Joseph LeBaron LeBlanc
67, Alder Point
Joseph LeBaron LeBlanc, 67, of Alder Point passed away on Sunday, Sept. 3, 2000, at home.
Born in Alder Point, he was the son of the late Raymond and Emma Mary (Marsh) LeBlanc.
He was a member of St. Joseph’s Parish, Bras d’Or.
He is survived by his sisters Mary (Mrs. David O’Toole), Joyce (Mrs. James Paquet), both in Alder Point, Lillian (Mrs. John Forrest), North Sydney, Veronica (Mrs. Albert Theriault), Sydney Mines, Marguerite (Mrs. George Compton), Millville, and Madonna (Mrs. John Thurbide), Bras d’Or; his brothers William LeBlanc, North Sydney, and Cyril LeBlanc, Florence.
He was predeceased by two sisters in infancy and a brother Francis.
He will be sadly missed by friends and family.
There will be no visitation.
The Funeral will take place today (Tuesday) at 2 p.m. in St. Joseph’s Church, Bras d’Or, Rev. Bedford Doucette officiating.
Burial in the Parish Cemetery.

John Steven Young
61, Alder Point
John Steven Young, 61, a resident of Alder Point, died Monday, Feb. 26, 2001, at home.
Born in Alder Point, he was the son of the late John Henry and Mary Thelma (LeBlanc) Young.
He was a fisherman and enjoyed building model fishing schooners and had many other hobbies, including hunting.
He was a member of St. Joseph’s Parish, Bras d’Or.
He is survived by his wife, Stella (Boutilier) Young; his loving children, John Henry Young, Daniel Steven Young, Loretta Lynn Young (Klusacek), Lisa Grace Young and Steven MacDonald and his three grandchildren, Barbara-Jean Serroul, Austin Klusacak and Sabrina MacKinnon.
Also surviving are his sisters, Annie Ethel Coventry, Rita Laffin, Marie Mammolite, Josephine Devoe, Noella Boutilier and Darlene Mathieu; his brothers, Joseph LeBlanc, Wally, Henry, Willard, Brian and Bernie.
Visitation Thursday from 2-4, 7-9 p.m. in G.R. Francis and Son Funeral Home, Sydney Mines.
The funeral will take place Friday at 10:30 a.m. in St. Joseph’s Church, Bras d’Or, Rev. Bedford Doucette officiating.
Burial in St. Joseph’s Cemetery.
Joseph MacIntosh
80, Alder Point
Joseph William MacIntosh, 80, a resident of Alder Point, Bras d’Or, died Sunday, March 25, 2001 at his home.
Born in Bras d’Or, he was a son of the late Norman and Kathryn (Nicholson) MacIntosh.
Joseph was a veteran of the Second World War, serving overseas with the Royal Canadian Corps of Engineers.
He was owner and operator of Norman MacIntosh & Sons Woodworking until his retirement two years ago.
He was a member of St. Joseph’s Church, Bras d’Or.
In his earlier years, he was an avid sports fisherman and hunter.
He was also a well-known boat builder, building his boats the Orion and, later, the Lock Moih.
Joseph is survived by a brother, Peter, Shawville, Que.; two sisters, Grace (Mrs. Wilfred Bornais), North Sydney, Betty Baird, Calgary. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by four brothers, Anthony (Crock), John David (Jerry), John Luke (Johnny) and Norman; four sisters, Mary Henwood, Yvonne MacIntosh, Gertrude MacIntosh and Joan, in infancy.
Visitation 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. today (Monday) in the W.J. Dooley Funeral Home 107 Pleasant St., North Sydney.
Funeral mass Tuesday 2 p.m. at St. Joseph’s Church, Bras d’Or with Rev. Bedford Doucette officiating.
Burial to take place in the parish cemetery.
Memorial donations may be made to St. Joseph’s Church Parish Hall fund or to a charity of one’s choice.
Josephine (Harrietha) Degaust
55, Alder Point
It is with deep regret that we announce the passing of “Josie” a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend to all, on Sunday April 1, 2001, at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital.
Born in Sydney Mines, she was the daughter of the late Dan Joe and Mary (Dandy) Harrietha.
Josie is survived by her loving husband and caregiver, Bernie Degaust; her two sons; Douglas (Sheila), New Brunswick and James (Kelly), Alder Point; her daughter, Wendy (Sheldon) Erickson, Alder Point; and her grandchildren; on whom she doted, Jenna and Timothy Degaust and Tony Erickson.
Also surviving are her brothers, Mick (Ann), Alex (Dot) and Andrew; her sisters, Pat (Stan) LeBlanc, Jackie (Forbie) LeBlanc, all of Sydney Mines and Annie, Toronto; and many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her brothers, Doug and Vince; and her sisters, Rose Roberts, Cecilia Forgeron and Effiebell Proper.
Josie, your acts or kindness will never be forgotten.
Rest in peace in the arms of your Savior.
We will never forget you.
