Funeral is under the direction of V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, 380 Smith St., New Waterford.

94, Englishtown
Nora Kerr, 94, Englishtown, Victoria County, died Friday, Oct. 6, 2000, in Victoria County Memorial Hospital.
She was a daughter of the late Dan and Dolly (MacLeod) MacAskill.
She was a member of St. Mark's Presbyterian Church, Englishtown.
She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
She is survived by daughter, Joan (Mrs. Everett MacAskill), Englishtown; three nieces, four nephews, two grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her husband, Fraser in 1982, sisters, Mary MacLeod and Catherine Burt, brothers, Jimmy and Duncan, twin sister and brother in infancy.
No visitation by request. Memorial service 2 p.m. Monday, Oct. 9 in St. Mark's Presbyterian Church with Rev. Lloyd Murdock officiating, assisted by Rev. Ritchie Robinson. Burial in Bayview Cemetery, Englishtown.

Margurita Patricia LeDrew
85, Victoria Mines
Margurita Patricia LeDrew, 85, of Victoria Mines, passed away Friday, Oct. 6, 2000, at the New Waterford Consolidated Hospital.
Born in New Victoria, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Mary Ann (MacNeil) White.
She was a member of St. Alphonsus Church, Victoria Mines.
In her earlier years she was employed at many retail establishments including McCurdy's and Eatons and for a time she resided in Boston where she worked at St. Vincent's School of Nursing. In her earlier years she was a very active member of the auxiliary for Maple Hill Manor. Margurita was a resident of Maple Hill Manor only for a short time but the majority of her life was lived in Victoria Mines.
She is survived by one brother, Blaise, Victoria Mines, and many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband, Patrick (Cooper) LeDrew, five brothers, Joe, Bob, Jimmy, Bill and Fraser and a sister, Mary Campbell.
A family visitation will take place, Saturday from 7-9 p.m. in the V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, 380 Smith St., New Waterford. Funeral mass will be celebrated Sunday 2 p.m. in St. Alphonsus Church, Victoria Mines, with Fr. Jake Andrea officiating. Burial in the parish cemetery.
In memory of Margurita, memorial donations may be made to St. Alphonsus Church or a charity of one's choice.
Helen Maureen Anthony
58, Kennetcook
Helen Maureen Anthony, 58, of Kennetcook, Hants Co., died Saturday, Oct. 7, 2000, at home.
Born in New Waterford on Feb. 20, 1942, she was a daughter of the late Grant and Hilda (MacPhee) Campbell. She taught school in various locations throughout Nova Scotia between 1960-72 and substitued in the Kennetcook area after that. She was a life-member of the Catholic Church and also a member of the UCW.
Surviving are her husband, Reginald, daughters, Danielle and Michelle, both at home; sisters, Betty (Louis) Nearning, River Ryan, Mary (Conrad) Morrison, Sydney; brothers, Lionel (Vivienne) Campbell, Ottawa, Ont., Kevin (Frances) Campbell, New Waterford.
Visitation 7-9 p.m. today (Tuesday) in J. Wilson Allen Funeral Home, Hwy. 354, Kennetcook. Funeral service 2 p.m. Wednesday in J. Wilson Funeral Home, Rev. Guthro officiating. Burial in Kennetcook Cemetery, Kennetcook.
Donations to the Canadian Diabetes Association or the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia.
Bertha Bramwell
88, Bridgeport
Bertha Bramwell, 88, of 1250 Main St., Bridgeport, passed away peacefully Monday, Oct. 9, 2000, at the Glace Bay Health Care Complex surrounded by family.
Born in Glace Bay, she was the daughter of the late William Nightingale and Clara (Sheink) Nightingale. She was a member of St. John’s Parish, Glace Bay. She loved to do needlepoint and crochet. She was a loving mother and grandmother.
She is survived by daughters, Ann (Alex) Deveaux, Jean MacDonald, Linda (Tony) Eagles, Beverly (John) Nolan; sons, Bill (Anna) and Wayne, all of Glace Bay; 15 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren. Also surviving are sisters, Violet Campbell, Glace Bay and Kathleen (Allie) Batten, Glace Bay.
She was predeceased by her husband Arthur on Sept. 30, 2000, sister Florence, brothers, Billie, Charles, Albert (Midge), Kit, Paul, Dave, Jack and three grandchildren in infancy.
Visitation will be in V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, 16 Reserve St., Glace Bay, today (Tuesday) from 2-4, 7-9 p.m. Funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday at St. John’s the Baptist Church with Rev. Father Paul McGillivray officiating. Burial in Forest Haven Memorial Gardens.
Donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or the Diabetes Association of Nova Scotia.

Abbie J. Gwynn
104, Norridgewock, Mass.
Abbie J. Gwynn of Norridgewock, Mass., passed away on Friday, Oct. 6, 2000, at the age of 104.
Born in Aspy Bay, Victoria County, N.S. in 1896, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Effie (Morrison) Gwynn. One of 11 children, all of whom predeceased her.
She was employed as a waitress until her retirement at the age of 80. She loved to knit afghans, sweaters, socks and mittens for her numerous nieces and nephews.
She is survived by niece, Edith Harmon and Karen Harmon with whom she resided since 1989 and their families; Phillip (Peggy) Gwynn and family, Fourchu; Jim (Gwen) Gwynn and family; Daniel (Mary) Gwynn and family, Ontario; Melvin (Kathy) Gwynn and family, Ingonish; Robert (Martha) Gwynn and family, South Harbour, Livinia Gibbs and family, Boston, Mass.; Mary Bishop and family, Pleasant Bay; and two special caregivers, Arlene and Laura, who were so good to Aunt Abbie.
Funeral has taken place at McHoul Funeral Home, 354 Adams St., Dorchester, Mass., with Rev. Donald Brickley officiating. Burial in Cedar Grove Cemetery, Dorchester.
