Julia Mary Elizabeth (Reid) Boutilier

Julia Mary Elizabeth (Reid) Boutilier, 52, of 24 Foundary St., Glace Bay, passed away peacefully at the Glace Bay Health Care Complex on Tuesday, Nov. 28, 2000.
Born in Glace Bay, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Mary (Rosta) MacNeil. She was a member of St. Anne's Parish, Glace Bay.
She is survived by her children, Sheldon (Laura) Boutilier, Glace Bay, and Terri-Lynn (Yves) Boutilier, Moncton, N.B.; granddaughter, Robyn; Sheldon Boutiler Sr.; brothers, George (Edie) Reid and Charles (Joni McNeil); sisters, Mary (Naish McDonald) and Anne Marie (Lloyd Hill), all of Glace Bay and by many nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held Wednesday from 7-9 p.m. and will be held today (Thursday) from 2-4, 7-9 p.m. in Patten Funeral Home and Chapel, 71 Union St., Glace Bay. Funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Friday in St. Anne's Church, Main Street, Glace Bay, with Fr. Doug Murphy officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary's Parish Cemetery, Port Morien.
Rachel Collier
97, Glace Bay
Mrs. Rachel Collier, 97, of Tarrace Manor, South Street, Glace Bay, and formerly of MacDougall Street, Glace Bay, passed away Friday, Dec. 1, 2000, at the Glace Bay Healthcare Complex.
Born in Rose Blanche, Nfld., she was the daughter of the late Gabriel and Mary (Graham) Buffett.
She was a member of St. Mary’s Anglican Church, Glace Bay.
Surviving are grandson, Garry Collier, Nepean, Ont.; granddaughter, Wanda Mulligan, Ottawa, Ont.; sister Elsie, Barrie, Ont.
Predeceased by her husband, John, a son, John Robert, brothers, David and Harry Buffett.
Visitation will be held Sunday, Dec. 3, from 2-4, 7-9 p.m. in Patten Funeral Home and Chapel, 71 Union St., Glace Bay. Funeral service will be held Monday, Dec. 4, at 2 p.m. at St. Mary’s Anglican Church, Marconi Street, Glace Bay, Rev. Canon Fev Arnold officiating. Burial in Forest Haven Memorial Gardens Sydney/Glace Bay Highway.
Memorials may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
Clementine Parsons
70, Glace Bay
Clementine Parsons, 70, of 151 Dominion St., Glace Bay, died Thursday, Nov. 30, 2000, at her residence.
Born at Glace Bay, she was the daughter of the late Alfred and Mary (MacInnis) Aucoin.
She was a member of St. Anthony’s Parish, Glace Bay and was a thoughtful, loving mother.
Surviving are her husband, Arthur Parsons; three daughters, Mary (Fred) Gallant, Glace Bay, Theresa (Douglas) Gallant, Dominion, and Elizabeth, at home; a son, James (Laurie), Glace Bay; three sisters, Margaret Yates, Theresa MacKenzie and Julia Fitzpatrick, all of Glace Bay; two brothers, John Aucoin, Glace Bay, and Gene Aucoin, Ottawa. Also surviving are four grandchildren, Angela, Jacqeline, Colleen and James; two great-grandchildren, Selena and Janna Mae.
Predeceased by a son, Alfred, three sisters, Katie, Elizabeth Murphy and Jessie Denytis, brothers, Benny, Sym, Angus Aucoin and Bernie.
Cremation has taken place. Funeral mass will be held at St. Anthony Church Wednesday, Dec. 6, with Rev. Peter LeBlanc officiating. Interment in the parish cemetery.
Donations may be made to charity of choice.

Clementine Parsons, 70, of 151 Dominion St., Glace Bay, died Thursday, Nov. 30, 2000, at home.
Funeral Mass of Resurrection will be held Wednesday, Dec. 6, at 10 a.m. in St. Anthony’s Church, Rev. Peter LeBlanc officiating. Burial to follow in the parish cemetery.

George Cecil Cross
93, Glace Bay
George Cecil Cross, 93, of Taigh Na Mara, Main Street, Glace Bay, died Sunday, Dec. 3, 2000, at Taigh Na Mara.
Born in Bay Du Nord, Newfoundland, he was the son of the late James and Alice Cross.
He was a member of St. Mary’s Anglican Parish, Glace Bay. He was also a member of the Glace Bay Pensioners Club and an active bowler and dart player with the club. Cecil served in the Second World War in England.
Cecil is survived by a son, Clifford (Sheila), Glace Bay; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and a sister Ivy, Newfoundland.
Predeceased by his wife, Florence; son, Calvin; sisters, Minnie and Betty; brothers, Frank, Clyde, Jack, Herb, and Harold.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, Dec. 5, from 7-9 p.m. in the Patten Funeral Home and Chapel, 71 Union St., Glace Bay. Funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday in St. Mary’s Anglican Church, with Rev. Canon Fev Arnold officiating. Interment will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Glace Bay.
Christina Swartzack
Glace Bay
Christina Swartzack, 95, a resident of Victoria Haven Nursing Home, Glace Bay, passed away Friday, Dec. 1, 2000, at the nursing home.
Born in Bochnia, Halica, south of Krakow, Poland, she was the daughter of the late Albert and Mary Koziel.
She was a member of St. John’s Parish, Glace Bay. Her father came to Canada in 1912 and one year later the remainder of her family came to Canada on the ship Volturno. Christina dedicated her life to helping others, especially her late husband, Joseph. She enjoyed sewing and gardening. An avid hockey fan, she followed the Glace Bay Miners in the 1940s. Christina loved music, especially when her nephew Eugene would play the piano accordion accompanied by her brother, Albert Jr.
She will be sadly missed by her brother, Albert Jr. and several nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Joseph; a child in infancy; sister, Mildred; brothers, Victor, Joseph and Frank Koziel.
Visitation for the late Mrs. Swartzack was held Sunday from 7-9 p.m. in the V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, 16 Reserve St., Glace Bay. Funeral will be held Monday (today) at 10 a.m. in St. John’s Church with Father Paul MacGillivray officiating. Burial will be in the parish cemetery.
Hilda Francella McDougall
90, Glace Bay
Hilda Francella McDougall, 90, of Taigh Na Mara and formerly of 148 Douglas Ave., Glace Bay, died Monday, Dec. 4, 2000, at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney.
Born in Port Caledonia, she was the daughter of the late Daniel and Elizabeth (Boutilier) MacLeod.
She was a member of St. Mary’s Anglican Church, Glace Bay, and at one time she was a member of the Senior Guild in St. Mary’s Church.
Hilda is survived by a brother, John Samuel MacLeod, Port Caledonia; sister, Audrey Howie, Donkin; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Hilda was predeceased by her husband, Drewery McDougall, brothers, George Clyde, Henry and a sister, Stella.
Visitation for Hilda will be held today (Wednesday) from 7-9 p.m. in the Patten Funeral Home and Chapel, 71 Union St., Glace Bay. Funeral service will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. in St. Mary’s Anglican Church, Marconi Street, Glace Bay, with the Rev. Canon Fev Arnold officiating. Interment will be in Greenwood Cemetery, Glace Bay.
