Harry Arnold

ARNOLD, Harry - 83, Halifax, passed away March 11, 2003, at home. Born in Hammonds Plains, he was the son of the late John Charles and Adella (Wambolt) Arnold.

Harry served in Northwest Europe with the West Nova Scotia Regiment and volunteered for service in the Pacific against the Japanese. He was on route to the region when the war ended. Harry enjoyed various outdoor activities like gardening, hunting and fishing. He was the founding member of St. Philips Anglican Church. Being the last survivor of his immediate family,

Harry is survived by his wife, Ann; son, David (Colleen); daughter, Gail Prowse; grandchildren, Cynthia and Kyle; several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be 2-4, 7-9 p.m. Sunday, March 16, in Atlantic Funeral Home, 6552 Bayers Rd., Halifax. A memorial service will take place 2 p.m. Monday in St. Philips Anglican Church, Canon Duanne Tanswell officiating. A reception will follow in the church hall. Burial in Fairview Lawn Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, St. Philips Church or a charity of choice.

Ruth Jeanette Dunbrack

DUNBRACK, Ruth Jeanette - 79, South Uniacke, passed away March 10, 2003, in QEII Health Sciences Centre. Born in Windsor, Hants Co., she was a daughter of the late Melvin and Mary (Gallant) Dunbrack.

Surviving are daughter, Jane (Mike) Jardine, Fredericton, N.B.; son, Melvin "Butch" (Margaret) Brown, Prince Edward Island; brother, Floyd, Toronto; sisters, Jean Gorman, Dartmouth; Ruby "Betty" (Percy) Hunt, Mount Uniacke; Hazel Havelock, Miramichi, N.B.; nine grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren.

She was predeceased by her husband, Edward Alfred Brown; sons, Lloyd, Eddie and Arnold; sister, Joyce.

Visitation 2-4, 7-9 p.m. today in Atlantic Funeral Home, 125 Sackville Dr., Lower Sackville, where funeral service will be 11 a.m. Thursday, Rev. Alan Orser officiating. Burial in Pleasant Hill Cemetery. Reception to follow in the funeral home.

Norman Willette Carter

CARTER, Norman Willette - 64, Porters Lake, passed away suddenly March 9, 2003, in the New Halifax Infirmary, QEII. Born in Lower Ship Harbour, he was a son of the late Robert and Beatrice (Fleet) Carter.

He is survived by his loving wife, Sylvia (Wolfe); brothers, John, Porters Lake; Stewart, West Lawrencetown; sisters, Alma, West Lawrencetown; Wanda, Dartmouth. He will be sadly missed by his best friend, Bruno.

Visitation will be held 7-9 p.m. today in Atlantic Funeral Home, 771 Main St., Dartmouth. Funeral service will be held 10:30 a.m. Tuesday in St. Anselm's Roman Catholic Church, West Chezzetcook, Father Johni Mathew officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Family flowers only. Donations may be made to a charity of choice.

Harlon Eugene Hubley

HUBLEY, Harlon Eugene - 72, Eastern Passage, passed away August 4, 2003, in Dartmouth General Hospital. Born in Mushaboom, he was a son of the late James and Margaret (Westhaver) Hubley.

He was an iron worker and helped construct the iron bridge in Newcastle, N.B. and the Murray McKay Bridge in Halifax. He was later employed at Imperial Oil in Eastern Passage. He was a member of the Labour Union and the Ironworkers Union. Harlon loved the outdoors, particularly hunting and fishing.

He is survived by his wife, the former Sarah "Mae" Kennedy; daughters, Veronica (Michael) Young, Sheet Harbour; Elizabeth (John), Dartmouth; grandchildren, Jacqueline, Kyle, John, Michelle and Jerrica; sisters, Mrs. Mae Kenny, Sheet Harbour Passage; Mrs. Marion Jollimore, Halifax; Erma Hubley, Sheet Harbour Passage; several nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by granddaughter, Jocelyn; sisters, Ella Mae Hubley and Alice Harnish; brothers, Robert, John, James, George, Peter, Vernon and Roy.

Visitation will be 2-4, 7-9 p.m. today in Atlantic Funeral Home, 771 Main St., Dartmouth. Funeral mass will be held 11 a.m. Thursday in St. Andrews Roman Catholic Church, Eastern Passage, Father Michael Walsh officiating. Burial will take place in Dartmouth Memorial Gardens.

Family flowers only. Donations in memory may be made to Heart and Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia.

Irene Leona Cooper

COOPER, Irene Leona - 78, Halifax, passed away August 3, 2003, in the New Halifax Infirmary, QEII. Born in Halifax, she was a daughter of the late Eugene and Sadie Prudhomme. Her main passions in life were bingo, as well as playing cards and darts.

Surviving are her daughters, Gloria and Mary Turpin, both of Halifax; son, Camille Turpin, Dartmouth; grandson, Billy Turpin, Halifax. Irene was the last surviving member of her immediate family.

She was predeceased by her first husband, William Joseph Turpin; her second husband, Joseph Walter Cooper; sisters, Jeanette, Alice, Gloria and Lorraine; brothers, Victor and Frank; grandson, Richard David Turpin.

Cremation has taken place under the direction of Atlantic Funeral Home, 6552 Bayers Rd., Halifax. A memorial mass will be held 10 a.m. Saturday in St. Patrick's Roman Catholic Church, Brunswick Street, Father Basil Carew officiating. Burial to take place in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Lower Sackville, with her first husband.

Francis Joseph Underwood

UNDERWOOD, Francis Joseph - 84, Windsor, beloved father of five, passed away peacefully August 2, 2003, in Dykeland Lodge, Windsor. Born in Lower Kingsburg, Lunenburg Co., he was a son of the late Charles and Maude Lydia (Deal) Underwood.

He was a generous man with a warm heart.

Surviving are children, Anne Marie (William) Banfield, Dartmouth; Charles (Faye) Underwood, Middle Musquodoboit; James (Judy) Underwood, Lower Sackville; Cecil (Elizabeth) Underwood, Winnipeg, Man.; brother, Harold (Beatrice) Underwood, Halifax; sister, Gertrude (Eric) Larson, St. Margaret's Bay; grandchildren, Robert Jacobs, Joseph and Mary-Lynn Banfield, Matthew, Pamela and Nicole Underwood.

He was predeceased by daughter, Bernadette Jacobs; brothers, Leo, Joseph and Charles; sister, Mary Underwood.

Cremation has taken place under the direction of Atlantic Funeral Home, 125 Sackville Dr., Lower Sackville. A memorial service will be held 2 p.m. Thursday, August 7, in Calvary Tabernacle, 20 Gesner St., Halifax, The Rev. John D. Mean officiating. Burial to follow in Oakridge Memory Gardens, Lower Sackville.

Lorne Roy Feltham

FELTHAM, Lorne Roy - 44, Dartmouth, passed away suddenly August 2, 2003, at Beechbrook Campground, Ardoise. Born in Glovertown, NL, he was a son of Cora (Collings) Feltham and the late Lindy Feltham.

He was employed at Armour Transportation Systems for 15 years, where he drove tractor-trailer and in 1998 received the One Million Mile Safe Driving Award. He enjoyed camping, golfing, darts and campfires. He will be remembered for his poetic ability, his sense of humor, his smile and the time spent with his campground family, special friends and family.

Lorne is survived by his wife, the former Virginia "Ginnie" Hilton; brother, Calvin (Norma) Feltham; sister, Glenys Feltham; daughter, Jenelle; son, Matthew; several nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by infant sister, Lorna. He will be missed by his canine children, Jake and Jamiee.

Visitation will be 7-9 p.m. today and 2-4, 7-9 p.m. Wednesday, memorial service will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, August 7, both in Atlantic Funeral Home, 771 Main St., Dartmouth, Rev. Patricia Malin officiating. Burial to follow in Dartmouth Memorial Gardens.
