Margaret Isabel MacIntosh
65, St. George's Channel
Margaret Isabel MacIntosh, 65, of St. Georges Channel, Richmond County, died Sunday, Nov. 19, 2000, in the VG Site QEII, Halifax.
Born in Balmoral, Richmond Co., she was the daughter of the late George J. and Marjorie (Digdon) Hill.
She was a retired school teacher, having taught in Richmond County schools for 35 years. She taught in Roberta, South Mountain, Evanston and Louisdale.
She was a member of the Black River United Church, the UCW and was the church organist for many years. She was also a member of the Richmond County Retired Teachers Association.
Surviving are a sister, Florence Jean (Rufus) Black, Oxford; brothers, Everett (Marie) Hill, Black River, John Stanley Hill, Grand Anse, Doug (Monica) Hill, Dartmouth; several nieces and nephews; grandnieces and grandnephews.
She was predeceased by her husband, Ross MacIntosh and a son in infancy.
Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. today (Tuesday) in the Dennis Haverstock Funeral Home, Port Hawkesbury. Funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday, in the Black River United Church with Rev. Keith Adams officiating. Burial in the Black River Cemetery.

Anne Marie Campbell
77, Main-a-Dieu
Anna Marie Campbell, 77, Main-a-Dieu, Cape Breton, passed away peacefully Tuesday, Nov. 21, 2000, at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney, surrounded by her family, after a lengthy illness with cancer.
Born in Glace Bay, she was the daughter of the late James and Nellie (Riley) Gallant.
Anna graduated from Normal College in Truro in 1941 and taught in Little Lorraine, Grand Mira North. She was manager of the Main-a-Dieu Credit Union from 1965-84. She was an active member of her community and a member of Immaculate Conception Church. She was past-president of the Catholic Women’s League in Main-a-Dieu from 1983-85, 1997-99. She also received her Maple Leaf Service Pin. She taught religious education for 15 years.
She is survived by her husband, Wilfred; daughter Maureen, Vancouver; son Michael (Heidi), New Glasgow; two sisters, Mary (Mrs. Dennis Connolly), Kitchener, Ont. and Sr. Sarah Gallant, CSM, Antigonish; two brothers, Gerald Gallant, Little Lorraine and James (Chris), Dartmouth; and five grandchildren, Jessica, Jimmy, Daniel, Evan and Jordan and one great-grandchild, Chance.
She was predeceased by two sisters, Monica and Margaret.
The body will be resting at Immaculate Conception Church, Main-a-Dieu Wednesday from 7-9 p.m. and Thursday from 2-4, 7-9 p.m. Funeral 11 a.m. Friday at Immaculate Conception Church with Rev. Conrad Edwards officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Immaculate Conception Parish Cemetery Fund.
Ora Maude (Eddy) Wentzell
78, Barss Corner
Ora Maud (Eddy) Wentzell, 78, of Barss Corner, Lunenburg County, died Monday, Nov. 20, 2000, in South Shore Regional Hospital, Bridgewater.
Born in Sydney, she was a daughter of the late Joseph and Sarah (Mason) Eddy.
She was instrumental in the creation of the former Retarded Children Association of Lunenburg County. She was an advocate in promoting public awareness on social issues of the mentally and physically challenged children. She was a member of the Barss Corner Baptist Sunday School. Past member Barss Corner Barss Corner Baptist Ladies Auxiliary and past officer of the Barss Corner Ladies Auxiliary and past officer of the Barss Corner Women’s Missionary Society, where she was a mission Band Leader.
Surviving are son, David, at home; brother, Lloyd Eddy, Sydney; sisters, Madeline Davies, Cole Harbour, Ethel Balkeburn, Sydney; several nieces and nephews.
Predeceased by husband, Early Wentzell, sisters, Amy Lowndes, Ruth Eddy, Edith Pyke, infant sister, Evelyn, brothers, Walter, James, Arnold, Ronald and infant brother, Robert.
Visitation was held Wednesday 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral 2 p.m. today (Thursday) in New Germany Funeral Home, 4895 Route 10, New Germany with Rev. Steven Hiltz officiating. Burial in Barss Corner Community Cemetery, Barss Corner.

John Charles (J.C.) MacDonald
60, North River
John Charles (J.C.) MacDonald, 60, of North River, Victoria County, died Thursday, Nov. 23, 2000, at the Victoria County Memorial Hospital.
Born in the family residence, Meadow Road, he was the son of the late Jessie Ann MacDonald and special grandparents, Margaret and Charles MacDonald.
He was a member of St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church, North River.
J.C. worked in Sydney as a meat manager for 17 years; then as captain of the Englishtown Ferry for the past 10 years.
A friend to all, John loved salmon fishing, jogging and playing the guitar.
He is survived by his wife, the former Gayle MacAskill; one son, Timothy MacDonald, Halifax; two daughters, Melody (Donnie) Dauphney, North Shore, Jeanne MacDonald (Murdock), North River; two brothers, Roddie (Josephine) MacDonald, Sydney, John M. (Anna Mae) MacDonald, Baddeck; five sisters, Margie (Bucky) MacLeod, Tarbot, Christine Nicholson, Baddeck, Catherine and Mae Montgomery, North River, Sadie (Murdock) MacLean, Big Baddeck; three grandchildren, Amelia, Ashley and Bryson; two stepdaughters, Rebecca and Melissa and several nieces and nephews.
Besides his mother and grandparents, he was predeceased by his brother, Kenneth.
There will be no visitation by request. A memorial service will be held at the North River Community Hall at 11:30 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 25 with Rev. Robert Reid officiating. A private family burial will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to North Shore Fire Dept. First Responders or the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
John James MacLeod
92, Dingwall
Mr. John James MacLeod, 92, of Dingwall and St. Ann’s, Victoria County, passed away peacefully at Buchanan Memorial Hospital, Neil’s Harbour, Wednesday, Nov. 22, 2000.
Born at St. Ann’s, he was the son of the late Duncan F. and Emma (MacKillop) MacLeod of MacLeod’s Point, St. Ann’s.
He was an avid fisherman, hunter and woodsman, who truly enjoyed the outdoors.
He will be sadly missed by daughter, Emily (Mrs. George Carmichael), Dingwall; and five sons, Bert (Lee), Lower Sackville, Chalmers (Marie), Antigonish, John M. (Wanda), South Haven, Dwight, Sydney, Mark (Linda), Fox Creek, Alta.; his foster brother Edsel, North Carolina, U.S.A.; nephew, Lloyd Carmichael, Belmont, Mass. and six grandchildren.
He was predeceased by his wife, Joan (Decker), daughter, Garnet, sister, Chris (Mrs. Norman Carmichael), two brothers, Lloyd and Alex in infancy.
There will be no visitation by request.
Committal services will be held at a later date in MacLeod Pioneer Cemetery, St. Ann’s, under the direction of Fillmore and Whitman Funeral Home.
