OICKLE, Charles Henry Clairmount - 89, Blockhouse, passed away Tuesday, November 16, 2004, in South Shore Regional Hospital, Bridgewater. Born in Big Lots, he was a son of the late Arthur and Minnie (Rhuland) Oickle. In his earlier years, Charles worked for Acadia Construction and then worked for many years with Smith and Rhuland Shipyards, Lunenburg. While at Smith and Rhuland's he had the privilege of working on Bluenose II. Charles was a member of St. James Anglican Church, Mahone Bay. He is survived by his wife, Eva; son, David and wife Anne, Labelle, Queens Co.; daughter, Carla and husband Ross Pentz, Camperdown; brother, Gordon, Rhodes Corner; sisters, Mildred, Northwest; Jean, Lower Northfield; grandchildren, Deanne Kelley and Trina Oickle, and great-grandchildren, Hannah and Mariah. He was predeceased by brothers, Cecil, Wilfred, Paul, Evan, and a sister, Edith. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Dana L. Sweeny Funeral Home, 11213 Hwy. 3, Lunenburg. Memorial service will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. in St. James Anglican Church, Mahone Bay, Rev. Ian Whistler officiating. Alice Levina Oickle, 84, Mahone Nursing Home, Mahone Bay, formerly of Maitland, died October 2, 1997, in the home. She was a daughter of the late Edwin and Emma Ernst. She was a member of Christ Anglican Church, Maitland, where she was also a guild member. She was a member of the seniors group at Ocean View, Western Shore. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. Surviving are daughters, Eleanor Joudrey, Bridgewater; Audrey (Mrs. Ivan Rhodenizer) Oakhill; Mary (Mrs. Norman Myra), Gold River; Gloria Barkhouse, Whynotts Settlement; Mayola (Mrs. Leslie Hirtle), Clearland; 13 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her first husband, Allan Ernst; second husband, Wilfred Oickle; daughter, Isobel; sons, Lindsay, Doyle; sister, Bessie Lowe; brothers, Enoch, Selvyn. HENLEY, Ronald D. - 61, Northfield, Queens County, died March 3, 1994, in Queens General Hospital, Liverpool. Born in Maitland Bridge, he was the son of Lona M. (Veinot) Henley, Northfield and the late Ralph Henley. He was a maintenance worker with Northwood Centre, Halifax for 12 years until retiring in 1989 due to ill health. He is survived by his sister, Glendeen (Mrs. Bruce Gates), South Milford, Annapolis County; brother, Kenneth, Northfield. Visitation will be 1-5 p.m. today only in Chandlers' Funeral Home, Liverpool. WILE, Elmeda Blanche (Meda) - 104, died January 7, 1999, in Grandview Manor, Berwick. Born in Springfield, Annapolis Co., she was a daughter of the late Fletcher and Louise (Acker) Tufts. While a resident of Springfield, she was a member of the Rebekah Lodge and Springfield Baptist Church, and enjoyed knitting and quilting. She was an avid card player. CLAYTON, Philip Walter - 81, Mount Denson, Hants Co., died peacefully on Wednesday, September 20, 2006, with his family by his side. Born in Parker's Cove, Annapolis Co., he was one of seven sons of the late Delbert D. and Lauren Vale (Hudson) Clayton. He was a veteran of the Second World War and a member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Hants County Branch 009, Windsor. He worked for many years in the auto body industry before opening his own shop in Mount Denson. After his retirement he finally was able to enjoy many of the things he loved most, golfing with his boys and brothers, playing the guitar and listening to music, and spending countless hours on the water in his hand-crafted pontoon boat. Although his later years were plagued with illness, he met each new challenge with humour, grace and an iron will. A kind, gentle man, he will be dearly missed by all who knew him. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, LaVerne (Wile); his children, Reigh (Judy), Peggy (Victor), Rick (Mercedes), Greg (Tracey); cherished grandchildren, Jeremy (Andrea), Becky (Jeremy), Alysa, Teagan, Ellis; stepgrandchildren, Edward, Justine, Adriane; step great-grandchild, Finnegan; brothers, Otis (Evalina), Maurice (Shirley); many nieces and nephews; and a wide circle of family and friends. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by brothers, Gerald, Robert, Shirley and Clyde. Mrs. Bethis Fancy 1921 Bridgewater Bulletin
The death of Bethia, relict of the late William Fancy, took place at Barss Corner on Christmas Day, at the age of 92 years. Mrs. Fancy had been enjoying good health practically to the time of her death. She passed away quietly and with scarcely warning of the approaching end.Mr. and Mrs. Fancy were pioneers of the country in which they cut down the primeval forest to make themselves a home. Industry and strict application to the stern duties confronting them were rewarded by comfort and prosperity in their later years. Mrs. Fancy was much respected in the community and will be missed by her large circle of friends. She leaves four sons and two daughters to mourn their loss. The funeral took place on December 27th, the Rev. Knickle officiating.

He was a woodsman. Nictaux - Amos Leroy Robar, 67, of Nictaux, died Monday in Soldiers Memorial Hospital, Middleton. Born in Lake Pleasant, Annapolis County, he was a son of the late Edward and Annie (Acker) Robar. He was a member of the Nictaux Volunteer Fire Department. Surviving are his wife, the former Evangeline Taylor; a daughter Edna (Mrs. Arthur Sinclair), Edmonton, Alta; a son Arthur, Nictaux; two sisters Mrs. Renie Robinson; and Mrs. Myrtle Dahr, both of Middleton; five grandchildren. He was predeceased by a brother Ellis and a sister Bernice, The body is at Warren T Roop Funeral Home, Middleton. Funeral will be Thursday at 2 pm in Nictaux Baptist Church, Rev. ROBAR, Nellie Mae - 94, Nictaux, passed away January 9, 2007, in Soldiers' Memorial Hospital, Middleton. Born in Nictaux, she was the daughter of the late Harry and Florence (Bailey) Taylor. Nellie loved to quilt, sew and enjoyed playing bingo and doing puzzle books. She is survived by daughters, Isabelle (Frank) Durling, Wilmot; Debbie (Lennie) Pelton, Greenwood; Brenda (Jack) Robar, St. Thomas, Ont.; Florence (Kenneth) Carter, Dark Cove, N.L.; Dianna (Reginald) Taylor, Port George; sons, Paul Robar, Richard (Grace) Robar, both of Nictaux; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great great-grandchildren; and half-sister, Thelma Dumphy, Tatamagouche. She was predeceased by daughter, Hilda; infant son, Wayne; half-sisters, half-brothers and several grandchildren. Gilford Noble Burgoyne, 56, of Springfield, Annapolis County, passed away Tuesday, March 5, 1991, at the Victoria General Hospital, Halifax. Born in Sprinfield he was the son of Ralph Burgoyne, Sprinfield, and the late Bernice (Robar) Burgoyne. He was a 33 year active member of the Sprinfield Fire Department. An active member of the Annapolis County Ground Search and Rescue. He was loved very much by his father and friends. He is survived by his former wife, Evelene Robar, New Germany; two daughters, Katherine Robar, Bridgewater; Joyce, Seffernsville; and one grandson Steven, Bridgewater; six brothers, Irving, Nelson, both of Sprinfield; Russell, Simpson's Corner; Donald, Cherryfield; Doug, Danesville; Stanley, Aylesford; four sisters, Mrs. Mabel Joudrey; Elaine (Mrs. Lester Russell), both of Springfield; Ruth (Mrs. Hudson Joudrey), Bridgetown; Shirley (Mrs. Arnold Robar), New Germany; several nieces and nephews. Hew was predeceased by two sons Randall and Carson, and one daughter Phyliss. The body rested at Warren T. Roop's Funeral Home, Middleton. Funeral service was held on Saturday, March 9, 1991, at Springfield United Baptist Church, Pastor Gerald Zinck officiating. Music was provided by the choir, with Dorothy Mason as organist. Hymns sung were ""Nearer my God to Thee"", ""How Great Thou Art"", by the choir. ""In The Garden"" was sung by Harry and Pauline Delong. Pallbearers were Sprinfield Fire Department members - Laurie Wile (Fire Chief), Ainsley Acker, Fred Baxter, Howard Lowe, Wendall Slauenwhite, Ronald Veinot and Brian Wentzell. Interment was in Springfield Cemetery.

Born in Middleton, Annapolis Co., he was a son of the late Gale and Marjorie (Beals) Oickle. Wilfred retired in 1985 after many years of employment at Larsens Packers, Berwick. Surviving are his wife, Helen B. (Creemer) Oickle; sons, Lewis (Susan) Oickle, Aylesford; Lawrence (Vicki) Oickle, Berwick; four grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; brother, Arnold (Rose) Oickle, Meadowvale; sister, Reta Selig, Edmonton, Alta. Born in Springfield, Annapolis Co., he was a son of the late Ray Harold and Laura Mabel (Burgoyne) Joudrey. He was a heavy equipment operator most of his life. He was working with Scotia Best Christmas Tree, Elmwood, until the time of his death. Mrs. Albertina Jodrey 1938 Bridgewater Bulletin
On June 11th, Mrs. Albertina Jodrey, widow of the late Asaph Jodrey, passed away at her home in Sweetland. She was a daughter of the late John and Eleanor Veinotte, of Maitland, Lunenburg County, who had reached the age of eighty-five years. Her husband passed away one year ago, and since then was tenderly cared for by her son, Obed and family. Although in failing health for a number of years, she was confined to her bed only one month before her passing. She is survived by four sons, Obed, at home; Theophilus, Sweetland; Prescott, Chester Basin; and Austen in Bethel, Maine; one daughter, Harriett (Mrs. Thompson), Saint John, New Brunswick; and one sister, Mrs. Ellen Eichel; and a number of grandchildren and great grandchildren. A member of Christ Church (Anglican), she attended the services of her church and supported it when her health permitted. The funeral took place on the 14th, when a large circle of relatives and friends attended. After a service at the house the remains were taken to Christ Church, where the full service of the Church of England was taken by the Rev. H.M. Elliott. The hymns sung were "Now the Labourer's Task is O'er, " "Forever With the Lord, " and "Peace, Perfect Peace." The body was then laid to rest in the cemetery near the church beside her husband.
