney
Capt. James Fraser MacDonald, 62, a life-long resident of Ashby, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney, on Monday, Jan. 31, 2000.
Born in Sydney, he was the son of the late Kenneth James and Evelyn Mae (Michaud) MacDonald.
He was a member of St. Theresa’s Parish, Sydney. Jim was very active in the Ashby Branch No. 138 Royal Canadian Legion, serving as an executive member for several years.
He retired as a captain from the Sydney Fire Department having worked throughout the stations for 34 years, particularly the Ashby station.
Jim was also a gifted artist who contributed much to the business signage in the Sydney area.
All who knew Jim, knew him to be a loving husband, father and grandfather and loyal co-worker.
Surviving are his wife of 40 years, the former Nelgah Musgrave; two daughters, Evelyn (Earl) Reid, Sydney and Kelli MacDonald, (fiancé Harvey Ellsworth), Sydney; one son, K.J. (Gabriela) MacDonald, Sydney.; three grandchildren, Robert, Mark and Jennifer Reid; one sister, Peggy (Fred) Bryden, Marion Bridge. Also surviving are several nieces, nephews and cousins; his aunt and Godmother, Mary McKay; two Godchildren, Noreen Farrell and Norma Matheson; his aunts, Helen Campbell and Marguerite MacDonald.
The late Mr. MacDonald will have visitation at T.W. Curry Parkview Chapel, Tuesday 2-4, 7-9 p.m. Funeral mass will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday in St. Theresa’s Church with Rev. A. MacDougall officiating. Interment in Resurrection Cemetery, Sydney Forks.
Donations may be to the Royal Canadian Legion Poppy Fund, Branch No. 138, the Lodge that Gives, South Street, Halifax or to a charity of choice.
George MacGibbon
76, New Waterford
George MacGibbon, 76, of 3200 Rear Plummer Ave., New Waterford, passed away Monday, Jan. 31, 2000, in the Taigh Na Mara, Glace Bay.
Born in Mira, he was a son of the late Malcolm and Effie (MacKeigan) MacGibbon.
Mr. MacGibbon was a member of Calvin United Church. He was a veteran of the Second World War, serving in the Provost Corp. He was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch No. 15, New Waterford.
He is survived by his wife, the former Rita MacNeil; three daughters, Ruby, New Waterford, Nancy (Mrs. Leo Quilty), New Minas and Melinda (Mrs. Joe Eldridge), Dartmouth; three sons, David (Judy), New Victoria, Ray, Dartmouth and Ronnie, Halifax; two brothers, Dave, New Waterford and Gussie, Brampton, Ont.; nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by two brothers, Heck and Bill.
Visitation for the late Mr. MacGibbon will be held in the McLellan Brothers Funeral Home, 3183 Plummer Ave., New Waterford, Wednesday 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. The remains will be transferred to Calvin United Church Thursday at noon for visitation until the time of the funeral service at 2 p.m. with Rev. Duncan Roach officiating. Burial in the Union Grove Cemetery.
Margaret Helena Practico
75, Sydney
Margaret Helena Pratico, 75, of the Esplanade, Sydney, passed away Monday, Jan. 31, 2000, at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney.
Born in Sydney, she was the daughter of the late John and Mary (Hannon) Hawco.
She is survived by two daughters, Jo-Ann MacNeil and Noella (Brian) Fitzgerald, both of Sydney; three sons, Patrick, New Brunswick, Richard, Alberta and John, Glace Bay; three sisters, Mary Mintus, Sydney, Kathleen (Mrs. Donnie Morrison), Sydney and Yvonne (Mrs. Dave Stewart), Mississauga, Ont.; two brothers, Ron and Edward, both of Sydney; 10 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by a sister, Stella, three brothers, Bernard, John and Patrick.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. in Sydney Memorial Chapel. Funeral mass will be held Thursday, 11 a.m. at Holy Redeemer Church with Fr. Errol MacDonald officiating. Burial in Resurrection Cemetery.
William (Billy) Wilson
68, Port Morien
Billy Wilson, 68, of Taigh Na Mara and formerly of Port Morien, passed away Sunday, Jan. 30, 2000, at the Glace Bay Health Care Complex.
Born in Donkin, he was a son of the late Jack and Alice (Fleet) Wilson.
He is survived by a sister, Judy MacDonald, Port Morien; nephew, Billy (Kim) Fleet, Glace Bay; sisters-in-law, Betty, Ontario, Anita, Sydney River and Greta, Glace Bay. He is also survived by a number of nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, Billy was predeceased by brothers, Gordon, Matthew, Lloyd, Arthur and Watson.
Visitation will be in Curry Funeral Home, 775 Main St., Glace Bay today (Tuesday) 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral will be Wednesday, 2 p.m. in St. Paul’s Church, Port Morien with Rev. Paul Findlay officiating. Burial will follow in St. Paul’s Anglican Cemetery, Black Brook.
