William Wallace 'Will' Harper
49, Catalone
William Wallace ‘Will’ Harpell, 49, of Catalone, passed away Oct. 9, 2003, after a long battle with cancer.
Born in Sydney, N.S., he lived most of his life in Louisbourg, before moving to Catalone.
He was well-known and liked in the community and a friend to many.
He worked for Scotia Rail Services for many years until he became ill.
He will be forever missed.
He will be remembered the most, in the way he was seen with his children, always taking them to the playground in Louisbourg.
He was predeceased by his brother-in-law, Bruce W. Marryatt (1980) and his brother-in-law, Patrick A. Greenwood (2000).
He is survived by his parents, Wallace O. and Agnes M. (MacLean) Harpell; his children, daughters, Amber and Elizabeth and son, Adam and their mother, Laura Harpell (MacDonald).
Also surviving is sister, Judy Greenwood, Catalone; brother, Tom Harpell, Catalone; nephew, Trevor, Halifax; niece, Kelly, Oshawa, Ont.; great niece, Madison, Oshawa; and his new found love, Cathy Mailman, who brought him so much happiness in the past months.
Funeral services will be held today at 2 p.m. from the Mighty Fortress Church, Main Street, Louisbourg, with Pastor Lee Kelley officiating, under the direction of W.A. Chant Funeral Home.
No flowers by request.
Donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or the Canadian Cancer Society of Nova Scotia.
Garfield Thomas Russell Kennedy
70, Catalone
Garfield Thomas Russell Kennedy, 70, of Catalone, passed away suddenly at home on Sunday, March 18, 2001.
Born in Louisbourg, he was the son of the late Thomas and Mary (White) Kennedy.
He was an employee of Sysco, Devco and Park’s Canada.
He is survived by his long-time companion, Winifred Campbell.
Eleven sons, Tommy (Linda), Louisbourg, Harry (Glenda) Catalone, Sandy (Carol), Catalone, Alvin (Sherry), Calgary, Donald (Betty) Calgary, Leonard (Arlene) Calgary, Bobby (Mary) Sydney, Stephen (Anna-Lee), Calgary, Dennis (Aimee) Halifax, Jamie (Jennifer), Calgary, Jody (Sherry), Calgary; three daughters, Elaine (Kevin), Jackie (Kenny) and Glenda (Billy), all of Sydney; his former wife, Lucy Kennedy; sisters, Theresa White, Marie Mullins, Agnes MacDougall, Francis MacLean; and brother, Edward Kennedy; also by 26 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
He is predeceased by granddaughter, Crystal Dawn Covin.
Visitation will be held at Stella Maris Church, Main Street, Louisbourg, Tuesday, March 20, 2001, from 7-9 p.m. and Wednesday 2-4 and 7-9 p.m.
Funeral service will be held Thursday at 10 a.m. at Stella Maris Church with Fr. Conrad Edwards officiating.
Burial at the Resurrection Cemetery, Sydney Forks.
Donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or the charity of your choice.

Charles David (Carl) Goyetche
60, Catalone
Charles David (Carl) Goyetche, 60, of 53 Main-a-Dieu Road, Catalone, passed away suddenly in a boating accident on Saturday Sept. 30, 2000.
Born in Arichat, N.S., he was the son of the late Wilbert and Evangeline (Landry) Goyetche.
He was a member of Stella Maris Parish, Louisbourg.
He was employed as a lighthouse keeper on several stations and retired from the Canadian Coast Guard in 1997 with over 40 years service.
He is survived by his wife, Brenda (Wadden); two sons, David (Lee Marie), Westmount, and Colin (Frances), Catalone; and three grandchildren, Brittany, Craig, and Bradley.
He is also survived by three brothers, James (Frances Ann), Louisbourg, Gerry (Marilyn), Main-a-Dieu and Jackie (Bonnie), Sydney; one sister, Leona (Buddy) MacDonald, Catalone.
Visitation was held Monday in Stella Maris Church, Main St., Louisbourg, from 2-4, 7-9 p.m.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. today (Tuesday) with Fr. Conrad Edwards officiating.
Interment, Old Town Cemetery, Louisbourg.
Arrangements are under the direction of W.A. Chant Funeral Home, Louisbourg.

Eileen F. MacDonald
Birmingham, Ala.
Eileen F. MacDonald, passed away Sunday, Feb. 18, 2001, in Birmingham, Ala.
Born in Glace Bay, graduate of Morrison Glace Bay High School.
Trained as a nurse at Boston City Hospital where she studied in the field of Anesthesia.
She left the field of general nursing to pursue her career as an anesthetist.
She joined the teaching staff of the University of Alabama at Birmingham teaching the theory of anesthesia and its application.
Predeceased by parents Hughie Allan and Agnes (MacDonald) MacDonald.
Survived by sister, Christena Lang, Buffalo, N.Y., and one brother, Allister (Effie) MacDonald, Glace Bay.
Also survived by several cousins including a special cousin Audrey (Richard) Hill, Dartmouth, N.S.
Cremation has taken place.
Interment at a later date in Loch End Cemetery, Catalone.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Patten Funeral Home and Chapel, 71 Union St., Glace Bay.
