Cecil A. MacDonald
80, Coxheath
Cecil A. MacDonald, 80, Keltic Drive, Coxheath, passed away at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital on Monday, Dec. 4, 2000.
Born in Sydney, he was a son of the late Alfred and Elizabeth (Poirier) MacDonald.
Cecil was a member of Our Lady of Fatima Church, Sydney River. He was retired from Sysco, as a mobile crane operator.
Surviving are his wife, Mary Ellen (Gill); daughters, Lucina MacDonald, New Brunswick, and Cecilia (Dan) Hill, Pictou; sons, Tom (Joanne), Ontario, Roy (Donna), Dartmouth, and Jerome, British Columbia; 17 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
He was predeceased by six sons, a sister, Anita MacCormick and a brother, Harold.
There will be no visitation.
A memorial service will be held at Sydney Memorial Chapel, Thursday, 3 p.m., with Rev. Norman MacPhee officiating.
Interment in Resurrection Cemetery, Sydney Forks.
Marguerite Sarah Clements
79, Mountain Road, Coxheath
Marguerite Sarah Clements, 79, of Mountain Road, Coxheath, passed away Tuesday, Dec. 19, 2000, at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney.
Born in Sydney, she was the daughter of the late Murdock and Annie (Lewis) Campbell of Westmount.
She was a member of St. Mary’s Parish, Frenchvale.
Marguerite is survived by her husband of 60 years, Henry; daughters, Marlene (Allan) Bragg, Coxheath, Louis Smiley, Port Dufferin, Sheila (Chris) Swinnen, Coxheath, and Henrietta (Steve) MacKinnon, Upper Leitches Creek; seven grandchildren, Jim, Marion, Allan, Marguerite, Kenneth, Suzanne, and Kim and seven great-grandchildren, Sara, Melissa, Allie, Mitchell, Anna, Gillian, and Megan.
Also surviving are sisters, Marion Gentile and Ivy (Duncan) Morrison and brothers, Cecil (Ruby) Campbell and Douglas (Lily) Campbell, all of Sydney.
She is also survived by a brother-in-law, Clifton Christie and a number of nieces and nephews.
Marguerite was a wonderful wife and mother and will be sadly missed by all.
She was predeceased by a sister Frances Christie and a son-in-law Ken Smiley.
The late Mrs. Clements will have visitation Wednesday from 7-9 p.m. and Thursday from 2-4, 7-9 p.m. at T.W. Curry Parkview Chapel, Main Level.
Funeral Mass will be 11 a.m. Friday at St. Mary’s Church, Frenchvale, with Rev. Paul Abbass officiating.
Interment will be in the parish cemetery, Frenchvale.
Donations may be made to St. Mary’s Parish, 1777 Frenchvale Road, Frenchvale, N.S., B2A 4E8.
Mary Dorothy Adams
81, Coxheath
Mary Dorothy Adams, 81, of Coxheath, passed away Monday, Jan. 1, 2001, at the Northside Community Guest Home.
Mae was the daughter of the late William and Annie Adams.
She is survived by a brother, Norman; sisters, Jean MacDonald and Annie MacMillan.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by three brothers and four sisters.
There will be no visitation as cremation has taken place. Burial at a later date.
Sarah Dora Elizabeth Burton
Coxheath
Sarah Dora Elizabeth Burton, Keltic Drive, passed away Sunday, Jan. 28, 2001.
Born in Chanel, Nfld., she was a daughter of the late Francis and Hannah (Bennett) LeRossignol.
Elizabeth was formerly employed as an office clerk for L.A. Steel.
She was a member of St. Mark’s Church, Coxheath, and also a member of the Hackenley Group, ACW, and a leader of the Junior Auxiliary for girls.
Elizabeth was the last member of her immediate family.
Surviving are her sons, Paul, at home, and John (Gabriella), Ottawa; two grandchildren, Meredith and Holly, Ottawa, a great-grandchild, Robert McCoy.
Elizabeth was predeceased by her husband, Douglas, sisters, Ann J. and Ida, brothers, William and Phillip.
There will be no visitation.
Cremation has taken place under the direction of Sydney Memorial Chapel.
A memorial service will be held at St. Mark’s Church, Coxheath, Saturday, Feb. 3, at 2 p.m. with Rev. Harold Brown officiating.
Interment in Forest Haven Memorial Gardens at a later date.
Family flowers only.
