Joan Barbara Elizabeth Stubbert
59, Morrison Road
Joan Barbara Elizabeth Stubbert, 59, of Morrison Road, passed away Saturday, March 24, 2001 at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital.
Born in Sydney, she was a daughter of the late William and Georgina (Jean Bennett) Dunn.
Joan was employed for several years at Masons Wholesale, Sydney.
She is survived by her husband, Ben; her twin sister, Eleanor Camus, Howie Centre.
She was predeceased by one sister, Marilyn Burnt.
Visitation will be held in Sydney Memorial Chapel Monday (today) 7-9 p.m., Tuesday 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. with a funeral service in the chapel Wednesday 10:30 a.m. with Rev. Jackie MacDonald officiating. Interment in Hardwood Hill Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to charity of choice.

Peter Austin Jessome
Johnson Road
Peter Austin Jessome, 86, of Johnson Road, passed away peacefully, August 18, 2003, at the Northside General Hospital, surrounded by family. Born in Georges River, he was the son of the late Daniel and Magdalene (Harrietha) Jessome. He was a member of St. Joseph’s Parish, Bras d’Or. Peter served in the army from 1941 until 1946 and was then employed by the Bras d’Or Coal Company till the early sixties as a mechanic and later as a machinist and stationary engineer. Peter also worked at Northside Marine Railway and moved to Sydney Engineering and Dry Dock as a machinist fitter until his retirement at age 67. He is survived by his wife, the former Marguerite Kavanaugh and his children, Jackie (Maureen), Londonderry, David (Paula), Georges River, Elaine (Don) Dolinar, North Bay, Ken (Frances), Alberta, Lionel (Evelyn), Big Bras d’Or, Cathy (Graham) Webb, Barrie, James (Nancy), Little Bras d’Or, Donald (Rebecca), Georges River and Danny (Bev), Fall River; 29 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. Also surviving are his two sisters, Edina (Cecil) Finney, Long Island and Mary (Joe) King, Florence. He was predeceased by four brothers, Marshall, Connie, Ray and Michael, three sisters, Johnena (Mrs. A.J. MacDonald), Philomena (Mrs. Maurice Fraser) and Marguerite (Mrs. Alex Gillis). Visitation will be held 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Wednesday at G.R. Francis and Son Funeral Home, Sydney Mines. Funeral mass will be held Thursday, 10:30 a.m. in St. Joseph’s Church, Bras d’Or with Rev. Bedford Doucette officiating. Burial will take place in the parish cemetery. Donations in memory may be made to the Alzheimer Society.

Ted Victor Theodore Trenholm
64, Seal Island
Mr. Ted Victor Theodore Trenholm, 64, of Seal Island, died March 25, 2001 at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital.
Born in Boularderie, he was the son of the late James W. and Stella (Pearl) Trenholm.
He was an adherent of St. James Presbyterian Church, Big Bras d’Or and was a former employee of the Dept. of Transportation as a snowplow operator, he owned and operated Seal Island Transport Limited and was a member of the Nova Scotia Truckers Association and the Victoria County Truckers Association. He was also active in the aquaculture industry, hauling live fish.
He is survived by his wife, the former Joyce MacKenzie; daughter, Susan, Toronto; and brothers, Ralph, Black Rock, and Bob, Calgary.
Visitation will be in the Fillmore and Whitman Funeral Home Monday from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m.. Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 2 p.m. in St. James Presbyterian Church with Rev. Ritchie Robinson officiating. Burial will be in Black Rock Cemetery. As memorials, donations may be made to St. James Church or to the Canadian Cancer Society.

Julia Campbell
52, Timberlea
Julia Kathleen (Penney) Campbell died peacefully on Monday, March 26, 2001, at home, after a brief illness.
She was born July 10, 1949 in Glace Bay. She was the daughter of Gerald and Marie (Gardnier) Penney. In 1967 she moved to Halifax and Timberlea became her new home.
Julia studied at St. Michael High School and Mount Saint Vincent University. The Mount awarded her a certificate in Business Administration in 1990 and a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1994. Julia worked in fund-raising at Dalhousie University for 12 years and in 1999 she started her own business as a successful fund-raising consultant.
Throughout a very active life, Julia was ever faithful to her God, her family, her church community and her friends and she was rich in friends. She had a compassionate spirit, warm personality and enthusiasm for life that she shared with all.
Julia is survived by her husband, Neil Campbell; son, Charles, Toronto; sister, Diane (Jim) Francis, Swan Hill, AB; brother, Gerald (Kathleen) Penney, Marion Bridge.
She was predeceased by her sister, Carol and brother, Gary.
Visitation is 7-9 p.m. today and 2-4, 7-9 p.m. Wednesday. Funeral service is 1 p.m. Thursday, all in Atlantic Funeral Home, 6552 Bayers Rd., Halifax, Reverends Steve and Pam Speer officiating. Interment in Oakridge Memory Gardens, Lower Sackville.
Reception to follow at the funeral home.
Family flowers only please. For those who wish, a gift in Julia’s memory to Halifax Victory Church or the Canadian Cancer Society would be most appreciated.

Mary Sarah (Maisie) Joseph
76, Northside East Bay
Mary Sarah (Maisie) Joseph of Northside East Bay passed away peacefully on Monday, March 26, 2001, at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney.
Born in Northside East Bay on April 21, 1924, she was the daughter of the late Hector and Lizzie MacKinnon.
She was a member of St. Mary’s Church, East Bay.
Surviving is her loving husband, Johnnie; her beloved nephew, Joe (Donalda) and their daughter, Elizabeth; sisters Mary Anne MacMullin, Northside East Bay, Margaret Maki, Worcester, Mass. and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by six brothers, Mickey, Sandy, Neil, Charlie, Eddie, John William and sister, Katie.
The late Mrs. Joseph will have visitation from 2-4, 7-9 p.m. today, Tuesday, March 27, 2001, in T.W. Curry Parkview Chapel, Sydney.
Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday in St. Mary’s Church, East Bay, Fr. Frank Abbass officiating with interment in St. Mary’s Cemetery, East Bay.
Donations may be made to charity of choice.

Roy Ignatius MacAdam

A memorial mass for the late Roy Ignatius MacAdam will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, March 29, 2001, in St. Leo’s Church, Glace Bay, with Fr. Paul MacGillivary officiating.

Joseph Simon Yvonne
Miramachi City
Joseph Yvonne Sr. of Miramichi City, beloved husband of Eleanor ((McLaughlin) passed away on Sunday, March 25, 2001, at the Moncton City Hospital, after a brief illness.
Born in Cheticamp, Cape Breton, he was the son of the late Alex and Sadie (Arsenault) Yvonne.
He served 20 years in the RCAF in Canada and overseas. He was a member of Saint Michael’s Basilica, 4th Degree Knights of Columbus, Branch No. 10 Royal Canadian Legion and RCAF Wing Association.
Joe will be sadly missed and always remembered by his wife of 60 years, Eleanor and by his four children, Miriam (Charles) Parker, Joseph Jr. (Kay) Yvonne, Debbie (John) Gough, Ottawa, Billy (Angie) Yvonne, Moncton. He was a proud grandfather of 15 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Joe is also survived by two brothers, Pete, Billy and by his granddaughter, Christine.
Visitation was held Monday, March 26 from 7-9 p.m. and will be held Tuesday, March 27 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. in Maher’s Funeral Home. Mass of Christian Burial will be held from Saint Michael’s Basilica, Wednesday, March 28, 2001 at 11 a.m. Burial in Church Cemetery.
Arrangements entrusted to Maher’s Funeral Home, University Ave., Miramichi.
