FEINDEL, Irene L. - 77, Bridgewater, passed away peacefully April 15, 2006, after a lengthy illness in South Shore Regional Hospital, Bridgewater. Born in North River, Lunenburg Co., she was a daughter of the late Alonzo and Elsie (Veinot) Daniels. She is survived by daughter, Patti (Frank) Hamacher, Germany; granddaughters, Shana and Stephanie; sister, Sheila (Keith) Smicer, Bridgewater. She was predeceased by her husband, Bruce W.; sister, Helen Lohnes. A memorial service will be held 11 a.m. Friday in Holy Trinity Anglican Church, Bridgewater, Father Ron Appleton officiating. No flowers or visitation by request. Memorial donations may be made to Kidney Foundation of Canada, Nova Scotia Branch, or a charity of your choice. Funeral entrusted to Sweeny's Funeral Home, Bridgewater.

OICKLE, Earling Elwood - 69, Pine Grove, died August 22, 1999, in the South Shore RegionalHospital, Bridgewater. Born in Pine Grove, he was a son of the late Ozem and Alena (Lohnes) Eichel. Surviving are his wife, the former Jeanie Mader; son, Louis, Bridgewater; daughters, Joanne Naugler, Pine Grove; Pauline Hanson, Simms Settlement; Pamela DeBruin, Pine Grove; Jennifer Barry, Maitland; eight grandchildren; brother, Urban “Aubrey” Oickle, Maitland; sister, Olive Oickle, Bridgewater. He was predeceased by brothers, Dawson, Basil, Arnold. Visitation 7-9 p.m. today, funeral 2 p.m. Tuesday, in Sweeny’s Funeral Chapel, Bridgewater, Rev. Ivan Norton officiating. Burial to follow in Pine Grove Cemetery. Family flowers only. Donations to Pine Grove Cemetery Fund, Canadian Cancer Society or any charity.

CREEMER, George Murray - 96, Millville, Kings Co., died May 2, 1995, in Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville. Born in Nicholsville, Kings Co., he was a son of the late George and Mehetable (Taylor) Creemer. He owned and operated his own mixed farm as well as worked as a lumberman and house painter. Surviving are his wife, the former Bernice Murphy; son, George, Millville; daughters, Myrtle (Mrs. Albert Corbin), Berwick; Ruby (Mrs. Glendon Trites), Jean Rafuse, Millville; Helen (Mrs. Wilfred Oickle), Aylesford; 18 grandchildren; 37 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his first wife, Lillian Wagner; brothers, John, Nathan, Lewis, Lawrence; sisters, Annie, Effie, Elizabeth. Visitation 7-9 p.m. tonight, funeral 2 p.m. Friday, both in H.C. Lindsay Memorial Chapel, Berwick, Rev. Donald MacPherson officiating. Burial in Aylesford Union Cemetery. Donations to Heart and Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia or any charity.

Elsie May Daniels, 71, of North River, passed away January 23, 1983, at the Fishermen's Memorial Hospital, Lunenburg, after a lengthy illness.
Born in Dalhousie, she was the daughter of the late Obie and Hattie (Veinot) Acker.
Surviving are two daughters, Irene (Mrs. Bruce Feindel), Bridgewater; and Sheila (Mrs. Keith Smicer), Bridgewater; five sisters, Wilma (Mrs. Albert Robar), Lake Paul; Gladys Weagle, Spryfield; Alma (Mrs. Ralph Bezanson), Kingston; Daphne (Mrs. Allison Tupper), Aylesford; and Audrey (Mrs. Lemuel Lohnes), New Germany; five brothers, Murry and Cecil, both of Aylesford; Lyman, Kingston; Owen, Middleton; and Lloyd, Greenwood; and one grandchild, Pattie Feindel, Bridgewater.
She was predeceased by her husband, Alonzo; one daughter, Helen; three sisters, Merna, Violet, and Ernestine; two brothers, Harold and Eldie.
Funeral services were held on Tuesday, January 25, 1983, in the Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, New Germany, Rev.Gus Gustafson officiating. Hymns sung were "Peace, Perfect Peace" and "Amazing Grace." She was laid to rest in the church cemetery.

HENDRIKSON, Gwendolyn Elizabeth (Sis) - 76, Dorchester, N.B., died May 14, 1997, at the home of her niece in Dartmouth. Born at Mahone Bay, she was a daughter of the late Frederick and Sarah (Veinot) Begin. She was a member of Royal Canadian Legion Branch 16, Dorchester, and the ladies auxiliary. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. Surviving are son, Stefan Slauenwhite, White Rock, B.C.; many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, John P.; sisters, Kathleen, Barbara; brothers, Richard, Robert, Edward, David. Cremation has taken place under the direction of T.K. Barnard Funeral Home, Bedford. Memorial service 3 p.m. Wednesday in Holy Trinity Anglican Church, Dorchester, Rev. Kevin Stockall officiating. Burial at a later date in Mahone Bay. Family flowers only. Donations to Holy Trinity Anglican Church, Dorchester.

OICKLE, Idella Mable - 88, East Dalhousie, Lunenburg County, died November 18, 1993, at home. Born in East Dalhousie, she was a daughter of the late Orbin and Devilla (Veinot) Lohnes. She was a member of St. Cyprian's Anglican Church, East Dalhousie. She is survived by five daughters, Lois (Mrs. Parker Tufts), Ida (Mrs. Donald Zinck), both of Lake Pleasant; Mary Legge, Nellie Benjamine, Eileen Oickle, all of East Dalhousie; brother, Albert, East Dalhousie; 12 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband, William; an infant daughter, Lily; four sisters, Hanna, Annie, Delia, Lois; brother, Thomas; half brother, Lamont. Visitation will be 2-4, 7-9 p.m. Sunday in Langilles Funeral Home, New Germany. Funeral will be 2 p.m. Monday in St. Cyprian's Anglican Church, Rev. Gordon Neish officiating. Burial will be in St. Cyprian's Cemetery. Donations may be made to St. Cyprian's Anglican Church.

NAAS, Kathleen Vera - 57, Newburne, Lunenburg Co., died November 30, 1997, in Fi shermen's Memorial Hospital, Lunenburg. Born in Walden, she was a daughter of th e late Samuel and Margaret (Joudrey) Zinck. She was a member of Transfiguration Anglican Church, where she sang in the choir. Surviving are her husband, Paul; s ons, Brent, Walden; Kelly, Upper Branch; brother, Allister, Walden; a grandson. She was predeceased by son, Troy; brothers, Nelson in infancy, Stewart. Visitati on 2-4, 7-9 p.m. today in Langilles Funeral Home, New Germany. Funeral 2 p.m. We dnesday in Transfiguration Anglican Church, Newburne, Rev. Gloria McClure-Fraser officiating. Mrs. Gertrude Acker - The death of Mrs. Gertrude Acker of Lake Pleasant occurred at the D.M. Hospital, Bridgewater, early on Thursday morning Nov 14, 1968
Although Mrs. Acker had been in failing health for some months past, she had been mostly tenderly cared for in the home by her granddaughter, Maureen Grant, and had been only taken to hospital on tuesday evening.
Born in Lake Pleasant 77 years ago she was a daughter of the late Joseph and Angeline (Woodworth) Acker
Mrs. Acker is survived by fours sons, Perry, LaMont, Oran and Donald, all of Lake Pleasant, and three daughters, Damie, Mrs. Emerson Pearl of Truro; Mrs. Audrey Mailman of Nictaux and Violet, Mrs. Harold Veinot of Galt Ontario. There are 32 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. Also surviving are two brothers, Caleb of Lake Pleasant and Austin of Kentville, and one sister, Mrs. Bessie Zinck of Lake Pleasant.

The community of New Albany, Annapolis County, and surrounding area was saddened to hear of the sudden passing on Sunday, October 13th, of Leon Robert Veinot at his home here. Mr. Veinot was born in Bridgewater 84 years ago, son of the late David and Agnes Veinot. At an early age his family moved to New Albany to reside. In 1913 he married the former Annie Mabel Madicraft who predeceased him in 1957.
Of Christian character, he was a member of the United Church in Lawrencetown and was a lumberman all his life from which occupation he retired in 1957. He was also a councillor for the Municipality of Annapolis for 12 years.
He is survived by two daughters and three sons: Vivian and Lillian (Mrs. Milton Spinney), Kingston; Clyde, Middleton; Garfield, Kentville; Garnet, New Albany; also one sister, Vida (Mrs. Arch Medicraft); and one brother, Clyde, both of New Albany. One son, Robert, and a brother, Ralph, who lived in Lawrence, Mass., predeceased him. He is also survived by fourteen grandchildren and ten great grandchildren.
Funeral services took place on Tuesday, October 15, at 2 p.m. from the New Albany Church with Rev. Fred Archibald officiating, with interment in Pine Grove Cemetery, New Albany.
Pallbearers were Vernon Veinot, Donald Veinot, Gordon Medicraft, and Lewis Naugler.

Leon Robert Veinot - of New Abany Annapolis County died at his home following a brief illness, he was 84. He was born in Bridgewater, son of the late David and Agnes Veinot. In 1890 he moved to New Albany district and resided there all his life. He married Annie Medicraft in Middleton in 1913 and was predeceased by her in 1957. He was engaged in the lumbar business from which he retired in 1957. He was a councillor for the Municipality of Annapolis for 12 years and was a member of the United Church, Lawrencetown. He is survived by two daughters, Lillian, (Mrs. Milton Spinney) and Vivian, both of Kingston and three sons, Clyde of Middleton, Garfield, Kentville and Garnet, New Albany; an infant son, Robert predeceased him. He is also survived by one sister, Vida (Mrs. Arch Medicraft), New Albany; a brother Clyde, also of New Albany. A Brother Ralph of Lawrence Mass. Predeceased him, also surviving are 14 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. Funeral service was from the New Albany Church conducted by Rev. Fred Archibald. Interment was at Pine Grove Cemetery.

HENNIGAR (MacDonald), Bertha Mae - 81, Aalders Avenue, New Minas, died December 9, 1997, in QEII Health Sciences Centre, Infirmary Site. Born in Lake Paul, Kings Co., she was a daughter of the late Rupert and Laura (Lutz) Joudrey. She was a member of St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Church, Kentville, and served as president of the Catholic Women's League for several years, local and diocesan. She had served as vice-president of the Provincial Council of the Catholic Women's League. She was a member of Minas Fifty Plus Seniors Group, New Minas. Surviving are her second husband, Wendall Hennigar; daughter, Louise (Mrs. Fred Hockley), Centreville, Kings Co.; sons, Vincent and Michael MacDonald, Penticton, B.C.; Allan MacDonald, Lethbridge, Alta.; Laverne (Mac) MacDonald, Lower Sackville; John MacDonald, Kentville; stepdaughters, Mrs. Theo MacFarlane, Kentville; Dawn (Mrs. Doug Coldwell), Delhaven; Mary Ann (Mrs. Aubrey Dakin), Bridgewater; stepsons, Owen (Cookie) Hennigar, Wolfville; Terry Hennigar, Greenwich, Kings Co.; sisters, Mrs. Dora Lutz, Nicholsville; Mrs. Ruby Rawding, Millville; Nina (Mrs. Cecil Veinot), Parker Road, Kings Co.; 20 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her first husband, Mike MacDonald; sisters, Annie, Ella, Marie, Gertrude; brothers, Frank, Frederick, Vance. Visitation 2-4, 7-9 p.m. Friday, prayers 2 p.m. Friday, both in W.C. Hiltz Funeral Parlour, Kentville. Funeral 10 a.m. Saturday in St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Church, Kentville, Rev. Albeni d'Entremont officiating. Cremation to follow. Burial at a later date in Holy Cross Cemetery. Family flowers only. Donations to St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Church building fund or any charity.

MELDRUM, Ernest Calvin - 94, Porters Lake, died October 3, 2001, in Braeside Nursing Home, Middle Musquodoboit. Born in Cherryfield, Lunenburg Co., he was a son of the late Solomon and Alda (Wagner) Meldrum. He was a long-time resident of Porters Lake and he lived in Aylesford for most of his young life. Before retiring he operated the Fina Service Station, Lake Echo. He is survived by daughter, Myrtle (Donald) MacRoberts; sons, Donald (Lorraine) Meldrum, David Meldrum; brother, Paul; sister, Lillian Brown; 13 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; three great great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by wife, Violet (Veinot); son, Brian; brothers, Edgar, Ford, Owen, Harold, Gerald, Steven; sister, Edna. Visitation will be 2-4, 7-9 p.m. today in Rowlings Funeral Home, Musquodoboit Harbour. Funeral service 2 p.m. Saturday, October 6, in St. David's Church, Lake Echo. Burial will be in Dartmouth Memorial Gardens, Westphal. Family flowers only. Donations may be made to Braeside Nursing Home, Middle Musquodoboit.

Lake Paul - Wilma Lavinia Robar, 77, Lake Paul, Kings County, died Friday, May 8, 1987, at Blanchard Fraser Memorial Hospital, Kentville. Born in North River, Lunenburg County, she was a daughter of the late Obie and Hattie (Feindel) Acker. She was a member of St. Crypians Anglican Church, Dalhousie. She is survived by her husband, Albert; a son, Paul, Lake Paul; a daughter, Winnie, Lake Paul; two half-brothers, Cecil Veinotte, Factorydale; Lyman Veinotte, Kingston; three half-sisters, Daphne (Mrs. Allison Tupper), Factorydale; Aydrey (Mrs. Lemmy Lohnes), New Germany; Alma (Mrs. Ralph Bezanson), Kingston; 11 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by a daughter, Marjorie; four brothers, Lloyd, Owen, Eldon, Harold; five sisters, Ernestine, Myrna, Elsie, Gladys, Violet. The body rested in H.C. Lindsay Memorial Chapel, Berwick. Funeral service was held Tuesday, May 12, in St. Crypians Anglican Church, Rev. Gordon Neish officiating, with burial in the church cemetery. Donations mat be made to Canadian Cancer Society or Canadian Diabetes Association.

VEINOTTE, Nina Mildred — 84, Fac­torydale, Kings Co., passed away on Tuesday, March 30, 2010, in Soldiers’ Memorial Hospital, Middleton. Born in Lake Paul, Kings Co., she was a daughter of the late Rupert and Laura (Lutz) Joudrey. Nina had worked at Howard’s Service Station, Morristown, M. W. Graves Ltd., Berwick, and Scotian Gold, Coldbrook. She enjoyed camping and knitting. Nina was devoted to her family and many friends. Surviving are her loving husband of 65 years, Cecil E. Veinotte, Factorydale; children, Rex (Darlene), Black Rock; Harvey (Darlene), Burlington; Wanda (Skip), Kingston; Ann (David), Aylesford; Don (Margaret), Somerset; Joy (Emerson), Factorydale; 11 grand­children; 15 great-grandchildren; three great great-grandchildren; sis­ter, Ruby Rawding, Grand View Ma­nor, Berwick; several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her children, Lawrence, Milton and Ruby Ann; brothers, Frank, Fred and Vance Joudrey; sisters, Marie Patterson, Ella Tupper, Bertha MacDonald-Hennigar, Annie Keddy and Dora Lutz. Visitation for Nina will take place 7-9 p.m., today in H.C. Lindsay Funeral Home, 192 Com­mercial St., Berwick, NS, B0P 1E0 (902-538-9900), where the funeral service will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, April 3, Pastor Tim Bigelow officiat­ing. MURPHY, John (Jack) Elwood - 75, Berwick, Kings Co., died August 16, 1995, in Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville. Born in South Berwick, he was a son of the late James and Jennie (Kirk) Murphy. He was a veteran of the Second World War, serving overseas from 1941-45 as a gunner with the Royal Ack Ack Battery. He was wounded in action. He was a life member and past president of Royal Canadian Legion, Ortona branch, 69, Berwick; and a member of the Veteran's Club. He had served with the Canadian Corps of Commissionaires. He had been an avid sportsman particularly in baseball and hockey and had played with the Berwick Apple Kings and coached women's softball teams. He owned and operated a garage and restaurant in South Berwick and was formerly employed with M.W. Graves Company. He retired as foreman from the Department of Highways. Surviving are his wife, the former Marjorie (Marj) Kelley; daughters, Sharon (Mrs. Bob Trefry), Kentville; Jacqueline (Mrs. Gary Roop), South Berwick; brother, Stewart, Berwick; four grandchildren, Kellie and Kevin Trefry, Jennifer and Jonathan Roop. He was predeceased by two infant sons; sister, Margaret; brother, Hartley. Visitation 2-4, 7-9 p.m. today, legion service 7 p.m. tonight and funeral 2 p.m. Friday all in W. C. Hiltz Funeral Parlour, Kentville, Rev. Fred Hinxman officiating. Private family burial in Berwick Cemetery. No flowers by request. Donations to the Lung Association or Heart and Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia.
