Hibbert B. Veinot
The death of Hibbert B. Veinot occurred at his residence at Maitland on Feb. 5th, in his 72nd year. Deceased suffered a paralytic stroke four weeks before and was practically helpless since then. He is survived by his wife and one daughter, Miss Lilla, also three daughters by a former marriage; Devilla, wife of Joseph Barry, of Grande Pointe, Man; Effie, wife of Wm. Ernest, Blockhouse; Ellen, wife of Edward Compton, Toronto, Ont. The latter arrived home shortly before her father passed away. He was the only surviving son of the late John and Eleanor Veinot. Mrs. Asaph Jodrey and Mrs. Ellen Eichel, both of Maitland, are sisters of the deceased. There are also nineteen grandchildren and one great grandchild. A consistant member of the Church of England. The funeral took place on the 9th inst., Rev. E.L. Tuck performing the service at which a large number of relatives and friends attended. The floral offerings were very beautiful. The family have the sympathy of the community in their sad bereavement.

LIGHTFOOT, Pauline Lida - 82, Kentville, Kings Co., formerly of Canning, passed away quietly in Evergreen Home for Special Care, Kentville, August 20, 1998. Born in New Ross, she was a daughter of the late Harold and Mary (Russell) Rafuse. She was a member of New Ross Baptist Church, Canning Baptist Church and attended Bethany Memorial Baptist Church in Aldershot. She resided in the Valley area most of her life. She had an avid interest in community and church affairs. Surviving are daughter, Mary Ann and husband Don Rogers, Amherst; sons, Murray and wife Marion, Kentville; Cameron and wife Marlene, New Minas; Darrell and wife Doris, Canning; sisters, Lona (Mrs. Paul Redden), Somerset; Edna (Mrs. Gordon Graham), Berwick; grandchildren, Glenn and wife Melanie Rogers, Jeff and wife Rhonda Rogers, Scott, Melissa-Beth, Charmaine, Gregory, Doug and Rachel Lightfoot; great-grandchild, Alex Rogers. She was predeceased by her husband, Wallace; granddaughter, Christine Lightfoot; sister, Hazel Murphy; brothers, Delmar and Raymond Rafuse. Visitation 7-9 p.m. today in H.C. Lindsay Memorial Chapel, Kentville. Funeral service 2 p.m. Sunday, August 23, in Bethany Memorial Baptist Church, Aldershot, Pastor Brian Hamilton and Rev. Dr. Freeman Fenerty officiating. Burial in Habitant Cemetery. Family flowers only. Memorial donations to Evergreen Home for Special Care Residents Fund or Bethany Memorial Baptist Church, Aldershot.

Mrs. William Eisenhauer 1956
A respected resident of this district, Mrs.William Eisenhauer, passed away at the home of her granddaughter, Mrs. Asaph Lohnes of Upper Northfield, on Thursday, July 19th. She was 91 years of age and was before marriage Mary Elizabeth Wheelock, daughter of the late Morton Wheelock and Mary O'Bri Wheelock and spent practically all her life in Watford, going to reside in Upper Northfield in recent years.
She is survived by six sons, Morton of Cape Cod; Vernon of Worcester, Mass.; George of Hartford, Conn.; Roy of Brickton, Annapolis County; Blake of Worcester, Mass.; and Fletcher of Hartford, Conn. A daughter, Mamie (Mrs. Percy Veinot) passed away several years ago.
Funeral services were held Sunday at the Barss Corner United Church of Canada, of which Mrs. Eisenhauer ws a member. Conducting the services was Student Pastor James Fraser. Burial was in the family lot in Indian Brook Cemetery.

Emmanuel Veinotte
NEW ROSS, Jan 20.
A highly esteemed respected citizen in the person of Emmanuel Veinotte, died at his residence, on Sunday evening after a few months illness, at the age of eighty-eight years. Deceased is survived by his widow, one daughter, Mrs. Thomas Parker, of Berwick and 3 sons, Michael, of Aaldersville; Richard of Mill Road and Lindsay at home; and 3 grandchildren who, one of which Frank Barkhouse lived at the home of the deceased since his parents were killed in the explosion at Halifax in 1917.
The funeral took place from his late residence to St. Augustine of Hippo Church, at the Forties. The services being by Rev. P. G. Corbin, B.A., of New Ross. Interment took place in the church cemetery at Forties. Deceased was a member of the Church of England.

James Enos Veniot
New Ross, Sept. 12 - The death took place suddenly of James Enos Veniot, on Tuesday afternoon, Sept. 1, at the home of his son Wesley, after a few weeks illness, at the age of eight-four years. Deceased lived here all his life, and was the last of his immediate family. there survives seven sons and four daughters; Lawrence and Beecher of New Ross, Howard and Wesley of Forties, Clarence of Berwick, Edward of Factorydale, Frank of Lawrence, Mrs. Edward Reeves of New Ross, Mrs. Austin Brown of Forties, Elsie of Lexington, Mass., and Mrs. Norwood of Baker's Settlement; also fifty- five grandchildren and thirty- nine great-grandchildren.

Lake Pleasant - Perry Henry Acker, 79, Lake Pleasant, Annapolis County, passed away suddenly April 7, 1989 at the South Shore Regional Hospital, Bridgewater. Born in Lake Pleasant, he was the adopted son of the late Josias and Angeline (Woodworth) Acker. He is survived by his wife, the former Pearl Marguerite Burgoyne; five daughters, Rosalie (Mrs. Billy Hirtle), Hemford; Brenda (Mrs. Tony Eisnor), Irene (Mrs. Norman Thompson), both of Cornwall; Georgina (Mrs. Wilson Seymour), Lake Pleasant; Roxanne (Mrs. Paul Cockrill), Ottawa; three sons, Reginald, Ivan, Henry, all of Lake Pleasant; a half sister Violet Veinot, Annapolis County; three half brothers, Donald Zinck, Lamont Zinck, Oran Zinck, all of Lake Pleasant; 19 grandchildren; and nine great grandchildren. He was predeceased by two half sisters, Damie and Audrey; a granddaughter Stephine Ann. The service was at Langille's Funeral Home, New Germany. Burial at Springfield Baptist Cemetery, Springfield, with Rev. Ruth Ann Brown officiating. Music by Jill Rafuse. Hymns were "In The Garden" and "Amazing Grace". Pallbearers were Noel Sproule, Guy Sproule, Ronald Veinot, Ronald Best, Ronald Whynot, and John Rynard.

Mrs. Cathryn Awalt- NEW ROSS, Nov. 2- At the home of her nephew, James Veinotte, Dalhousie, the death occurred on Tuesday, October 25, of Mrs. Cathyrn Awalt, formerly of Mahone Bay, at the age of 83 years. The funeral took place on Thursday afternoon from Mr. Veinotte's residence to St. Cyprian Church, the services being conducted by Rev. P. G. Corbin, B.A. of New Ross.
Interment took place in the church cemetery at Dalhousie. (BB of Tues, Nov 15, 1932)

Kanas Zwicker
On Wednesday morning, March 22nd, 1933, there passed away at his home in Scarsdale, Kanas Zwicker, one of the oldest residents of that place, aged nearly 76 years. Although his last illness was of only a few days duration, Mr. Zwicker, during his long life-time, suffered much sickness and many accidents, all of which he endured with great patience. He was a man of a quiet and peaceable disposition; one who had many friends, and no enemies. He was a kind husband and father and a good neighbor, honest, upright and much respected.
He leaves a sorrowing wife, who is at present in poor health; four daughters and three sons, all of whom were present at the funeral. The daughters are Louisa, (Mrs. William Caldwell), of Union Square; Drusilla, (Mrs. Herbert Elliott), of Worcester, Mass.; Elva, (Mrs. Owen Veinotte), of New Germany, and Enola, (Mrs. William Mossman), of Scarsdale. The sons are, William, of Lake View, King's County; Steadman, of Parkdale, and Charles, at home. There also survive eighteen grand-children; one brother, George Zwicker, of Walden, and one sister, Mrs. Enos Oxner, of Mahone Bay.
The funeral on Saturday, the 25th, was largely attended. The service which was held at the home, was conducted by Rev. W. R. MacWalker, with interment at Parkdale cemetery.
The floral offerings were:
Sprays: Wife; the Girls; the Boys; Steadman and Lucy Ann; Mr. and Mrs. Nathan Beck; Mr. and Mrs. Zach. Kaulback; Mrs. Parker Hawksworth; Mr. and Mrs. Bert Spidle.
Bouquet: Mr. and Mrs. Hiram Wentzell.

Ainsley Arenburg 1943
The death of Ainsley Arenburg, an aged and highly respected citizen, occurred on Wednesday, January 20, 1943, at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Willis Veinotte, by whom he was tenderly cared for during a long and painful illness of over two years' duration.
The deceased was the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Arenburg and was born at Stanburne 83 years ago. He was the last member of a very large family. His wife, the former Letitia Woodworth, passed away 23 years ago. Besides his daugher, Gertrude, Mrs. Veinotte, there is a son, Harry, living in the United States and a grandson, Bruce Veinot, New Germany.
The funeral was held on Saturday afternoon conducted by Rev. F.M. French. The service was at St. John's Anglican Church. The pall-bearers were Daniel Parnell, Laurie Hamm, Donald DeLong, and Stanley Veinot, with interment in the family lot. Sympathy is extended to the family in their bereavement.

VEINOT, Bruce Ainslie - 80, New Germany, passed away on Thursday, October 4, 2007, after a lengthy illness. Born in New Germany on May 6, 1927, he was the only son of Willis and Gertrude (Arenburg) Veinot. In his early years Bruce excelled in school with high academics but like many young men of the time, he went to work at the Morgan Falls Pulp Mill New Germany. In 1962 he met business man Eldon H. Wynn and accepted a position at Fielding and Wynn Limited where his well-known face and kind disposition graced the community of New Germany until his retirement in 1989. Bruce was an active outdoorsman and loved the beautiful scenery of Lunenburg County and could often been seen driving his tractor to his Billy Place farm in Simpson's Corner. He was a member of Saint John's In the Wilderness Anglican Church, New Germany, where he served as past Church and Parish Treasurer. A devoted fireman, Bruce served in the New Germany Fire Department for over 20 years retiring as Captain of Pumper 4. He was a current member of I.O.O.F New Germany Pine Grove Branch, No. 111 where he was known for his love of playing cards and socializing with friends. He is survived by his loving wife of 44 years, Helen; only son, Glen and his wife Anne-Marie Richard; precious granddaughter, Nikita. Visitation will be today, 7-9 p.m. in Sweeny's Funeral Home, Route 10, New Germany. Funeral service will be in Saint John's in the Wilderness Anglican Church, New Germany at 3 p.m. on Saturday October 6, Rev. Catherine Robar officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Saint John's in the Wilderness Anglican Church Cemetery Fund, New Germany, NS B0R 1E0.

VEINOT, Helen Louise — 84, New Germany, passed away on Sunday July 25, 2009, after a short illness. Born in Lockport, August 15, 1924, she was the daughter of the late Winsloe and Evelyn Townsend and the foster daughter of the late Ella and Kenneth Kean. In her early years Helen worked at the Kane Family General Store and Post Office her foster parents owned and operated in Jordan Bay. Later she traveled to Massachusetts and Ontario and eventually settled in Halifax working at the Halifax School for the Blind. She was then introduced to a gentleman from New Germany and after a distant courtship, she moved to New Germany in 1962 and later married. She was predeceased by her husband of 44 years, Bruce Ainslie Veinot. She is survived by her only son, Glen and his wife, Anne-Marie Richard; precious granddaughter, Nikita, Hammonds Plains. Also surviving are her sisters, Flora Townsend (Harlow) and Lilly Townsend, both of Shelburne. She was a past member of Saint John's In the Wilderness Anglican Church, New Germany. She will be remembered for her ability to reflect and remember the good old days past and her love of animals. Visitation will be 7-9 p.m., Tuesday, July 28 in Sweeny's Funeral Home, 4859 Highway 10 New Germany. A private graveside service with family only will be held in Saint John's In the Wilderness Anglican Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Saint John's In the Wilderness Anglican Church Cemetery Fund, New Germany NS, B0R 1E0.
