Hazel Maude (Mullins) Jensen
Fredericton Junction
Hazel Maude (Mullins) Jensen, of Fredericton Junction, formerly of Harbour Breton, Nfld., died at the Oromocto Public Hospital, Monday, Jan. 29, 2001, at the age of 81.
Hazel is survived by one daughter, Shirley Vallis (Clayton), Sydney; one sister, Belle Tait, North Sydney; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her parents, Lillian (Evens) and Curtis Mullins, her husband, Jacob Jensen, one son, Harvey Jenson, one sister, Mary Hood, two brothers, Jesse and Walter, and one grandson, Dale Jensen.
Interment will be in Sydney in the spring.

Robert 'Bobby' Stubbert
65, Gardiner Mines
Robert ‘Bobby’ Stubbert, 65, of O’Brien Street, Gardiner Mines, passed away peacefully Wednesday, Jan. 31, 2001, at the New Waterford Consolidated Hospital, surrounded by his loving family.
Born in Gardiner Mines, he was the son of the late Robert and Sophie (Phillips) Stubbert.
Bobby was a member of St. James Church, Gardiner Mines. He was employed with Devco for 34 years working in No. 26 Colliery and retiring from Phalen Colliery. He was a member of Gardiner Mines Pensioners Club. Bobby enjoyed bingo, playing cards and carpentry.
He will be sadly missed by his loving wife of 40 years the former Elizabeth ‘Betty’ Gouthro; daughters, Anna Marie (Paul) Dauphinee, Evelyn (Pat) Dube, both of Fort McMurray, Rose Mary (Dan) Fraser, Halifax, Laura Lee (Darren) Donovan, Fort McMurray and Kendis, at home; sons, Robert (Anne), Fort McMurray, Alex, Toronto, and Steven (Ann Marie), Fort McMurray; brothers, Sonny, Gardiner Mines, Melvin, New Waterford, Ivan (Diane), Ottawa, Stephen, Ontario, George (Hope), Glace Bay, and John, Toronto; sisters, Eileen Whalen, South Bar, Helen (Bernie) Young, Dominion, and Jennie (Jim) Edwards, Blacketts Lake. Also surviving are 12 loving grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation for the late Mr. Stubbert will be held Thursday 7-9 p.m. and Friday 2-4, 7-9 p.m. in V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, 16 Reserve St., Glace Bay. Funeral mass will be celebrated Saturday at 11 a.m. in St. James Church, Gardiner Mines, Fr. Jim Oliver will be officiating. Interment will be in the parish cemetery.
Donations in Bobby’s memory to Palliative Care Society are suggested as an expression of sympathy.
John James Pentecost
64, River Bourgeois
John James Pentecost, 64, River Bourgeois, Richmond Co., died Thursday, Feb. 1, 2001, at home.
Born in Sydney Mines, he was a son of the late James E. and Annie (Briggs) Pentecost.
He was a former employee of the Department of Highways, St. Peterís. A member of St. John the Baptist Parish, River Bourgeois.
He is survived by sisters, Anne (Joseph) Sampson, River Bourgeois, Mary (Douglas) Babineau, Margaret (Bruce) Allen, all of Marion Bridge; brother, Edward (Mary), River Bourgeois.
There will be no visitation. Cremation has taken place. Funeral mass will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 17, from St. John the Baptist Roman Catholic Church with Rev. Sandy MacNeil officiating. Burial will be in St. Josephís Cemetery, Sydney Mines at a later date.

Mary Cecilia Harrietha
63, Point Aconi
Mary Cecilia Harrietha, loving wife of Earl Harrietha, passed away peacefully at the Northside General Hospital surrounded by her devoted husband, daughter and family, Sunday, Feb. 4, 2001, at the age of 63.
Born in Florence, she was the daughter of the late John and Cecilia (Chaisson) Gouthro.
She was a member of St. Joseph’s Parish, Bras d’Or, and was a member of the Bras d’Or Pensioners Club. She was employed with Union Carbide in Ontario for 15 years and served as a home care worker. She was also involved with the Cub Scout and Boy Scout movement for a number of years before retiring to Cape Breton in 1994.
She is survived by her loving husband, Francis Earl; daughter, Theresa (James) Jackson, Ontario; sons, Philip (Kelly), Gordon (Iona), and Kelly (Leeann), all of Ontario; grandchildren, Markus, Donald, Melissa, Wayne, Krystal, William, Jordan, Morgan, and Kain; great-grandchildren, Rebbecca and Jillian; sisters, Mary Elizabeth (Toney) LeBlanc, Mary Olive (Ernest) Noble, Mary Viola (Tom) Chipman, all of Ontario, Annie Mae Bailey, Sydney Mines; brothers, James (Aletha), Aloysius (Patricia), both in Ontario, and John Charles, of Sydney Mines.
He was predeceased by brothers, Louis Gordon, Stephen Louis, John Frances, Alexander, Edward, Joseph and Ambrose; and sisters, Theresa, Bernedette and Julia Mae.
Visitation will be in the Fillmore and Whitman Funeral Home today from 7-9 p.m. and Tuesday from 2-4, 7-9 p.m. Funeral mass will be celebrated Wednesday at10:30 a.m. in St. Joseph Church, Bras d’Or, with Rev. Bedford Doucette officiating. Burial will be in the parish cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Palliative Care Society.
Agnes Alice McDonald
81, Tower Road
Agnes Alice McDonald, 81, of Tower Road, passed away peacefully at the Glace Bay Health Care Complex on Monday, Feb. 5, 2001.
Born in Glace Bay, Jan. 4, 1920, she was the daughter of the late Peter and Matilda (Bonnar) McDonald of Tower Road, she was a lifelong resident of Glace Bay.
Agnes was a member of Knox United Church, Glace Bay. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
Agnes is survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
Predeceased by sister, Elise Jones and brothers, Peter and Percy McDonald.
Visitation for Agnes McDonald will be held Tuesday, Feb. 6 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. in Patten Funeral Home and Chapel, 71 Union St., Glace Bay. Funeral service will be held Wednesday, Feb. 7, 2001 at 11 a.m. from the funeral home chapel with the Rev. David MacLean officiating. Interment will be in Greenwood Cemetery, Glace Bay.

Donald Joseph Googoo Sr., 48, of Waycobah First Nation, died Monday, Feb. 5, 2001, at home.
Born in Baddeck, he was a son of Caroline Bernard and the late Peter Joseph Googoo and also foster parents the late Mr. and Mrs. Michael P. Googoo.
He was a truck driver and heavy equipment operator, legal translator, carpenter, mechanic, seismic engineer. An active member of Holy Trinity Parish, Waycobah.
He is survived by his wife, the former Mary Pauline Marshall; sons, Christopher, Moncton, Donald Joseph Jr., Jeremiah, both at home; daughters, Mary Louise, Donelda and Chelsea, at home; brothers, Henry Googoo, Waycobah, Freeman Francis Googoo, Wagmatcook; foster brothers, William, Truro, Alex, Wagmatcook, Bernie, Waycobah, Stanley, Waycobah; sisters, Barbara, Indian Brook, Betty, Afton, Sharon (John) Lafford, Eskasoni, Sheila, Afton, Eunice, Afton, Nancy, Afton, Fanny Isadore, Wagmatcook, June Marie (Francis) Joe, Eskasoni; foster sisters, Mathilda Pierro, Waycobah, Bridget Marshall, Chapel Island, Mary (Andrew) Bernard, Waycobah, Anna K.
