RAWDING, Grace Udarah - 86, Clementsport, died April 3, 1999, in Home Sweet Home Boarding Home, Princedale. Born in West Clifford, Lunenburg Co., she was a daughter of the late Joshua and Josephine (Oickle) Hirtle. She was employed for many years at CFB Cornwallis. Surviving are sons, Glen, Edmonton, Alta.; Elwood, Digby; daughter, Arvilla (Mrs. Lawrence Hogan), Kingston, Ont.; Jean Alberta, Halifax; 10 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; brother, Raymond, Northfield, Queens Co. She was predeceased by husband, Weldon Lloyd; son, Russell; brother, Harold; sister, Inez. No visitation by request. Funeral 2 p.m. Thursday in Robert L. Hall Funeral Home, Annapolis Royal, Rev. Randy Legassie officiating. Burial in Clementsport Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations to Canadian Cancer Society.

VEINOT, Rhoda Francis - 85, Rosedale Home for Special Care, New Germany, formerly of Newburne, Lunenburg Co., passed away February 12, 2006, in Rosedale Home for Special Care. Born in Newburne, she was a daughter of the late Henry and Lena (Eisnor) Carver. She is survived by daughter, Faye (Godfrey) Thompson, Newburne; sons, Leon (Beulah) and Leo (Helen), both of Oakland; seven grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; sister, Charlotte Langille, Oakland; brother, Franklyn (Marie) Carver, Newburne. She was predeceased by her husband, Albert, and a great- grandson; brothers, Roland and Ralph; sister-in-law, Kathleen. There will be no visitation in the funeral home. Graveside funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Thursday in Newburne Cemetery, Rev. Larry Ehrhardt officiating. Family flowers only. Memorial donations may be made to Rosedale Home for Special Care, Alzheimer Society of Nova Scotia or Canadian Cancer Society. Arrangements entrusted to R.A. Corkum Funeral Home, Wileville.

DEVEAU, Wilfred - 73, Clementsport, Annapolis Co., passed away April 15, 2006, following a tragic accident at home. He was a son of the late Thomas and Adele Deveau. Wilfred was a chef, first working in Cornwallis, Vietnam and New Brunswick. He is survived by his daughters, Cindy Deveau (Peter Hurst), Deep Brook; Chantell Deveau, Pembroke, Yarmouth Co.; son, Gary Deveau (Janice), Clementsport; sisters, Genevive Comeau, St. Alphonse; Isabelle Eisnor, Middleton; Lucille Khetak, Wellington; Delores LeBlanc (Nelson), Salmon River; Rose Jacquard, Yarmouth; Frances Upton (Doug), Yarmouth; brother, Lionel Deveau (June), Wellington; two grandchildren; many nieces and nephews. Wilfred was predeceased by his infant sister, Anna; brothers, Emile, Roger, and Edward. There will be no visitation by request. Cremation has taken place under the direction of Jayne's Funeral Home, Digby. A memorial service will be held in St. Vincent de Paul Parish, Salmon River, April 26, at 11 a.m. Donations in Wilfred's memory may be made to any charity.

VEINOT, Nellie Eva - 86, Union Square, Lunenburg Co., died Tuesday, March 13, 2001, in South Shore Regional Hospital, Bridgewater, Lunenburg Co. She was a member of St. Paul's Anglican Church, Union Square. She is survived by sister, Sarah, Mahone Bay Nursing Home, Mahone Bay; brother, Albert, Hebb's Cross; daughters, Kathleen and Ralph Carver, Rosaline and Vernon Smith, both of Union Square; sons, Dan and Sonia, Simpsons Corner; Albert and Betty, Charlottetown, P.E.I.; grandchildren, Wade, Peter, Terry, Trent, Gary, Neil, Peggy, Dale, Cecil, Timmy, Angie, Cheryl, Adrian and numerous great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband, Perry. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Langille's Funeral Home, New Germany. Her ashes will be buried in St. Paul's Anglican Church Cemetery, Union Square, following a graveside memorial service to be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Rev. Gloria McClure-Fraser officiating.

Kathleen Barbara Carver, 71, passed away Wednesday, May 19, 2004 at South Shore Regional Hospital, Bridgewater, N.S. Born in Union Square, Lunenburg County, N.S., Kathleen was a daughter of the late Perry and Nellie (Veinot) Veno. She was a member of St. Matthew's Lutheran Church, Newburne. Surviving are her husband Ralph; son Wade (Sharon), Union Square; sister Rosaleen (Vernon) Smith, Union Square; brothers Dan (Sonia) Veno, Simpson's Corner; Albert (Betty) Veno, New Germany; two grandchildren, Stephanie (Darren) Lynch, Alberta; Jason Carver, Union Square; several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by brothers Alfred, Joseph and Frederick.
Kathleen was very ambitious working for her community hall, her church and also for the Rosedale Horizons Senior Citizens Club, which she was a member. Previously, she worked at the Pleasant Rest Home in Bridgewater, N.S.
Visitation took place on May 21, 2004 at Sweeny's Funeral Home, New Germany, N.S. Funeral service was held on May 22, 2004 at St. Matthew's Lutheran Church, Newburne, Rev. Larry Ehrhardt officiating. Burial took place in the Union Square Cemetery, Union Square, N.S. Memorial donations were made to St. Matthew's Lutheran Church, Heart and Stroke Foundation or any charity.

VENO, Albert Otto - 72, Bridgewater, Lunenburg Co., passed away February 16, 2008, in South Shore Regional Hospital, Bridgewater. Born in Union Square, he was a son of the late Perry and Nellie (Veno) Veno. He is survived by his wife, the former Betty Moore; sons, Gary, Hemford; Neil, Timothy, both of Shelburne; Cecil (Lillian), Dale, both of Ontario; Adrian, Bridgewater; daughters, Peggy (Paul), Angela (Tony), both of Ontario; Shirl (Stephen), Dartmouth; sister, Roseleen (Vernon) Smith, Union Square; brother, Dan (Sonia), Simpson's Corner; 12 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by sister, Kathleen; three brothers in infancy. Arrangements are under the direction of R.A. Corkum Funeral Home, Wileville. There will be no visitation in the funeral home. A private graveside service will be held at a later date. Family flowers only. Memorial donations may be made to Canadian Cancer Society or a charity of your choice.

Enos Cornelious Veinotte Bridgewater Bulletin

Enos Cornelious Veinotte passed away at his home in Second Peninsula at the age of 84 years. He was the son of the late Enos and Lamina (Barry) Veinotte of Lower Northfield.
Surviving are his wife, the former Florence Lowe; and five sons and one daughter, Mansfield, Leslie, and Sinclair, in British Columbia; Harold of Mahone Bay; Garfield and Beatrice in the United States; a grandson, Lloyd Lillis, at home. Three sisters also survive, Mrs. Bertha Howard of New Jersey; Mrs. Zipporah Joudrey, Lower Northfield, and Ivy (Mrs. Mansel Barry), Massachusetts.
Funeral service was held from the Mahone Funeral Home, conducted by the Rev. Findlay of the Anglican Church.
Interment was in the family plot at Whynacht's Settlement.
The pall bearers were Randolph Stevens, Jr., A. Zinck, Arnold and Robert Joudrey.
The floral offerings were beautiful.

FOSTER, Hazel Margaret - 79, Maplewood, Lunenburg Co., passed away, Wednesday, December 29, 2004, in South Shore Regional Hospital, Bridgewater. Born in Scarsdale, she was a daughter of the late Parker and Jeanette "Jennie" (Hirtle) Hawkesworth. She was an active member and volunteer of Parkdale Maplewood Baptist Church as well various other church and community groups and organizations. Surviving are her special friend, Lloyd Wentzel, Parkdale; daughter, Barbara (Nelson) Veinot, Maplewood; sons, Allan (Pearl), Parkdale; Avard (Deborah), Midville Branch; sister, Janetta (William) Dexter, Hampton; sisters-in-law, Marion, Ida May, Hildred; brother, Earle (Elsie) Hawkesworth, Edmonton; seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; three step great-grandchildren; one step great great-grandchild; many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Henry; son, Clyde Kenneth; sister, Lila; brothers, Claude, James, Robert, Bruce, Cecil. Visitation 7-9 p.m. Saturday in Sweeny's Funeral Home, 4895 route 10, New Germany. Funeral 2:30 p.m. Sunday, January 2, in Parkdale Maplewood Baptist Church, Parkdale, Rev. Jennifer Joudrey officiating. Private family burial will follow in Parkdale Community Cemetery. No flowers by request, donations may be made to the Parkdale Maplewood Museum Expansion Fund, Parkdale Community Cemetery or Parkdale Maplewood Baptist Church.

Beecher W. Veinotte. 83, of Centre. Lunenburg County, died March 8th, following an accident about ten miles east of Liverpool. He had resided with his daughter, Pauline, for several years. Born in New Ross, he was a son of the late Enos and Agnes Veinotte. He is survived by four daughters, Beatrice (Mrs. Howard Doherty), Grafton, Kings County; Edna (Mrs. John Gale), North Sydney; Pauline (Mrs. Bernard Keizer), Centre, Lunenburg County; and Carolyn; four sons, Otis, Second Peninsula; Frederick, Danesville, Queens County; Earl and Douglas, Bridgewater. Also surviving are three sisters, Amey (Mrs. Thomas Norwood), Baker Settlement; Elsie, United States; Roxie (Mrs. Austin Brown), New Ross; four brothers, Wesley, Annapolis Valley; Lawrence, Windsor; Howard, Ontario; Frank, Lawrencetown; sixteen grandchildren and twenty-eight great grandchildren.
He was predeceased by his first and second wives; two sons; five brothers, and a sister. The funeral was held at 1:30 p.m. at St. James Anglican Church, Mahone Bay. Rev. William Dye officiated. Burial took place at St. Augustine Cemetery, Forties.

Reverend Clinton C.Veinotte, 69, of Ossining, formerly of Nova Scotia, died July 11, 1983 in Phelps Memorial Hospital Centre, North Tarrytown, New York.
Born in Mahone Bay, he was a son of Ruth (Oickle) Veinotte and the late Clarence Veinotte.
He was a retired priest of the Episcopal Diocese of New York and was formerly of the Anglican Diocese of Nova Scotia.
He graduated from Dalhousie University and King's College before his ordination in 1938. He served in the parishes of New Germany, Coxheath, and Annapolis Royal and was rural dean of the Annapolis Deanery during his tenure there. He was a part-time chaplain in the Canadian Army during the Second World War.
In 1955, he became rector of St.Paul's Episcopal Church in Yonkers, New York, where he remained until his retirement in 1977. Since then, he has resided in Ossining where he assisted at Episcopal churches in the area.
Surviving are his wife, the former Marie Hilchie; two sons, David, Kingwood, Texas; Terrence, Mount Vernon; two daughters, Diane Herger, Yorktown Heights; Pamela, at home; six grandchildren.
Besides his father, he was predeceased by a sister, Viola.
Funeral was held July 14 in Ossining, with burial in Dale Cemetery, Ossining.

Veinotte (Hilchie), Marie E.
Marie E. Veinotte (nee Hilchie), 88, Ossining, New York, passed away January 15, 2004. She was born in Chester, N.S. in 1915. Marie was predeceased by husband Rev. Clinton Veinotte, parents Capt. Harold & Essie Hilchie, sisters Margaret and Elizabeth, and brothers Frank and Theodore. Marie is survived by children David (Marion), Diane (Bill), Terrance and Pam (Charlie), seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren all in the U.S. Also surviving are brothers George and Wharton Hilchie of Chester, N.S., as well as many nieces and nephews. Interment has taken place in Ossining, N.Y.

OICKLE, Mae - 99, Mahone Bay, died December 6, 1992, in Mahone Nursing Home, Mahone Bay. Born in Cornwall, Lunenburg County, she was a daughter of the late Wilbert and Alice (Joudrey) Ernst. She was member of St. James Anglican Church, Mahone Bay. She is survived by a daughter, Violet, Mahone Bay; son, Garnet, Mahone Bay; five sisters, Mrs. Winnie Oxner, Hazel, Mrs. Vera Langille, Olive, all of Middle Musquodoboit; Mrs. Violet Watson, Kitchener, Ont.; a grandchild. She was predeceased by her husband, Harris L.; sister, Mabel. The body is in Mahone Funeral Home, visiting 2-4, 7-9 p.m. today. Funeral will be 2 p.m. Tuesday in St. James Anglican Church, Rev. Rod Gillis officiating. Burial will be in Park Cemetery, Mahone Bay. Donations may be made to St. James Anglican Church Memorial Fund or Fishermen's Memorial Hospital.

SNYDER, Vera Elizabeth - 80, New Germany, Lunenburg Co., passed away April 29, 2007, in South Shore Regional Hospital, Bridgewater. Born in Stanley Section, she was a daughter of the late Murray and Annie (Joudrey) Mader. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, New Germany. She was a devoted wife, a kind and caring mother and grandmother. Surviving are sons, Richard, Michael (Julia), Dereck (Lorraine), Cedric, all of New Germany; brother, Gordon "Joe" Esther, North River; granddaughters, Nena, Toronto; Julie, Calgary; Angela (Galen), Bridgewater; Nancy and Heidi, Dartmouth; several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Oran; brother, Bernard; daughter-in-law, Barbara Snyder. Arrangements are under the direction of R. A. Corkum Funeral Home, Wileville, where visitation will be 7-9 p.m. Wednesday. Funeral service 10:30 a.m. Thursday in Trinity Lutheran Church, New Germany, Rev. Larry Ehrhardt officiating. Private family burial in Epworth United Cemetery, New Germany. Family flowers only. Memorial donations in memory of Vera may be made to Trinity Lutheran Church, Lung Association of Nova Scotia or the charity of your choice.
