Co., Deceased spent two months in hospital during the winter, and returned home in March in apparently good health. On April 12, he entered the hospital again, and succumbed to a heart attack. CONRAD, Grace Dorothy — 91, of Avonport, previously of Lower Wolfville, passed away October 3, 2009, in Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville. She was born in North River Road, Kings Co., to the late Arthur and Violet (Levy) Jodrey. The family moved to Greenfield, Kings Co., and after the untimely death of her father, they moved to Gaspereau. She married Frank Conrad, moved to Lower Wolfville and together they developed a successful dairy farm known as "Coni Ridge Farm". Grace was an extremely capable, diligent and thrifty woman who gave support to her husband and family. This trait served her well throughout her life. In earlier years she was the secretary of Wolfville Home & School and for years she was a dedicated canvasser for charitable organizations. She received a pin from the Canadian Cancer Society, Wolfville District in recognition of her years of canvassing. She was a faithful member of the Anglican Church in Wolfville. Later years, she and Frank enjoyed some travelling, but most of all they enjoyed the card parties, which they attended for many years. People thought she had the "ace of hearts" up her sleeve. She always had a positive attitude and accepted what challenges she had to face. This was so true when in 2002, due to ill health, she had to give up her home and way of life to be cared for by her daughter and son-in-law, Gwen and Bill Sweet. She continued to enjoy the many friends who would visit and play cards, thanks to family and Ken and Barb Mitchell. A big thank-you to Dr. Hamilton and Betty for showing compassion towards Grace, especially the past seven years. She is survived by children, Gordon (Kay), Melanson; Don (Ruth), Lower Wolfville; Paul (Carol), Conquerall Bank; Gwen (Bill) Sweet, Avonport; Linda (Robert) MacDonald, Middle River, Cape Breton; Laurie (Geneva), Melanson; 17 grandchildren and 31 great-grandchildren; sister, Irene Collins, Harmony, Kings Co.; many nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Frank; daughters, Shirley and Geraldine; grandson, Craig Sweet; sisters, Nina, Velma and brothers, Wendell, Russell and Wilson. Visitation will be held in St. John's Anglican Church, Wolfville, on Friday, October 9th, from 6-9 p.m., where the funeral will be held on Saturday, October 10, at 2 p.m. Cremation has taken place. A private family burial will take place Saturday morning. Reception will be in the parish hall, 341 Main St., Wolfville. Donations may be made to The Wolfville Lions Club, 36 Elm Ave., Wolfville, NS B4P 1Z9 or St. John's Anglican Church, 164 Main St., Wolfville, NS B4P 1C1. Arrangements are under the care of H.C.
