Sadie MacIntosh
93, North Sydney
Sadie MacIntosh, 93, a resident of the Northside Community Guest Home, North Sydney, and formerly of Millville, died Thursday, Feb. 15, 2001, at the home.
Born in Point Aconi, she was the daughter of the late John T. and Mary Jane (Walker) McCready.
She was a member of St. Joseph’s Parish, Bras d’Or and also a member of the CWL. Sadie belonged to the Bras d’Or Seniors and Pensioners Club for many years.
She is survived by seven daughters, Mary Alderson (Karl), Ontario, Frances Cantwell (Murray), Bras d’Or, Yvonne Cantwell, Ontario, Florence Bugden (Chester), Ontario, Helen Boutilier (Melvin), Little Pond, Anna McInnis (Donald), Skye Glen, Marguerite Leyte (Roland), Millville; three sons, Norman (Diane), Ontario, David (Marlene), Millville, and Donnie, Millville; one sister, Allene MacNeil, North Sydney; 35 grandchildren, 51 great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.
She was predeceased by her husband, William and three sons, Bill, Jack and a son Ernie in infancy, sisters, Ellen, Anne, brothers, Vincent, Bernard and Ernest.
Visitation will be held at the G.R. Francis and Son Funeral Home, today (Friday), 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral mass will be held Saturday at 10:30 a.m. in St. Joseph’s Church, Bras d’Or with Fr. Bedford Doucette officiating. Burial in the parish cemetery.
William Edward Fudge
82, North Sydney
William Edward Fudge, 82, of 42 Caledonia St., North Sydney, passed away peacefully, Thursday, March 15, 2001, at Breton Bay Nursing Home.
Born in Pass Island, Nfld. He was the son of the late John Thomas and Berthina (Strickland) Fudge.
William worked with National Sea Products for 39 years. He was a member of the Orange Lodge.
He is survived by his wife, Bessie and children, Minnie (Robert) Noseworthy, Baddeck, Shirley (Charlie) MacGillivray, Sydney, Edward (Francine), Clarence (Marie), Morgan (Paulette), George (Margie), all of North Sydney, Gerald (Brenda), Greenwood, Rodney, Sudbury, Ont.; nine grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren and two sisters, Margaret (Jobe) Williams and Irene Voutier, both of North Sydney; nephews, Lloyd and Roy Fudge.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by two brothers, Morgan and Phillip, three sisters, Phyllis, Minnie and Lillian and one son in infancy.
The late Mr. Fudge will have visitation at W.J. Dooley’s Funeral Home, 107 Pleasant St., North Sydney, Saturday, 7-9 p.m. and Sunday, 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral services will be held in St. John the Baptist Anglican Church, North Sydney, Monday at 11 a.m. with Archdeacon Reg MacDonald officiating. Burial will follow in Lakeside Cemetery.
Donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or to the Alzheimer Society.
Freeman May
84, North Sydney
Freeman May, 84, a resident of the Northside Guest Home and formerly of 8 Campbell St., North Sydney, died Wednesday, March 21, 2001, at the guest home.
Born in Belloram, Nfld., he was a son of the late James. T. and Clara May.
He was a veteran of the Second World War, serving with the Canadian Navy. He was employed for many years as a stevedore with CN Marine, North Sydney. He was a member of St. John the Baptist Anglican Church.
Surviving are his wife, Myrtle (Tibbo) May; one daughter, Sheila (Mrs. Edgar LaFosse), Pickering, Ont.; one son, Gordon (Dagmar), Belleville, Ont.; two sisters, Muriel Dicks, North Sydney, and Ivy Hillier, Lunenburg, N.S.; grandchildren, Monica, Chad (Krista), Jeffery and Angela; great-grandchildren, Mackenzie and Madison.
He was predeceased by three brothers, Gordon, Bert and Chesley, three sisters, Ellen, Theresa and Lavina, one daughter-in-law, Wanda.
Visitation 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. today (Friday) in the W.J. Dooley Funeral Home, 107 Pleasant St., North Sydney. Funeral service Saturday, 2 p.m. in St. John the Baptist Anglican Church with Archdeacon Reg MacDonald officiating. Burial to take place at Lakeside Cemetery, North Sydney.

Norman S. Stroud
84, North Sydney
Norman S. Stroud, age 84, a resident of Regent Street, North Sydney, passed away Thursday, March 29, 2001, at the Northside General Hospital, surrounded by his loving family.
Born in Rose Blanche Nfld., he was a son of the late Jane LeMoine.
Norman was a fisherman during his younger years in Newfoundland and later was employed with CNR as a stevedore at the Newfoundland ferry terminal in North Sydney before retiring in 1981.
He was a member of St. John the Baptist Anglican Church, North Sydney, and was actively involved in the Married Couples Association.
A devoted husband, father and grandfather, Norman willingly dedicated his retirement years to being caregiver to his loving wife of 60 years, and enjoying the time he spend with his children and grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife, the former Evelyn (Graham) Stroud; three daughters, Norma Patterson (Gordon), Boularderie, Harriet Patey (Bob), Frankford, Ont., Wanda Harbin (Harry), Sydney Mines; two sons Glendon (Wynn), St. Catharines Ont., Alvin (Karen), North Sydney; one sister, Dorothy (Dot) Parsons, Rose Blanche, Newfoundland; 12 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
He also leaves behind his best friend, his dog Joey.
He was predeceased by a child in infancy and a grandson, John.
Visitation will be 7-9 p.m. Saturday and 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Sunday in the W.J. Dooley Funeral Home 107 Pleasant St., North Sydney. Funeral service will be held Monday 11 a.m. from St. John the Baptist Anglican Church with Archdeacon Reg MacDonald officiating. Burial at a later date in Lakeside Cemetery North Sydney.

Gordon Green
87, North Sydney
Gordon Green, age 87, a resident of Queen Street, North Sydney, passed away Friday, March 30, 2001, at the Northside General Hospital, surrounded by his loving family.
Born in North Sydney, he was a son of the late Stanley and Catherine (Morrison) Green.
In earlier years, Gordon farmed the James Kelly property on Meech Avenue, North Sydney and later worked with Moores Electric in North Sydney, until his retirement.
He was a member, honourary deacon and former trustee of Calvary Baptist Church in North Sydney. He was a member of the board of directors of Central Court Homes, Stanley Street, North Sydney. He was a former member of the IOOF organization and was an avid bowler.
He is survived by one son, Kenneth (Louise), North Sydney; four daughters, Eileen Ward (Donald), Quispamsis, N.B., Mrs. Dorothy MacSween, Anne Jackson (Sandy), Eleanor Young (Fred), all of North Sydney; one brother, Charles (Sonny), North Sydney; two sisters, Nina Luffman and Helen Hatcher, both of North Sydney; brother-in-law, William (Bill) Keeping, North Sydney; six grandchildren Carol Ann, Nancy, Lori, Kelli, Lindsay, Mark; two great-grandchildren, Jared and Jordon.
He was predeceased by his wife, the former Isabel ‘Belle’ (Keeping) Green, one daughter, Joan Carol in infancy, brother, Sidney, sister, Elizabeth Moores.
Visitation will be 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Sunday in the W. J. Dooley Funeral Home, 107 Pleasant St., North Sydney. Funeral service will be held Monday 3 p.m. from Calvary Baptist Church with Rev. John Hannem officiating. Burial at a later date in Lakeside Cemetery.

Gloria J. Musgrave
60, North Sydney
Gloria J. Musgrave, 60, a resident of Seaview Drive, North Sydney, passed away Saturday, March 31, 2001, at the Northside General Hospital.
Born in North Sydney, she was the daughter of the late Pearl (Musgrave) Spencer and step-daughter of the late Ralph Spencer.
Gloria was a member of St. Joseph’s Church, North Sydney and a member of the North Sydney Senior Citizens and Pensioners Club, where she enjoyed playing bingo, darts and cards. Gloria was a very pleasant and friendly person who enjoyed being with people and loved children.
She is survived by two uncles, Horace and Milford Musgrave, North Sydney; aunt and caregiver Betty Musgrave, North Sydney; and several cousins, nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be 2-4, 7-9 p.m. Monday in the W.J. Dooley Funeral Home, 107 Pleasant St., North Sydney. Funeral mass will be held Tuesday 11 a.m. from St. Joseph’s Church with Rev. Tom MacNeil officiating. Burial at a later date in Lakeside Cemetery.
