Mary Jennette Kyte
67, St. Peter's
Mary Jennette Kyte, 67, Oban Road, St. Peter’s, passed away at the Strait Richmond Hospital, Evanston, on Tuesday, Oct. 17, 2000. Born in Montreal, she was a daughter of the late Joseph and Louisa (LeRocque) Bouchie. Mary was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch No. 47, and the women’s auxiliary. She is survived by her husband of 49 years, Charles Edward; daughter, Diane Kyte and companion Joseph Campbell, Louisbourg; sons, Edward (Vicki), Greenwood, Arnold, St. Peter’s, Gary, Winnipeg, Patrick (Troye), Dartmouth, Michael, St. Peter’s, Kevin and companion Julie, Oshawa, Basil, St. Peter’s, and Bradley and companion Sandy, B.C.; three grandchildren, Andrea, Ashley and Catlin; a sister, Lenova Sampson, brothers, Aurel ‘Joe’, Theophil, Camille, Charlie and Bernard and several nieces and nephews. There will be no visitation by request. Cremation has taken place under the direction of Sydney Memorial Chapel. A funeral mass will be held at St. Peter’s Catholic Church, St. Peter’s, Saturday 3 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to assist the mentally challenged.
Claire Anastasia Martell
87, St. Peter's
Claire Anastasia (Clara) Martell, 87, L’Ardoise, died on Friday, Oct. 20, 2000. She was a victim of Alzheimer’s for approximately 27 years. She was a resident of Richmond Villa, St. Peter’s, for the past 13 years. Born in L’Ardoise, she was the daughter of the late William and Virginia (Jenny Fougere) MacNeil. She is survived by her husband, Ralph, L’Ardoise; daughter, Mavis and son-in-law, Claude, Petit de Grat; several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by sisters, Mary Hughes, Beatrice Glazebrook, Cecelia Mombourquette; brothers, William and Leo. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. Cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held in Holy Guardian Angel Church on Tuesday, Oct. 24 at 3 p.m. officiated by Rev. John J. MacIntyre. Burial of ashes will be in Mt. Calvary Cemetery under the direction of Alex A. Morrison Funeral Home, St. Peter’s. Family request no flowers please. Donations may be made to the Alzheimer Society of N.S. or to a charity of one’s choice.
Everette George Hill
67, St. Peter's
The death occurred of Everette George Hill, 67, at Richmond Villa, St. Peter’s. He was a former resident of Dundee. Born in Balmoral, Richmond County, he was the son of the late George and Marjorie (Digdon) Hill. He is survived by his wife, the former Marie Petitpas Hill; stepson, Tony Sampson, Dundee, Paul Sampson, Lower Sackville; stepdaughter, Darlene Lake, Halifax; sister, Florence Black, Oxford; brothers, John Hill, Grand Anse, Douglas Hill, Dartmouth, and also several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by one sister, Margaret MacIntosh. No visitation. Cremation has taken place. The funeral will be held in the Black River United Church, Dundee, Saturday at 1:30 p.m. with Rev. Keith Adams officiating. Burial in the Black River Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of the Alex A. Morrison Funeral Home, St. Peter’s.
Alexander MacKenzie

Alexander MacKenzie died on Friday, Dec. 29, 2000, at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney, after a short illness. Born in St. Peter’s, he was the son of the late John D. and Alma (Vanbuskirk) MacKenzie. A veteran of the Second World War, he worked at the St. Peter’s Canal for 35 years. He is survived by his wife, Christy (MacDonald), Grand River; three daughters, Sally, Riverview, N.B., Cindy (Kenny Martell), Rockdale, N.S., and Mary Margaret Clements (Richard), Moncton, N.B.; four sons, Frankie (Betty Lou), Ituna, Sask., Donald (Geraldine), St. Peter’s, Gordon, St. John, N.B., and Roger (Marianne), Coral Springs, Florida. He is also survived by two sisters, Frances White, Halifax, and Edith Lafford, Grand Greve; several grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by two brothers, William and Justin; two sisters, Della White and Lois Fougere; a son Arthur in 1994 and a daughter in infancy. Visitation was Monday from 10 a.m-12 p.m., 2-4, 7-9 p.m. and will be today from 10 a.m. until 12 p.m. at the Alex A. Morrison Funeral Home. The funeral will be held today at 2 p.m. in St. Peter’s Catholic Church with Rev. Duncan MacIsaac officiating. Burial in the parish cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the IWK Childrens’ Hospital or a charity of one’s choice. Funeral arrangements are in care of the Alex A. Morrison Funeral Home, St. Peter’s.
Mary Catherine (Katie) Maddox
92, St. Peter's
Katie Maddox, 92, of St. Peter’s, died peacefully at home Friday, Feb. 9, 2001. Born in St. Peter’s, she was the daughter of the late Macolm and Minnie (Stone) Cameron. In past years she was actively involved in her community. She was a member of the St. Peter’s Altar Society. The CWL and worked as a volunteer for the Richmond Villa for more than 20 years. She was predeceased by her husband, Joseph Maddox and one brother, Stephen Cameron. She is survived by one daughter, Marie Landry (Tommy), St. Peter’s and two granddaughters, Dorraine Landry, St. Peter’s and Kendra Landry, Sydney. Cremation has taken place. There will be no visitation. Memorial service will be held at a later date. Arrangements under the direction of Alex A. Morrison Funeral Home, St. Peter’s. Donations may be made to the Dr. Kingston Memorial Clinic, L’Ardoise.
Allister Ian MacCuish
89, St. Peter's
The death of Allister Ian MacCuish, age 89, of St. Peters, occurred Friday, March 2, 2001, at the Strait Richmond Hospital, Evanston.
Born in St. Peters on February 26 1912, he was the son of the late Angus and Florence (Macdonald) MacCuish. He was the last surviving member of his family. He is survived by several cousins. Predeceased by his wife, the former Marcella MacDonald, and by his sister, Jane and one sister in infancy. Prior to his retirement he worked as a trucker and as an insurance agent. Ian was a member and elder of St. Peters United Church and one of the founding members of the Lakeview Cemetery company. He was past district deputy and past master of Richmond Masonic Lodge Number 97. He was awarded the 60-year jewel. He served on the Strait Richmond seniors advisory committee and was a member of the Bonnie Brae seniors club and Richmond Liberal Association. Visitation will be at the Alex A. Morrison Funeral Home, St. Peters, Monday, March 5, 2-9 p.m. Funeral service will be held Tuesday, March 6, at 2 p.m., in St. Peters United Church, with Rev. Anthony Blair officiating. Interment in Lakeview Cemetery, St. Peters. Donations may be made to the St. Peters United Church memorial fund, the Lakeview Cemetery Memorial fund or to a charity of choice. Mary Catherine (MacKenzie) McIvor
96, St. Peter’s
Mary Catherine (MacKenzie) McIvor, 96, died peacefully Thursday, April 19, 2001, in Richmond Villa, St. Peter’s, where she had been lovingly cared for since 1998. Born in St. Peter’s, Mary was the daughter of the late Norman and Henrietta (Boucher) MacKenzie.
She was a long-time resident of the United States. She was well known in the community for her caring and for her wonderful sense of humour.
Mary was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 47. A devout Catholic, she was a member of the Altar Society of St. Peter’s Catholic Church. She will be sadly missed by her sister, Margaret (Mrs. B. Rogers), Halifax; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was predeceased by husband, Arthur (Mac), brothers, Charles, John, Roddie, James and sisters, Bessie and Helen. Visitation will be held Saturday, April 21 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the River Bourgeois Funeral Parlour. Funeral mass will be celebrated at St. Peter’s Catholic Church by Fr. Duncan MacIsaac, Sunday, April 22 at 2 p.m. Burial in the parish cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to the activity department of the Richmond Villa, St. Peter’s Catholic Church or the Bonnie Brae Club, St. Peter’s. Arrangements are under the direction of the Alex A. Morrison Funeral Home, St. Peter’s.
