Yvonne Paule Meaney

Yvonne Paule Meaney, 91, formerly of Grand Lake Road, Sydney, passed away on Sunday, Feb. 13, 2000, in Halifax.
Visitation for the late Mrs. Meaney will be held at T.W. Curry Parkview Chapel today (Tuesday) from 2-4, 7-9 p.m. Funeral mass will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. in St. Augustine’s Church with Rev. J. Attwood officiating. Burial to follow at St. Theresa’s Cemetery, Sydney.
Thomas Edwin Barlow
East Lake Ainslie
Thomas Edwin Barlow, 59, of East Lake Ainslie, died Monday, Feb. 14, 2000, at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney.
Born at Saint John, N.B., he was the son of the late Thomas Edwin Sr. and Mary Catherine (Hickey) Barlow.
He was a member of St. Joseph’s Parish, South West Margaree. He was a retired staff sergeant with the RCMP. He served with the Musical Ride and was stationed in Inverness, Halifax, New Glasgow, Digby, Yarmouth and Sydney, over the course of a 36-year career. He was awarded a Queen’s Jubilee Medal and a RCMP Long Service Medal. He was a member of the RCMP Veteran’s Association and the Lake Ainslie Volunteer Fire Department.
Surviving are his wife, the former Cornelia (Connie) McDonald; two daughters, Elizabeth, St. Albans, Nfld. and Janet, Halifax; two sons, David, Halifax and Craig, New Zealand; two sisters, Charlene Amirault, Summerville, N.B. and Fran Dacey, Oakville, Ont. and a brother, Rick, London, Ont.
The late Mr. Barlow will rest at his residence in East Lake Ainslie with visitation 7-9 p.m. Thursday and 2-4, 7-9 p.m. Friday. Funeral mass will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday in St. Joseph’s Church, South West Margaree with the Rev. Martin MacDougall officiating. Interment in the parish cemetery under the direction of Inverness Funeral Home.

Uldeen Bryne, RN
58, Bridgeport
Uldeen Veronica Byrne, RN, 58, of 33 Station St., Bridgeport, passed away Tuesday, Feb. 15, 2000, at the Glace Bay Health Care Complex.
Born in Glace Bay, she was the daughter of the late George and Gladys (Pettipas) Mombourquette.
Uldeen was a member of Immaculate Conception Church, Bridgeport. She graduated from St. Joseph’s School of Nursing, Glace Bay in 1961. She worked one year in St. Joseph’s Hospital. She loved music bowling and playing cards.
She is survived by her husband, Michael; three sons, Michael (Raylene), Dominion, Darryl (Susan), New Waterford, Glen (Lorna), Glace Bay; three daughters, Darlene, Glace Bay, Shauna (Chris), Sydney, Priscilla (Darrell), Glace Bay; brother, Orville (Eva) Mombourquette, Sheet Harbour; seven loving grandchildren, Tyler, Victoria, Nadine, Erica, Tristan, Madison, Alana; also several nieces and nephews.
Uldeen was predeceased by a brother and sister in infancy.
Visitation will take place today (Wednesday) from 7-9 p.m. and Thursday 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, 16 Reserve St., Glace Bay. Funeral mass will be celebrated Friday, 11 a.m. in Immaculate Conception Church, Bridgeport with Fr. Jim Oliver officiating. Burial in the parish cemetery.
Margaret Ann Crocker
100, Port Maitland, Yarmouth Co.
Margaret Ann Crocker, 100, Port Maitland, Yarmouth County, passed away on Wednesday, Feb. 9, 2000, in Yarmouth Regional Hospital.
Born in Marion Bridge, she was the daughter of the late Donald L. (Dan L.) and Mary Ann (MacMillan) MacLean.
She was a member of Beacon United Church, Yarmouth.
She is survived by her daughters, Elizabeth Spencer, Timberlea, Halifax County, Patricia Becker, Cape Elizabeth, Me., Jo-Anne Cruddas, Port Maitland; son, Donald, Port Maitland; eight grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandson, and long time caregiver and friend, Margaret Fearon.
Also surviving are nieces, Marilyn (Fred) Watkins, Wellington, Yarmouth County, Sheila (Rev. Jackie) MacDonald, Coxheath; nephews, Fraser (Paulette) MacDonald, Digby, Rev. James A. (Gwen) MacDonald, Saint John, and Rev. Ian K. (Virginia) MacDonald, Fredericton.
She was predeceased by her husband, Clifford, sons, Paul and Clifford and granddaughter, Jill Cruddas, three sisters, Effie MacDonald, Hughena Smith, and Alexandra MacLean and two brothers in infancy.
Memorial service will be held Friday, Feb. 18, 2000, at 2 p.m. in Sweeny’s Funeral Home Chapel, Yarmouth with Rev. Don Moses officiating.
Interment in Port Maitland Cemetery at a later date.
Memorial donations may be made to a charity of choice.
Helen MacIntosh
89, Port Morien
Helen MacIntosh, 89, of Long Beach Road, Port Morien, died Monday, Feb. 14, 2000, at her residence.
Born in Sydney, she was the daughter of the late Murdock and Catherine (MacDonald) MacGregor.
Helen was a 1933 graduate of Sydney City Hospital School of Nursing, she was an adherent of St. John’s United Church, Port Morien.
Helen is survived by daughter, Joyce and son-in-law George Holden, Port Caledonia; son, Jon and daughter-in-law Edith, Long Beach; grandchildren, Marilyn (Allister) Edwards, Port Caledonia, Stephen MacIntosh, Long Beach, David (Wendy) MacIntosh, Long Beach; four great-grandchildren, Sean and Stephen Edwards, Scott and Jenna MacIntosh.
She was predeceased by her husband, Alex in 1992, sisters, Catherine Fawcett, Jean Carlin and Willetta MacGrath.
There will be no visitation. Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held 2 p.m. Friday, Feb. 18, 2000, at Patten Funeral Home Chapel, 71 Union St., Glace Bay, with the Rev. Jim Chisholm officiating. Interment will be in Hardwood Hill Cemetery at a later date.
Memorials may be made to St. John’s United Church or to a charity of choice.
Emile J. (George) Sautiere
72, Sydney
Emile Joseph (George) Sautiere, 72, of Havelock Street, Sydney, passed away Saturday, Feb. 12, 2000, at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney.
Born in France, he was a son of the late Leon and Daisy (Caffiers) Sautiere.
George was retired from Canada Post. He was a veteran of the Second World War and the Korean War, and a life member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 12, Sydney.
George is survived by his two sons, Paul and Douglas; sister, Daisy (Charles) MacDonald, Munroe, North Carolina; brother, Leon Francois (Genevieve), Saint John, N.B.; stepdaughter, Diane; nephew, Edward, Halifax; aunt, Mrs. Deans Caffiers; several cousins and a special friend, Betty Rudderham, Sydney.
He was predeceased by his wife, Elizabeth (Betty) Rose.
There will be no visitation, cremation has taken place under the direction of Sydney Memorial Chapel.
Memorials may be made to the C.B. District Veterans Hospital Comfort Fund.
