Blanche Nauss - Newburne, Lunenburg County - Blanche (Joudrey) Nauss, 81, of Newburne, died Saturday in Fishermen's Memorial Hospital, Lunenburg. Born in North River, Annapolis County, she was a daughter of the late Hibbert and Victoria (Veinott) Joudrey. She is survived by four daughters, Phyllis (Mrs. Frank Fancey), Upper Cornwall; Marie (Mrs. Douglas Richardson), Mahone Bay; Pauline MacLean, Elmwood; Vera Dixon, Western Shore; three sons, Jack, Bridgetown; Ray, MacNab's Island; Carroll, Upper Cornwall; 22 grandchildren; and 15 great grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her husband John; three daughters, Beatrice, Janet and Freda; one infant son; five sisters, Ida, Edna, Annie, Alice, Nora; three brothers, Arthur, Percy and Clyde. The body is in Langille's Funeral Home, New Germany. Funeral will be 2 pm Tuesday from the Anglican Church in Union Square, Rev. Gordon Rigby officiating, with burial in Union Square Cemetery. Donations may be made to charity of your choice.

Mrs. Alex Jodrey 1944 Bridgewater Bulletin
Following a long and painful illness, borne with wonderful Christian patience, Sarah Amanda, the wife of Alex Jodrey, Stanley Section, Nova Scotia, passed peacefully away at her home on November 23 rd. She was 69 years of age and was born at New Cornwall, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Demas Jodrey. Her warm hospitality always extended to friends and strangers, will remain a life long memory, of a good friend and neighbour. Surviving are the bereaved husband and seven daughters, Margaret (Mrs. Ress Robar), New Germany; Annie (Mrs. Murray Mader), Stanley Section; Sadie (Mrs. Robert Emeno), Simpson's Corner; Glennis (Mrs. Leo Simpson), also of Simpson's Corner; Lemeth (Mrs.Raymond Smith). U.S.A.;Olkive (Mrs. Ben Oxner), U.S.A.; Myrtle, at home. Three sons also survive, Joe and Charley, New Germany; Robert, Stanley Section. Thirty-five grandchildren and six great grandchildren also survive, also three brothers, Sidney and Elam of New Cornwall and Edward, of Mahone Bay; and two sisters, Mrs. Mary Dorey, Liverpool, and Miss Effie Jodrey, Manchester, New Hampshire. Three daughters, a son, and four brothers predeceased her.
The funeral was held on Saturday with interment in the Lakeside Cemetery. The service, which was largely attended, was conducted by the Rev. W.H. Chard, rector of St.John's Anglican Church, of which the late Mrs. Jodrey was a very faithful member. The floral tributes were many and beautiful.

Frank Albert ARENBURG
Veteran Fireman dies at 94 - Kentville- Frank Albert ARENBURG, 94, of Kentville, d died Tuesday in Blanchard Fraser Memorial Hospital, Kentville. Born in North River, Kings Co ., he was a son of the late George and Annie (VEINOT) ARENBURG. He was a veteran of the Kentville Volunteer Fire Department, with 47 years active service. He was an associate member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch #6. Surviving are three daughters, Jennie (Mrs. Walter C LAMP), New Minas; Mona (Mrs. Frank EVERETT), Andover, N.B.; and Leona (Mrs. Victor HATFIELD), Calgary, Alta.; five sons, Charles, Robert and Frank, all of Kentville; Vernon, Dartmouth; an d Donald, Ontario; two sister, Sarah (Mrs. Henry BUTLER), North Alton, Kings Co.; Mrs. Jennie DeLONG, Kentville; 26 grandchildren, 33 great-grandchildren, and two great-great grandchildren . He was predeceased by his wife, the former Ada KEDDY; a daughter, two sons, five sisters a and five brothers. The body is in the W. C. HILTZ Funeral Home, Kentville. Funeral service will be held Saturday at 2pm in St.James Anglican Church, Kentville. Burial will be in Oak Grove Cemetery, Kentville. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Kentville Fire Department new pumper campaign.

Titus Veinot
The death of Titus Veinot occurred at the D.M. Hospital on Sunday afternoon, March 11, at the age of 69 years. Although in failing health for some time, his death came as a shock to his relatives and many friends. He had lived his entire life at New Burne, and was the son of the late Zachariah and Isabel (Ramey) Veinot. He was unmarried and leaves to mourn their loss two sisters; Gladys, Mrs. Randall Robar, at New Burne, and Edna, Mrs. Edna Penall, Halifax. Two brothers and four sisters predeceased him some years ago. He also leaves a number of nieces and nephews. The funeral service was held on Tuesday afternoon at the Anglican church at Union Square, of which he was a faithful member. The service was conducted by his pastor, Rev. W.R. Martell, of New Germany. The deceased was laid to rest in the Union Square cemetery. (hand written on obituary - 1951)

WOODS, Barbara Josephine - 83, Halifax, died March 18, 1996, in the Halifax Infirmary. Born in Lunenburg County, she was a daughter of the late Frank and Edna (Veinot) Pennell. She was a former resident of Joseph Howe Manor for 15 years. Surviving are her husband, Harold; son, Wilfred, Halifax; sister, Violet Pennell, Gold River; three granddaughters; four great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by sisters, Frances Duncan, Annie Pennell, Helen Campbell, Christina Pennell; brothers, John, Joseph; grandson, Michael Woods. Cremation has taken place. Family will receive visitors 4-5 p.m. Saturday in Snow's Funeral Home, Windsor Street, where funeral will be 5 p.m. Saturday. In lieu of flowers, donations to Canadian Cancer Society.

Mrs. Robert J. Veinot 1963 Bridgewater Bulletin
The death of Audrey, wife of Robert J. Veinot, of Bridgewater, occurred suddenly at home, on Monday, November 4th, at Fairview, P.E. Island. She was a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Allison MacMillan and was in her 33rd. year. She had been associated with the Prince Edward Island Department of Agriculture for several years and had held the position of Director of 4-H Club work. Prior to that she had also served as assistant agriculture representative for Inverness, and Queens-Lunenburg Counties. During her stay in Bridgewater she had made many friends, who were saddened by her early death.
Besides her husband, she is survived by an infant daughter, Jessie Rebecca, born October 24th.; her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Allison MacMillan; and one sister, Peggy (Mrs. Wallace MacKenzie), all of Prince Edward Island.
Following a private service at the home for the family, the funeral was held on November 8th., from the New Dominion United Church, where the service was conducted by Rev.Isaac Walls, assisted by Rev. A.S. Weir. The solo, "Some Day He'll Make it Plain" was sung by Sterling Inman.
Honourary pall bearers were : Mr. Justice George J .Tweedy, Hon. Leo Rossiter, Hon. Andrew B. MacRae, Hartwell Daley, Stewart Wright, Reid Sangster, Andrew Likely, T.D.DeBlois, Brig. W.W. Reid, Eugene Cullen, and Robert Parent. Active pall bearers were: David MacLean, David Peacock, Francis McIsaac, Ivor Burdett, Keith Taylor, and Thomas Murphy. Flower bearers were: John McEwen, Walter Currie, Raymond McIsaac, Fred Norton, John Skinner, Donald WonNacott, Louis McIsaac, George Campbell, Terrence Alcorn, and June McIsaac.
Attending the funeral services in a body were the Business and Professional Women, member of the Church Session, and the Department of Agriculture.
The profusion of floral offerings were silent tribute to the memory of one who was loved and respected by a wide circle of Maritime friends. Interment was in the New Dominion Cemetery.

PENNELL, Violet Theresa - 78, Gold River, Lunenburg Co., died April 14, 1996, in South Shore Regional Hospital, Bridgewater. Born at Beech Hill, Lunenburg Co., she was a daughter of the late Frank and Edna Mary (Veinot) Pennell. Surviving are niece, Mary (Mrs. Clem Kaizer), Gold River, with whom she resided; several other nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by sisters, Helen Campbell, Christine Pennell, Barbara Woods, Frances Duncan, Annie Pennell; brothers, John, Joseph. Cremation has taken place. Private memorial service will be held Wednesday in Davis Funeral Home, Chester, Rev. Joseph MacKinnon officiating. Burial at a later date. Donations to Heart and Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia.

VEINOT, Clyde Lenly - At Saint John Regional Hospital on Saturday, February 28, 1998, Clyde L. Veinot, Hatfield Point, N.B., age 77, husband of Geraldine Margaret (Steeves) Veinot. Surviving are his wife; daughter, Carol Anne and Walter (Skip) Masson, Saint John; son, Ross and Beverly, Springfield; grandchildren, Andrew and Angela Veinot, Springfield; Kimberly and Dan White, London, Ont.; Kevin Briggs, Scarborough, Ont.; great-grandson, Luke Alexander White; two stepdaughters; three stepsons; 11 step-grandchildren; two step-great-grandchildren; sister, Jennie Veino, Newburn; several nieces, nephews and cousins; special friend, Charles Whitenect. Predeceased by his first wife, Marion Belle (Earle) Veinot; sister, Elizabeth; and his buddies, Charlie Burrs, John Coleman, Burton Short and June Thorsen. Resting at Sherwood's Funeral Home, Norton, N.B., today from 2-4, 7-9 p.m. Funeral service will be held in Trinity Anglican Church, Springfield, Tuesday, March 3, 1998, at 11 a.m. Interment will be in Kiersteadville Cemetery in the spring. Memorial donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, Canadian Cancer Society or memorial of donor's choice.

Sach, Elizabeth Mabel - Hundreds of sorrowing friends gathered at Epworth United Church at New Germany on Friday afternoon, Sept. 19th, to pay their last respects to Elizabeth Mabel Sach and Betty Victoria Veinot, whose deaths resulted from injuries received in a car-train accident on Sept. 2nd., which also claimed the life of the former's brother, Ernest Sach. All three young people were popular in their home community and took active parts in all young people's work, being members of the Junior Choir, of the United Church and officers in the Young People's Union of the church. Elizabeth and Ernest were grade XI pupils of North Rosedale school and Betty was to have entered the Bridgewater Commercial School this fall. They will be sincerely missed by young and old alike. For the funeral service both caskets were placed before the flower banked alter, a profusion of beautiful tributes, expressing the deep sympathy of their many friends. Rev. P.B. Chisholm of Mahone Bay, conducted the service, assisted by Rev. Frank W. Lacey, of Riverport and Rev. Murdoch Fraser, of Brooklyn. Elizabeth Sach was buried beside her brother in the New Community Cemetery. Betty Veinot was also buried in the Sach lot. The committal service was conducted by Rev. P. B. Chisholm, assisted by Rev. Francis Scoates, of Blue Rocks, Rev. John MacDonald, Liverpool and Rev. MacQuarrie, of Port Mouton. The late Betty Victoria Veinot, who passed away at the D.M. Hospital, Bridgewater, on Tuesday Sept 9th, was born in Farmington 17 years ago, a daughter of the late Mrs. Nora Veinot. She leaves one half sister, Miss Jennie Veinot, of Newburn. for some years Betty had been a ward of Children's Aid Society and had lived at the home of Mrs. Henry Tretheway, New Germany, and was held in high esteem by everyone who knew her. The late Elizabeth Mabel Sach passed away on Wednesday morning, Sept. 10. She was the 15 year old daughter of Rev. and Mrs. George W. Sach, of New Germany, and was born in Makkovik, Labrador, where her parents were serving as Moravian missionaries. She spent four and one half years in England attending school where she won the tennis racquet of the school, emblematic of excellence in sports. She was also a talented musician. She came to New Germany three years ago when her parents came here from Jamaica to take up the duties at the United Church of Canada. She leaves her parents, one sister Margaret, 11 years old, and an aged grandmother in London.

FERGUSON, C. Sidney "Sid" - 86, East Dalhousie, Kings Co., passed away on Tuesday, February 17, 2009, in South Shore Regional Hospital, Bridgewater. Born August 10, 1922, in Tangier, he was a son of the late P.S. "Stan" and Hatie (Josey) Ferguson. Prior to retirement, Sid was owner and operator of C.S. Ferguson Flooring Co., Halifax and Lane's Tourist Court, Montague, P.E.I. Surviving are his wife of 35 years, Ruby K. (Veinot); daughters, Charlene Ferguson, Judy Sadler, both of Halifax; stepdaughters, Sonja Morse, Prince Edward Island; Gunnhild Vardal, British Columbia; granddaughter, Kelly Battilana; nine stepgrandchildren; great-granddaughter, Loren; brothers, Elmer, Florida; Don, Tangier; sisters, Inez Bolling, Halifax; Muriel Gesner, Viola Abriel, both of Ontario; Dorothy Lamont, Dartmouth; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by brothers, Roy, Guy, Percy, Eric; sisters, Aileen, Daisy. No visitation or funeral service by request. Donations may be made to Heart and Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia or Canadian Diabetes Association. Arrangements under the direction of Sweeny's Funeral Home, New Germany.

WEBBER, Jean Kathryn — 89, of New Germany and Dartmouth, passed away, on Saturday, October 23, 2010, in Melville Gardens Nursing Home, Halifax, where she had been residing. Born in Maplewood, she was a daugh­ter of the late Charles and Nina (Went­zell) Veinot. Surviving are her son, Charles (Sue) Webber, Dartmouth; grandchildren, Natalie (Joel) Culli­gan, Alberta; Nathan (Katrina Reid), Dartmouth; great-grandchildren, Kaitlin and Liam Culligan, Alexander and Kyle Webber; sisters, Lois Turner, Forties; Ruby Ferguson, East Dalhou­sie; many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by husband, Fran­klin O. Webber; sons, Frankie and one in infancy; brother, Maynard Went­zell; sisters, Susie Dauphinee, Irene Collicutt, Elsie Maughan, Ruth Meisn­er, Annie Joudrey. No visitation in the funeral home by request. Funeral 11 a.m. Wednesday, in Barss Corner Unit­ed Baptist Church, Barss Corner, Rev. Norman Hovland officiating. Burial to follow in the church cemetery. Family flowers only. Donations may be made to Barss Corner United Baptist Church or the church cemetery. Ar­rangements entrusted to Sweeny’s Fu­neral Home, 4895 Route 10, New Germany.

James Elkanah Veinot
The sudden passing on July 8th of James Elkanah Veinot, of West Dublin, at the home of his son Enos at Clearland, with whom he has made his home since the death of his wife, Janet Augusta, came as a great shock to his family, relatives and friends. Mr. Veinot was born on September 28th, 1874, the son of the late Asaph and Augusta Veinot, of Conquerall Mills, Lun. Co. He spent his early years there, later taking up residence in West Dublin. After the death of his wife, he moved to Clearland. He is survived by one son, Enos; a daughter Vida (Mrs. Herbert Manthorne), of Liverpool, N.S., and Myra (Mrs. Avald Corkum), of Mt. Pleasant, Lun. Co. His wife, a brother Enos and sister Lora predeceased him. He was a devoted member of St. John's Anglican Church, West Dublin, at which the funeral service was held at 2:30 Monday afternoon, July 11th, Rev. Mr. Jeffreys officiating. Interment was in the family lot at the West Dublin Cemetery.

WILE, Otis Bennett - 87, Newburne, Lunenburg Co., passed away on Sunday, December 10, 2006, in the Veteran's Unit, Fishermen's Memorial Hospital, Lunenburg, where he had been residing. Born in Leminster, Hants Co., he was a son of the late Bennett and Mamie (Wile) Wile. He was a veteran of the Second World War, having served overseas. Surviving are son, Gary (Jane) Veino, Bridgewater; daughter-in-law, Betty Wile, Toronto; grandsons, Ryan and Jason Veino; sister, Phyllis Corkum, Middle Cornwall; brothers, Hugh (Clara) Wile, Martins River; Gerald (Arlene) Wile, Middle Cornwall. He was predeceased by his companion of over 50 years, Jennie Veino; son, Wayne Wile; sisters, Queene Levy, Marjorie Sawler. There will be no visitation or funeral service by personal request. A private interment will take place at a later date. No flowers please, donations to the Veteran's Unit of Fishermen's Memorial Hospital or a charity of choice. Arrangements entrusted to Sweeny's Funeral Home, No. 4895 Route 10, New Germany.
