Shelia Elaine Ford, 60, 19 R Atlantic St., Glace Bay, died Tuesday, Jan. 11, 2000, at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney.
Born in Glace Bay, she was a daughter of the late Thomas B. and Eileen (Arsenault) Simmons.
She was a member of Holy Cross Parish.
She is survived by her husband, Jim Ford; daughter, Lisa, Glace Bay; son, James, at home; three grandchildren, Tiffany, Danielle and Dylan; four brothers, George, Louisdale, Allie (Belle), Leo (Karen), both of Glace Bay; Leonard (Myrna), Port Hawkesbury; sister, Diane (Mrs. Bernard MacRury), Glace Bay.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by a brother, Roy (Skin).
Visitation was held in Curry Funeral Home Ltd., 775 Main St., Glace Bay, Wednesday 7-9 p.m. and will be held today (Thursday), 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Mass of Resurrection will be celebrated in Holy Cross Church, Glace Bay, Friday at 11 a.m. with Rev. John Graham officiating. Burial will be in the parish cemetery.

Helen Kathleen Herald
78, Point Edward
Helen Kathleen Herald, Shore Road, Point Edward, passed away at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney, Wednesday, Jan. 12, 2000.
Born in Point Edward, Helen was a daughter of the late Richard and Susan (Rose) Rudderham. She was a member of St. John’s Anglican Church.
Helen is survived by her son, Stuart (Barbara), Point Edward; sister, Inez Best, Halifax; three brothers, George and Doug, Point Edward and Don, Toronto; four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her husband, Stewart, sisters, Mildred and Irene and brothers, Edward and Albert.
There will be no visitation. Cremation has taken place under the direction of Sydney Memorial Chapel. Funeral service will be held Saturday, 11 a.m. at St. John’s Anglican Church, Point Edward with the Rev. Jim Purchase officiating. Interment will be in St. John’s Cemetery.
Donations may be made to the Diabetes Association.
Helen Frances Wall
83, North Sydney
Helen Frances Wall, 83 of Regent St., North Sydney, died Wednesday, Jan. 12, 2000, at the Northside General Hospital, North Sydney.
Born in Saint John, N.B., she was the daughter of the late William Ernest and Helen Elizabeth (Naylor) Fanjoy.
She was a school teacher working in her earlier years in Gabarus and Little Bras d’Or West and later at Fairview School in North Sydney. She was a member of St. Matthew Wesley United Church, North Sydney and a former president of the Ladies Guild-Ruth Unit.
Surviving are two daughters, Helen, Georges River and Marjorie Allen, Truro; one son, David (Pauline), Dieppe, N.B.; sister, Dorothy Greenidge, Margaree Valley; five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Predeceased by her husband Cecil Wall, two sisters Constance (Connie) and Marjorie Hewson, one brother, William.
Visitation will be 2-4, 7-9 p.m. Thursday in the W.J. Dooley Funeral Home, 107 Pleasant St., North Sydney. Funeral service will be held Friday at 11 a.m. from the Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. David Luker officiating. Burial at Lakeside Cemetery.
Donations may be made to the Canadian Diabetes Association, the Heart and Stroke Foundation, St. Matthew Wesley United Church or a charity of choice.
Kenneth Daniel Fox
55, Louisbourg
Kenneth Daniel Fox, 55, of Louisbourg, passed away Thursday, Jan. 13, 2000, at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney.
He was a life long resident of Louisbourg.
He is survived by his wife, Betty, Louisbourg; his mother, Edith Smith; son, Michael, Toronto; daughter, Deborah, Sydney; his former wife, Anita, Sydney and stepsister, Judy Smith, Halifax.
Predeceased by grandaunt, Bessie MacDonald, granduncles, Hector and William MacInnis.
Visitation will take place Friday, Jan. 14 at First United Church, Main Street, Louisbourg, 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral service will be held Saturday, 2 p.m. from the First United Church with the Rev. Clayton Austin officiating. Interment in Willow Grove Cemetery, Louisbourg.
Arrangements under the direction of W.A. Chant Funeral Home.

John Angus MacLean
84, Sydney
John Angus MacLean, 84, passed away peacefully, Wednesday, Jan. 12, 2000, surrounded by his family, at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney.
A life long resident of 80 French St., Whitney Pier, John was the son of the late John Donald and Elizabeth (MacDonald) MacLean.
John was a member of Holy Redeemer Parish and was employed at Sydney Steel as a machinist for 42 years retiring in 1978.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years, the former Sarah Jane (Jean) MacKinnon and by his five children, twin daughters, Beverly Phillips, Barbara (Mrs. Gerry Mattia), Edmonton, Alta., Ian (Donna), Amherst, Clair Miller, Sydney, Jim (Phyllis), Howie Centre and by nine grandchildren, Shaun (Michelle) MacLean, Jason (Jennifer) MacLean, Shannon (Keith Burden), Gian (Bobby) MacLean, Wayne Miller, Scott and Stephen Phillips, Jennifer and Kara MacLean and four great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his half-sister, Mary MacInnis, Lansing, Mich.
John was predeceased by his half-brothers, Norman, Leo, Danny, half-sister, Josie and stepmother, Mary (Gillis) MacLean.
The late Mr. MacLean will have visitation today (Friday) 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. in the T.W. Curry Parkview Chapel. Funeral mass will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday in Holy Redeemer Church with the Rev. Errol MacDonald officiating. Interment in Resurrection Cemetery.
Paul I. MacLellan
61, North Sydney
Paul I. MacLellan of Rotary Drive, Sydney and formerly of King Street, North Sydney, died suddenly Wednesday, Jan. 12, 2000, at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney.
Born in Sydney Mines, he was a son of the late Ronald D. and Margaret (MacNeil) MacLellan.
He worked as a production supervisor for Clearwater Fisheries, North Sydney. He was a member of St. Joseph’s Church, North Sydney.
Surviving are his wife, the former Pierrette Armond; one stepdaughter, Deneyse (Terry) Johnston, Sydney; four stepsons, John (Margie) Pearson, Sydney, Paul (Holly) Pearson, Red Deer, Alta., Dennis Pearson, Edson, Alta., Bernie Pearson, B.C.; five sisters, Rita (Gaza) Soltesz, Enfield, N.S., Catherine (Hans) Pedersen, Millville, Joan (Dan) Prince, Howie Centre, Sr. Alma MacLellan, CND, Port Felix, N.S., Eldene MacLennan, Millville; one brother, Allan (Mary) MacLellan, Sydney; two sisters-in-law, Irene MacLellan, Bathurst and Theresa Jesty, North Sydney; 11 step-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by one sister, Ann Marie and three brothers, Ronald Joseph, John Joseph and Angus James.
Visitation will be held 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. today (Friday) in W.J. Dooley Funeral Home, 107 Pleasant St., North Sydney. Funeral mass will be held 2 p.m. Saturday from St. Joseph’s Church, North Sydney with the Rev. Tom MacNeil officiating. Burial in St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Sydney Mines.
